Decided to use the app for the first time to find someone to watch our Lady. We found someone we liked and messaged her. The app forced us to msg other people if not we could not proceed. The same msg we sent to our pick was sent to 2 others.
We messaged back and fourth our pick. When I was going to book, the app sent us an automated msg from one of the other 2 people we did not want asking us if we wanted to confirm.
I did not verify info on who this automated msg was coming from and completed booking. I realized my mistake and called support within 10 minutes of booking to cancel. They charged us 50% of the total fee saying the sitter requested that. Amber C in COS refused to waive the fee and it cost us $70. Support said there was nothing they could do about it and refused to help me.
Amber lied to customer service and said she turned down several booking for ours. This was within a 10 minute window??!!! Her calendar was completely open, yet she claimed she turned down several clients. Liar! If you do use this app, do not use Amber C from Colorado Springs.

I cancelled 2 rover bookings over 3…
I cancelled 2 rover bookings over 3 weeks ago and it was 8 days before the rover booking was to happen. I have called twice because I have not received either refund and I have not been issued a refund. Terrible to do business with. They are quick to take your money but don't refund your money even following their cancellation guidelines.

I was not at all impressed with rover…
I was not at all impressed with rover it was my 1st time using the app. I will not be using the app again, from now on I will make arrangements to take my baby dog baby girl with me wherever whenever I go away. Everyone’s yard-establishment is not clean and or sanitary. They don’t look after or care for your dog like you do. They are just after the money that comes with it. My dog came back scarred mentally n physically with patches of fur missing and mange mites where the dogs had been playing biting nicks/patches of hair off my sweetie and bites on her that I did not drop her off with. Sweetie ran to the car before I could let her in. Luckily I stopped n took pictures prior to dropping her off. You should do the same. Also rover should do an investigation upon signing folk up to be a daycare boarder/care dog walker cause folks hearts are not into it like they should be.

Rover's the wrong company to depend on
Rover stands by their sitters, even when the sitter does a terrible job. Rover started good, easy to see pet sitter reviews arrange meet and greets, and thought the feature of seeing sitters having multiple bookings from the same client with multiple good ratings was a positive sign to trust a house sitter with our 2 Great Danes.
Wrong! Meet and Greet went okay and we left on vacation. Bottom line is Rover is taking no action against the sitter other than a temporary suspension despite the sitter having our dog die of neglect. The sitter noticed that our Dane had an "accident" of incontinence while sleeping, cleaned it and checked on the Dane, who raised her head groggily. Then the sitter just walked away and rechecked again 15- 30 minutes later because 2nd Dane was up and Sophie was still sleeping, couldn't rouse her from her sleep… she had already passed. Sitter did not know what to do, I had to call neighbors to come over to take the body to the vet. Neighbors saw multiple poops in the house = more signs of neglect. Neighbor also saw newspapers and packages left at front of house for multiple days, sitter had instructions to carry them inside (but only did a couple of times during the 11 days we were gone, one would think you don’t want to sitter at a house that has signs of being empty, could draw crime). Rover didn’t care. Previously the neighbors saw the sitter was gone for over 24 hours. Rover didn’t care. Don’t know what kind of person could do see a dog who peed herself while sleeping and just walk off because the dog groggily lifted her head then come back 15-30 minutes later and start panicking because the dog won’t wake up. And Rover doesn’t care (well not quite; they did say they’re sorry and “take care,” but still no penalty against the sitter who can still watch/neglect other pets.

