Clueless minder who called me within 10 minutes to tell me my dog wasn’t settling. I did a meet and greet the week before at a local park. The minder lives in student accommodation and clearly has no permission to board dogs. I had to pick my pet up at 10pm after several panicky text massages. I wouldn’t recommend this company ☹️☹️

On Aug 22 nd. thru Aug. 26th Timothy ($39.00) and his wife were supposed to watch my Pom (Nite). Halfway thru the week, I received a call that had to pick up my dog because they could not get up and take him outside early am because of the neighborhood they lived in. I said you should have informed me before I left my pet. I had to cut my vacation short and come back to pick up my dog. Once I arrived at Timothy's house to get my dog he was traumatized! When they handed me the cage it had a training pad and was filled with urine. They were not taking my dog out to use the bathroom nor did they walk him. I inform Timothy that I wanted a refund for the time he did not watch Nite which was 1 1/2 days. He informed me that I had to wait until the 3rd Sept. to get paid. I say fine. The 3rd of Sept. has come and gone and I have not received my refund of $58.50. Instead, Timothy blocked my number and will not answer the phone. This is a warning for anyone that sees Timothy for $39.00 DO NOT! place your pet in his care.

The sitter lost our dog. Rover offered no support beyond looking for their own best interest. They took notes on what happened, screened messages with the sitter during/after the incident. They offered no useful information, nor contact any dog control agencies or social media sites. I was left on my own to figure it out, and the only reason the dog was rescued quickly was due to a Facebook group I posted on. I would never use this service nor recommend to others.

There should be consequences for sitters who cancel last minute. I am now left with a financial loss as our sitter canceled right before our trip. I cannot get a refund on flights. All boarding kennels are booked. Just ridiculous they can do this with no conscience or consequences.

I booked a house sitter, Janet S., for my dog 3 months in advance of my week long cruise. Was in constant contact with her throughout that time period. She came to my house, I showed her around, she met my dog and I GAVE HER A KEY TO MY HOUSE. The night before my cruise (8 pm) I texted her to ask what her last name was as it hadn't occurred to me to ask previously and she was going to be in my home for a week. I didn't think this was an unreasonable ask. She answered wanting to know why I would need that information. Really?? She then cancelled me with no further notice. Again, this was 12 hours before I was to board my cruise. I was obviously left to scramble for other options, which thankfully worked out. My biggest complaint is that because this person never showed up, I was unable to give her the 0 star rating that she so deserved and to warn other clients of her questionable behavior. What was she trying to hide? Oh, and SHE STILL HAS MY HOUSE KEY.

I have booked with Rover 4 times and 3 of these 4 bookings were rudely and inexplicably canceled - 2 at the last minute causing extreme inconvenience and anxiety. However- there are never consequences for cancellations as you can only review sitters AFTER they’ve stayed with your pet. So- there is no downside for irresponsible cancelling to the sitter and no way for an owner to be aware of the sitter’s history of doing this. When I called Rover to complain, they said they’d “coach” the sitter- as though that would make a difference. If they truly cared about providing good service they would allow reviews PRIOR to their services as well. Never again. Cannot be trusted. Seeing Rover's response- that "the rare emergency can happen" I can assure readers the reason for canceling was not an emergency, but simply a choice by the sitter. She claimed she had meetings that interfered with our pets' "schedule" but never attempted to determine if there were workarounds- which there totally were. She didn't even say she was sorry- it was ALL about her and no concern for us. She simply abruptly cancelled and IMMEDIATELY turned around and listed herself available for the SAME dates- and conveniently the Labor Day weekend before OUR scheduled dates of 9/6-11. She also increased her rate from $45 to $84! This was no emergency, it was an irresponsible, inconsiderate, and frankly callous action by a sitter- whose reviews are great. ROVER- I challenge you to be accountable and allow reviews of experiences PRIOR to sittings to alert potential owners so they can avoid the very unpleasant situation we experienced. Had a friend not stepped up we would have lost thousands of dollars and had our 40th anniversary ruined.

Attempted to work with a pet sitter from Rover and once she found out I was gay she stated I would have to find another pet sitter as she doesn't service the lgbtq community.

I needed a sitter for my 2 German Shepherds.I had an unexpected death and I had to attend a funeral in Ohio. I could not have been more disappointed. The sitter scammed ROVER and scammed me. She wanted direct payment made to her plus more when I returned. She asked me not to text her because Rover could read the texts. I bought her the groceries she wanted. When I got home, all of my food and beverages were almost gone, including a whole bottle of wine. She called to say she walked the dogs. My neighbor told me she never left the backyard. She ruined a good piece of cookware, used up detergent and tried to get more money than what was agreed on. I live in SW Florida, be careful of any sitter who claims decades of experience.
