Shanice from KEYPORT NJ is a SCAM ARTIST and I want ALL other dog owners new or ones that have previously booked with her before to beware before what happened to me happens to them one day because it is only a matter of time . Shanice not only leaves dogs isolated in rooms , she purposely lets dogs chew or scratch/damage property in her house and then has the audacity to come at the owners for money to replace her belongings due to her own negligence ! I went on vacation for 4 days and had to cut my trip short after only two days because Shanice messaged me saying that my dog was chewing on things in the house , over 300$ worth of things apparently . I not only decided to leave my trip early because at that point concerned that my dog could be sick from what she ingested but I was completely uncomfortable with my dog being under Shanice’s care at that point . She then admitted to my family member who picked up my dog that she was NOT at the home at the time my dog did these things and left my 14 month old dog ALONE and unattended in the house which I s pure negligence on her part and my poor pup was not being supervised at ALL . Shanice has also told me an instance where she left a dog isolated in a room by itself and out of fear and anxiety that dog scratched and chewed up her bedroom door trying so desperately to get out and she told me with her own mouth that she made the owner pay for damages . Shanice LETS dogs chew and damage her things out of anxiety and PURE negligence then comes at owners for any money they have . She is COMPLETELY unprofessional and does not care about dogs as she says she does , please take this from someone who has been there and seen the situations first hand . Be careful , and what I will do in the future is look for a better sitter which will most likely be more expensive than Shanice’s prices but you get what you pay for , so if you really care for the treatment of your dog and don’t want to be worried about your dog being isolated and the well being of them overall I would not recommend Shanice at all . Having to leave only two days after my trip was a disaster all because my dog was completely neglected , can potentially be sick , and she took over 300$ from me at that.

Given your inflexibility to investigate properly and when called directly to reconsider and reinvestigate your rude agent refused to reinstate me you left me with no other choice but to leave this review and report you like numerous others before me to the BBB and Atty General’s office for slandering me! Rover is a very dishonest one-sided pet sitting company that doesn't support its customers or pet sitters when incidences occur even if you’ve been with them 6 years with 20+ excellent reviews. I was sitting a 12 yr old diabetic dog that passed naturally and Rover removed me as a sitter and I went above and beyond for the dog cleaning up vomit from my carpet and bedding and dealing with a pet crematory. All for little over $20/day…I got no sleep or work done the day it died on a Friday from stress and anxiety and still had her other dog to care for along with my two. I lost a lot of time with Rover explaining my side and dealing with this. After being up all night, I slept the next day Saturday 9-3 then had to finish work I didn’t get done the day before bc of dealing with things resulting from this sick dog including a dry cleaner from her dog vomiting on my king bedspread. I turned my cell off so I could have uninterrupted work time from my home office 3 til 11pm and went to bed exhausted. The next day on Sunday I saw Rover had called me 6 times starting at 3 pm on Saturday up til 1 am Sunday and texted me another 4 times as well as there was a police call the customer did to me and Rover also contacted a reference of mine putting them up to contacting me too. The reason for this was the customer decided to move her 2nd dog the last couple of days when that dog was absolutely fine. That is all HARASSMENT!! Not even giving a person 24 hours to return a message!! I sent proof the customer said her dog sleeps a lot and she said to let her dog sleep and that she would take her dog to a vet upon her return and that she didn't provide me enough medicine for the dog and Rover still takes the owner’s side and expected me to know the dog would die and to go to a vet. I can’t predict when a dog needs a vet. I called the owner to ask about her dog’s lack of energy on this day, its 5th day with me and she said it was normal. The dog also was eating well and getting two insulin shots a day with me so I thought nothing much about it. When the dog passed I immediately called the owner and then a crematorium company to pick up and refrigerate the dog and instead of appreciating what I was left to deal with, the owner called the police on me and caused me more stress. I asked Rover to remove the customer from using them for calling police on a long time sitter who she slandered by calling police on her but instead they removed me as a sitter that did nothing wrong but try to help someone out with a sick insulin dependent dog that already lived 5 yrs with diabetes when the norm is two. They make 20% from the sitter and 7% from the owner and do nothing to earn their fees. Not even capable of investigating properly! Go elsewhere!

DO NOT RELY ON ROVER. My dog sitter canceled the booking. Other pet sitters won't reply. Customer service will not help. Do not know what to do.

No control over pricing as people can just chnage price anytime and after say is over price cant be adjusted and that is just so basic. My last dog sitter agreed for 30 and increased lrice prorated by 5 saying no food provided. Rover can have better control and selection while chosing with or without food

The sitter lost my dog then I had to pay $60 in fees to get him from the pound. I was not refunded for the stay when I booked 3 days but she only kept him for 6 hours and Rover expects me to write a statement as to what happened so they don't have to reference a phone call. DO NOT USE ROVER!!! DO NOT USE SAMANTHA IN WEST DES MOINES IOWA!!!!!

The short of it is it was the worst experience ever. If I could give zero stars I would but it doesn’t allow me to do so. The sitter I hired to house sit neglected my dog and barely showed up while I was gone. My dog even damaged the front and garage door while trying to get out of the house since he was left for 12-15 hours at a time. All of which I have proof of via the ring camera and communication with the sitter when she actually responded. Now he has anxiety anytime I go to leave the house. I also had to tell the sitter, who kept giving me excuses that it seemed like she had to much going on (even though she messaged me on day 1 when I was concerned that she just had a busy day but the rest of the week she had no plans and could stay with my animals) and that I found someone else (my father in law) to finish the rest of the week. Thank goodness my father in law could come over and check on the well being of my dog when I heard him whining so bad I thought he was hurt. This is after I found out he was left overnight alone. When my father in law showed up at my house he saw the damage to the doors. The sitter never even bothered to tell me and still hasn’t 2 plus weeks later. Rover is now trying to say it’s not covered by the Rover Guarantee because of a specific exclusion even though this is not part of the exclusions. I have also given Rover the proof that I have that my dog was neglected(besides the ring videos) and I also asked what else I needed to provide. Instead of answering my questions I just keep getting told that the damages won’t be covered because of blank. The sitter had 2 roommates that I never met in my home along with her boyfriend. None of which were approved to come in my home. All I did was worry about my animals my entire vacation with my family and Rover was supposed to help, which is why I hired a sitter through them. It seems like they are just trying to get out of their responsibilities and they do NOT protect the pets and their owners. I will never use Rovers services again nor will I recommend them. I’ve also heard several horror stories ever since I told people about my experience. My experience with the support team is also terrible. I’m hoping I don’t have to hire my attorney to get them to finally cover the damages that they should already be covering based on the terms of the Rover Guarantee. Update: The response to my review that I received from Rover below is ridiculous. I’m being told next time to reach out to the support team and they would help. I did reach out to the support team, which I stated in my review, and they keep giving me the run around. My property damages should be covered under the Rover Guarantee based on the circumstances but I keep getting told it’s a direct exclusion etc. Now the supervisor, who only called me once, won’t return my emails or calls after I requested a call back. Update: So apparently Rover can respond to my trustpilot review twice now, but I have yet to hear back from Megan, the supervisor that reached out to me once. I tried to call her back and I was told she was busy. I also emailed requesting a call back because my attorney and I read through all of the Rover terms and conditions and I wanted to discuss why my doors and property should be covered based on that. I appreciate the reply’s telling me what to do. I also would appreciate a call back as I requested. Thanks.

I have used Rover successfully on a few occasions in previous years prior to Covid-19 pandemic. However this year, whenever I message anyone I’m left on pending for days and never receive an answer. So looks like holidays this year will be put on hold.
