I got charged a $75 cancellation fee that I didn’t even know existed. Won’t be refunded and I can’t leave a review for the sitter/site. The house looked unhealthy and scary.. couldn’t leave my dog there..

Rover.com has found a loophole to protect themselves against bad reviews. They have a 5 star dog sitter/walker who cancels at the very last minute with truly insane text messages full of lies. Because she cancels, clients can't post about how unbalanced and unprofessional she is. How many more people list on their site who are protected by this loophole? Her name is Michelle C. PLEASE ignore Rover.com's lame excuses. THIS is typical of this dog sitter. She has 5 stars because they don't allow posts about her unreliability because she cancels "before the service." Please note she cancelled at 5:30 in the morning AFTER a home visit and confirmation 12 hours earlier. And her cancellation texts are truly crazy and lies - not an emergency. JUST an irresponsible, unstable liar, who should not be taking care of anything breathing.

The Rover dog sitter flaked on us the day before a major life event saying she was just too busy. Was very slow to communicate and clearly not reliable. Will never use Rover again.

Sitter stayed in apartment night and day. Sent nonstop texts and videos at midnight, 5pm, etc. did not feed at the right time. When I informed I was coming home she refused to leave. Left garlic in my let’s bowl - to kill her. Reported to Animal Cruelty. Let crumbs everywhere. Sent 2 texts later that it takes 3-5 days for my cat to die from the garlic.

We were uncomfortable with our sitter and called into customer support to explore other options. We were put on hold thinking our service rep was finding different solutions or talking to her supervisor. When she came back, she informed us that she had cancelled our reservation, without our knowledge, but won't be able to give a full refund as that's "up to the sitter." We were kept in the dark and the service rep did not obtain our approval to just toss our money away. She did not have authority to conduct an action that would hurt the client without the client’s express approval. If she were to cancel without obtaining our approval, a full refund would be reasonably expected. Now we're out a couple hundred and they claim that "there's nothing they can do" even though this is complete inadequacy and poor customer service by every standard on the part of Rover's customer support team. The team needs serious communication lessons (including the supervisor, who’s even less helpful). Beware, they will just take your money and run.

I spoke to Josh from Trust and Safety on June 3rd around 7pm. My dog walker Nicole failed to follow my very specific instructions (in writing and in person) about keeping my dogs separate. My older dog, Teagan, cannot be around other animals. I told Nicole that I was working on finding a new home for the younger one, Phoenix, because keeping them separate wasn’t fair to them, but that was the situation. Phoenix had previously been abandoned at my home and that’s when Teagan started becoming aggressive to other animals. I had taken Teagan to a dog trainer who abused her and made the situation worse, so rehoming Phoenix was the last resort, unfortunately. I also told her that Teagan had just been spayed and needed to be kept separate to avoid injuries to her stitches. So apparently the dog walker disregarded what I had said about keeping them apart and the dogs were in a fight. She notified me about 2 hours after she checked in for her first booking time, saying that she was at urgent care due to bite wounds (she didn’t provide any photos or details behind that). She said that the dogs had a minor fight and there was a little bit of blood on the carpet, but they only had minor injuries to their ears and lips. She stopped responding to me after that. I got home to a blood bath. The front door was left unlocked and not shut all the way. There was blood on the bathroom door, floor, and walls. Blood all the way down the hall. Blood all over the bedroom door, walls, bedspread, and all over the carpet. I got Phoenix out of her kennel first. And she was severely injured - puncture wounds all over her face that were still dripping blood, both of her eyes injured, and tear wounds to one of her ears. I got her cleaned up and back in her kennel to check Teagan. Then took Teagan out, she couldn’t even walk on one of her legs and had puncture wounds all over her neck. Phoenix’s face started getting very swollen. I spoke to Josh from Rover who said that someone would be in touch with me in a day or two. It has now been 4 days and I still have heard nothing from anyone. Then the next morning, I had to surrender one or both to animal control. They took Phoenix because I think (hope) she’ll be easier to rehome and because Teagan has been in fights before and I think they would put her down. And because Phoenix needed immediate medical attention. They won’t tell me how she is. And I am simply heartbroken about it and sick about not knowing if she’s ok or not. Teagan is doing fine now. No one even showed up for the remaining two paid for and scheduled bookings with Nicole, it just showed that the booking was still ongoing until the following day when the scheduled end time was reached. I was supposed to be out of town and unreachable. But I had a personal emergency, and thankfully was here to come home and check on my dogs, who were left alone in an unsecured house severely injured for hours. There is also a massive amount of blood stains all over the new carpet that aren’t coming out. Which is the least of the issues here, but still an issue. And again, no one has followed up with me. I cannot be any more disappointed in the services I received, or with how this company has handled the incident since then. Nicole had another review two days later. So I guess she’s doing fine…