Rover.com has uncaring money-driven people who don't love dogs
Rover.com is just a platform. It is as good as the people on it. Unfortunately you are dealing with strangers who pretend to care for dogs just because they can make money off them. This is the same as breeders or stores. Many are trying to exploit these poor defenseless animals. The first sitter who committed to the assignment knew about the issues with my dogs. One is diabetic but was as sweet as can be. The other is sweet as well but if not taken out at the right time will pee or poop inside. Many dogs do that. The first dog sitter chose to abandon her commitment 3 weeks prior to our vacation. In desperation, I reached out to a few more explaining the situation. Some random person reached out and said she didn't know how to administer insulin but will do whatever it takes to care for my beloved dog. We gave her training on administering insulin, checking blood glucose levels, and even paid her for one night's care for practice. We left detailed instructions on what to do if she showed signs of needing professional care - our vet during the day and the emergency hospital late at night. When we showed up on the actual day of the start of our vacation, we found that she had taken on a large dog and another small dog in addition to our two small dogs. The large dog, a husky, was literally biting our dogs hard right in front of us. The husky pinned my Twinkle to the floor. We were traumatized but at that point in time we had no time to do anything else as our flight was the very next morning. Two days later, I get confusing texts from the sitter indicating that she was messing up and Twinkle was in trouble. Unfortunately the texts came in at 4:30 AM in local time in the country we were in. It was clear that Twinkle was having an episode and that the symptoms had started the previous day. I called her back when I finally read the texts in the morning. She said quite casually, "You need to talk to your vet. Your dog has passed." Words cannot express what I felt. I was bawling loudly. The vet informed me that Twinkle was brought in at 9 AM and she had already passed. What this means is that the sitter simply did nothing for 5 hours. We had left detailed instructions on where to take care, an emergency hospital after hours that we had already spoken to. We said we would take care of all expenses. This callous individual simply did not bother to do anything until it was too late. She delivered my beloved Twinkle's body to the vet. Her cruelty was such that she offered me a refund of the $75 she wanted for administering the injections, but she wanted $69 of that back for the Uber ride. So, she was essentially wanting the full charge for the full 1.5 weeks for my two dogs even after killing one of them within two days. My other dog looked traumatized and uncared for. Clearly, this individual takes in dogs but does nothing to take care of them. It was hearbreaking to see that from a distance. Thankfully, my wife was able to contact some kind friends who took Totoro in. Rover has agreed to modify the booking and not charge me for the days beyond the ones my dogs were in this person's care. To me, it was not about the money. I am heartbroken because she was the sweetest soul and she did not deserve to die this way. Don't trust anyone on this site. Don't leave your baby with them. Leave them with a friend or a trusted contact or you will lose them as I did and that is the worst feeling. I still cannot sleep. I have never felt this much pain in my entire life.

BEWARE! No Customer Service and no Recourse on Bad Sitters
Don't trust the hype. We've used this service multiple times. Our last two sitters cancelled on us the day before we were to leave for our trip. After months of planning and lots of money spent. And you are straight up out of luck! There is no customer service AT ALL. We filed a complaint and we tried contacting support. We never received a response to either our complaint, or when we flagged the sitters. Nothing. Not a word from Rover. Also you should know that if a sitter gets injured on your property, Rover won't cover anything. These sitters can actually sue you. BEWARE. They use bottom of the barrel type of people that have no follow up or respect, just lazy people who have no other way to make a living. The last sitter didn't even stay over night, she snuck out at night to go back home and leave our 3 dogs alone by themselves. We saw the whole thing on our cameras. These sitters can't be trusted. BEWARE before you use this service. They give you zero support.

Our team received your feedback and we’re sorry about any difficulties. Feedback from users like you is an important part of maintaining a quality experience and we appreciate you taking the time to share this insight.
I'm sorry to hear you've experienced trouble with finding a reliable pet sitter, and I'd love to take the opportunity to help- please feel free to give us a call the next time you need services as we can help make the right match for you!
Additionally, service providers are small business owners- which means they are encouraged to have their own small business insurance for accidents and injuries that are related to the inherent risk of pet sitting. We ask all service providers listing their services to comply with all local laws regarding this subject.
Further, our 24/7 Trust and Safety team is standing by in case things do not go according to plan with your stay- as you had mentioned a previous experience with a service provider leaving your pets alone, please give our team a call so that we may conduct a holistic review! Safety is our priority and we review any situation brought to our attention in non-biased holistic reviews so that we can further provide a safe, effective and caring service to the community.

Not sure how there are so many good…
Not sure how there are so many good reviews on here, makes me wonder if they are paid reviews or friends. We have tried rover.com now three times and we will never use them again!!! Go with a company that is reputable and not just a single sitter. This site is also full of kids who ask the most bizarre questions that make me wonder how they even passed the screening on Rover!!! Our pet sitter bailed at the beginning of our trip, which meant that we drove5 hours to our destination and we had already received 20 messages from our sitter. She didn’t know what to do because the dogs were barking so we called her and gave her some tricks (she didn’t follow any of the written instructions we left because she was asking things that we left in the letter and doing the opposite). We felt that our pups were not safe when she asked at 2am if someone else could come!!!!! We were afraid she would leave our pups alone so we turned around and drove 5 hours back home through the night!!!! We came home to pee on the floor, no water in the dog bowls, and no food!!!! This was within 12 hours, I don’t even want to think what would have happened had we stayed out our vacation!!!! That same day her availability was wide open so which means Rover did nothing nor do they actually care about the well being of our fur babies!!!!! They said they were launching an investigation but I guess she is able to harm more dogs in the mean time. On other sites Rover.com has 1.3 star rating and I regret not reading those and just trusting the site reviews!!! If you love your dog find a good company. These are just individuals that the only screening they have is a background check, they have nothing to lose because it is not their actually business!!! The fact that Rover doesn’t deal with these abuses is beyond me and I have no idea how they can still legally be up and running!!! If you love your dog…..don’t use Rover.com!!!!
