Easy to use. Love the ease of creating. A profile for my pup to match him with sitters. What is frustrating is the calendar. It’s annoying to send people requests because the calendar shows they are available, just to hear back and they say they are busy and can’t sit.

Rover has been a great resource for me finding my dream job as well as care for my own pets. I've met some great people and even though it isn't always the easiest job I love it so much. However I gave it 4 stars for a few reasons. Rover needs to screen the pet sitters they add to their platform better then they do now. The convenience of signing up and having the advertising done for you means that not every single sitter is going to be the best. That's why I encourage all owners to meet with potential sitters and ask questions. If you aren't 100% sure about the sitter, go with your gut. The second reason is because Rover's communication with their sitters is sub-par. When communicating about changes coming or listening to what sitters want we always here "we are looking into it" or "we are researching for the future." Never clear information about dates, how far along, or how long testing phases will last.

Rover has become an invaluable resource for finding the right care for our dog when we're away. It's also become a great place to meet people who share your same love and humanity for animals. A place you can feel safe using their network.

Great experience and flexibility. I wish there were more affordable Rover people near where I am.

My most recent experience with a Rover sitter has been great and I have found a true gem to help me with my Yorkie puppy. I am very fortunate to have found the right sitter. In the past I'd tried other sitters with my prior dog and not everyone is as professional, responsible or as experienced. You may have to try a few sitters to ensure you get the right match, but when you do, the effort will be worth it. Also, sitter profiles can be misleading but interviews or meet and greets with them are a must to ensure you are making the right decision with the right person. You wouldn't leave your child with just anyone, nor should you with your pet. I've heard a few horror stories about some sitters, so take the necessary time to make a good decision.

With regard to the qualifications of your individual care providers, we have been very pleased on both occasions for which we booked sitters through Rover. The booking process is easy and accurate. I would have rated 5 stars as opposed to 4 if Rover was a little less aggressive in protecting its territory by insisting that all communication with the sitter go through Rover. There are times when that can be difficult or impossible depending upon technology available. For example, no internet access. Additionally, if Rover insists on that approach, it's information on the pet owners should be more accurate. For example, our first experience was for a sitter watching 2 of our aged Yorkies and the second experience was for a sitter watching only one as one of our beloved fur babies had passed away. We keep getting promotional emails letting us know what Jack should know. He is no longer with us on this earth and it is heartbreaking to see those emails. We will continue to use Rover in the future as the providers we have met have both been wonderful, but my words of advice to the company would be to examine its marketing materials for errors before hitting the send button.
