Don't let this company fool you. They take no responsibility for their dog sitters. I have used them four times and three of those were really bad experiences and when you call Rover, they defer responsibility back on to the sitter. Then, to make it worse, they don't do anything about that sitter. I've had them not show three times and those same sitters are still working. They try to make it better with a credit but who wants a credit to get horrible sitters? A credit doesn't buy your piece of mind back. You're better off with a local company that has to take responsibility because word of mouth is everything to them and not this company that thrives because its a big company that can afford mass marketing. Trust me, if you care about your dog, don't use Rover.

Hi Matt, our team received your feedback and we appreciate you taking the time to share this insight. Safety is a priority at Rover and it isn't taken lightly. All sitters on Rover must pass a background check before they can start to promote their business. To ensure that sitters meet our community standards, we hand review each profile and offer educational resources to help them succeed. Rover can investigate further and take appropriate action as needed. If there are any additional details or specifics you'd like to share, please don't hesitate to reach out, our Customer Support team is available 24/7 at 888-453-7889.

Rover doesn't vet their sitters well…
Rover doesn't vet their sitters well enough. It's easy for sitters to put on a good face on the site, but it's hard to know what actually goes on behind the scenes because our pets can't tell us. I'm sure there are good sitters, but I have experienced a poor sitter myself and I have witnessed a neighbor sitter kicking dogs, being aggressive in general and keeping dogs in the garage (in the hot, humid summer) even though her reviews are good.

My dog was injured during a stay
My dog was injured during a stay. The care taker was irresponsible, and the communication was poor. I don't know how Rover chooses their care takers but they need to do a better job. We did a meet and greet and they seemed quiet and distant. That should have been my first sign but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Rover HAS NOT been caring, kind or helpful in any means when it comes to helping cover the medical expenses arising from the injury. They have made the whole process an absolutely hell. At the end of the day, I want my pet to feel good again. READ THEIR TERMS BEFORE YOU BOOK. Please do yourself a favor and get someone trustworthy to watch your pet, don't trust this company to back you up.

All I wanted to do was write a quick…
All I wanted to do was write a quick review.
I was not permitted to do this. I mean the software said the review was saved and would appear, but it didn't. I had to go back and forth with the vendor, etc. It turns out that even though I never mentioned housekeeping or requested those services, I had to rate the vendor on housekeeping in order for my review to appear. It totally changed the experience with the service. I doubt I will use it again.

Quality is very sitter dependent...
We have used Rover 3 times and the first 2 expierences were awful and I was hesitant to try again. One Rover sitter had an aggressive dog that kept lunging at my puppy during drop off. Our third time, the Rover sitter was amazing and we will definetely book with her again. Overall, I am disappointed with Rover-the quality of their sitters and the lack of support and accountability from the Rover support team.

Don't Waste Your Time!
I have used Rover multiple times and it has become more and more incredibly frustrating. There is no accountability for the sitters and Rover is just here to make money without any consideration for the customer or their pets. Honestly, I don't even know where to begin.... from a minor perspective many people just don't respond, calendars are not up to date, critical things are not disclosed on profiles and there are charges for every little thing. In addition, you are charged up front and have to go through ridiculous to hurdles to get your money back if you have to cancel even if it is an issue with the sitter. I have had a sitter ghost me and become unresponsive after multiple attempts and multiple days. While Rover could clearly see that was the case they still wanted to reach out to the sitter to see if she would respond to them and review their contract for a cancelation policy. It was not a shock that the sitter didn't respond to the messages and email they sent but still had to go through the red tape to get a FULL refund or else I was told I would get a 50% refund for a service I did not receive and it was just how their "system" worked. Let's it make it harder for the customer who was left high and dry and had to scramble to make alternate arrangements for her pets. Lastly, I had a sitter QUIT and LEAVE my animals in the middle of their stay saying they couldn't do they service while I was our of state. I had to call friends and family to go pick up my pets. Needles to say the house was a mess because they had been left. And if your wondering if the sitter was allowed to continue to work with Rover she was. If you care about your pets don't bother, they have left me in a bind multiple times with unacceptable as service.

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with your review. We are sorry to hear about this experience.
Rover does allow everyone to apply to be a Rover sitter; however we also require all sitters on our site to pass a background check and go through the approval process before being able to list their services on Rover. We do send out regular reminders to sitters to update their availability and their accounts are affected if they do not. We are also currently testing more reminder options! With that being said, being that each sitter operates as their own business owner, we do additionally recommend that owners and sitters proceed with Meet & Greets to ensure that the service is a good fit and to ensure that each booked service is successful and rewarding for all parties. We encourage all pet owners and care providers to thoroughly discuss any potential concerns, needs, expectations and full care plans prior to a booking to determine the best fit for you and your loved ones.
Although we understand the rare emergency can happen, please be assured we take these situations seriously, review them holistically, and take necessary actions to ensure that last minute cancellations are not abused. In cases where a cancellation has occurred, we request documentation to support the appropriate cancellation process has been applied. Once received, we will perform a full review of both the incident and conduct of parties involved, as well as our abilities to assist further. Although our reviews are confidential, we value your feedback and appreciate your patience.
Again, we are so sorry about this experience and remain available if you would like to discuss past stays, future stays or general questions.
If you have any further questions, our Support Team is available 24/7 at 1-888-453-7889.

Just a middle man ripping off dog owners and sitters
They add 15% to the fees for the dog owner, and take 15% off of the dog sitter for each booking and they don’t provide any support that you won’t get through your pet insurance/pet sitters insurance. Not worth it - ask in your local Facebook group for recommendations and cut out the middle man.
