My female dog had rectal bleeding and had to be put on an IV for 2 days immediately when we picked her up. My male dog now has kennel cough after dealing with her ordeal. He has been nowhere other than with the caregiver. I would never use this caregiver. It is nothing like it is described on the profile

Search for available sitters, then when you message them they say they are booked?? Happens so many times you just give up. Tried this service several times with numerous sitters and it’s always the same result.

Rover doesn't do anything when something goes wrong. We had an experience where we were lied to by the sitter about their service. They ran a kennel service and shipped my dogs off somewhere (location unknown) during their stay. I only found out when we kept pressing for photos. They also put my reactive dogs in a pack without speaking to us first and they have way more dogs than they were supposed to. After reporting this to Rover. They send me a few emails, basically lip service and that was it. I checked, the sitters account is still up, Rover didn't even make them update their profile! So Rover is turning a blind eye to the whole thing. Talk about irresponsible.

Our dog was underfed and looked so stressed and gaunt when we picked him up from the sitter’s house. Our dog weighed 10.4 lbs when we dropped him off at the sitter but was down to 8.2 when when we got him back. We took him to the vet 2 days after we got him back to make sure there is no injury and to document his health.

I took my newly adopted dog to a local Rover sitter, because I had a family emergency. I clearly explained the dog had little manners due to my limited time with her. The sitter never once made me aware of any problems and said she'd sit my dog again. The next time, she didn't answer any messages I sent. There must be some private review/rating system, because all sitters I contacted later said they're booked, even though their calendars were open. I made another Rover account with a different email address, and my newest sitter said my dog was phenomenal. It is incredibly unfair to have a system that follows owners/dogs for life, especially when reviews can be subjective. Not to mention, there's no way to refute what was written. Rover never responded to my requests for help.

My complaint is with the company itself. My daughter was promised a referral fee for me signing up and you all somehow tricked us and said I had an account six or eight years ago which I have no knowledge of and then you still charged me the higher rate of commission when I watched a dog. If I had an account before a certain date I was supposed to pay a lower commission rate but you turned the tables both ways very deceptive. I will never give you a Good review to anyone I talk to.

As someone looking for pet care, the app and website are both almost impossible to use. You are required to retype many paragraphs of information for each request, rather than being able to send your request to a few people at once. You can favorite sitters to look back at later, but I've searched high and low for where to find the list of favorited sitters and it is nowhere to be found. As a sitter, I worked for several weeks before being notified that the person who's dog I was caring for had given a fake card number and therefor there was no way for me to be paid anything for all of the hours I had worked.

I will never and I mean never use this service again. I hired a sitter from this so called service and the sitter I hired was supposedly a 5 star sitter. I went out of town to attend a funeral and my trip was cut short because at 6:00 in morning I had to rush home because this negligent sitter did not close the door to my house allowing one of my dogs to escape to my neighbors house. When she tried to do the neighborly thing and return him walking over to my house seeing my front door wide open she yelled out to me and was met by my other dog who went into protect mode and bit her until she retreated back to her home. Meanwhile this sitter is upstairs sleeping absolutely clueless to what was going on. Even after she heard the commotion and eventually came to see what was going on with the dogs she was supposed to be watching my neighbor (still being ran off by my dog by the way) had to scream at this sitter to help her get my dog away. Then to top it all off my dog gets taken by the city for quarantine and rover suspends my account. If I could give this services a zero I absolutely would I have filed a complaint with the BBB about this company. An absolute joke
