Deactivated after 7 years with rover and 5 stars
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Rover after being a dedicated sitter on the platform for nearly 7 years. During my time with Rover, I built a strong reputation with 260+ five-star reviews, maintained Star Sitter status, and cared for countless pets and families. Safety, communication, and responsible pet care have always been my top priorities. In my 7 years on the platform, I have only had four reported bite-related incidents, which I have always taken seriously and reported with the intention of being transparent, protecting pets, and helping create a safer environment for everyone involved. Recently, I had an incident where a dog became involved in a conflict with another dog, and while I was safely intervening to separate them, the dog bit me. The bite was not an act of aggression toward a person, but rather a reaction during an already stressful situation. I immediately reported the incident to Rover because I believe honesty and transparency are essential when caring for animals. Shortly after reporting the situation, my account was deactivated. I attempted to appeal the decision, but my appeal was not accepted, and I was not provided with a clear explanation or meaningful opportunity to discuss the circumstances. What I find most concerning is that reporting an incident honestly and following the proper safety process appears to have resulted in losing access to my account. This feels confusing and discouraging, as it may unintentionally create a situation where sitters are hesitant to report incidents in the future. I have always prioritized safety and have worked hard to provide a secure, enriching environment for the pets in my care. I have created an ideal setup designed around supervision, structure, and responsible play, and I am also certified through the state to ensure my operation meets safety standards. After 7 years, 260+ five-star reviews, and countless positive relationships with pet parents, I am disappointed that my history and commitment to excellent care were not more fully considered. I truly hope Rover continues to improve its communication, transparency, and review process so dedicated sitters are treated fairly and given the opportunity to understand and address concerns. Thank you to every family who trusted me with their pets throughout the years. Your support and confidence have meant more than you know. 🐾❤️
