This site has a bunch of millennials on it who don’t want to work. Even though their calendars say they are available and that they can do my area, they say they’re not available and can’t come this far. Who is monitoring this? I’m going to leave a review for these people each as individuals

Sitter did not follow instructions and left my house a disaster! He was not trustworthy.

This entire experience was an absolute disaster. We spent thousands of dollars on a trip. Set a rover sitter up and had a meet and greet. I have to admit we were eager to go with this sitter because of the background and profile. The “vet school” got me. I reached out and my first question was will it just be you and her? Her response was it will just be me and her. Upon Bridgette’s request, and her selected time, we met Saturday morning, two days before our travel date. When my husband and I arrived, she was clearly not ready. Her hair and clothes were soaked. She tells us she had a 1year old son, which was really surprising because she said it would just be her and the dog. We get upstairs she explains she has no furniture at all because she just moved in last November. We asked her about Vet school she gave a few extremely weird answers and avoided the subject. She then tells us that she has a partner who’s sleeping in the next room. Surprise number two. Seems like this could have been answered when I asked questions. Her evasive answers and random surprises should have been enough red flags but we nervously asked questions explained how important this dog is to us and how long we’ve been waiting to take this trip. She rushed us out, understandably, since she did mention having an appointment at 10. She asked us in the future if we could just pay her on the side and she would give me her phone number on the side because it was against “Rover rules” to talk outside of the app. I asked if we could just talk through the app so we don’t get I trouble. She agreed. Something was just off with her. The sweet innocent profile didn’t add up with who we were meeting. We agreed on the time to meet on Monday. She cancelled with absolutely no explanation or notice less than 15 minutes from the meet up time. She blocked my phone number. My husband called a few times and then she ultimately blocked his phone number as well. This is absolutely unacceptable. The most unprofessional thing we have ever experienced. And to be offered a $50 credit was just another slap in the face. We would never use or recommend their services to anyone.

I used rover.com to find a pet sitter. The connected me to a lady close to my home. I was gone for 4 days and in that 4th day the pet sitter called and said my dog was sick. I asked her to take him to the vet. When she got to the vet, the vet called me on my cellphone and said my dog temperature was 104 degrees, his organs have shut down, his gums are purple and he has no pulse. The vet said he looks like he’s suffering from heat exhaustion. So she left my dog outside in the heat and he died. Rover told me that they fired the pet sitter but I found out that she was hired back. What does that say about them.

Very bad experience. Came home to a very sad and anxious dog with an injured face, eye infection, house full of blood and poop stains. Dog was potty-trained, healthy and happy when I left. Dog sitter was supposed to stay over 11 days, neighbors say they only saw him 2-3 days.

The dog sitter said they had no pets! But had great views so went with any way. To find out there was 6 other dogs in the house !!! And when I went back to collect days later there was same amount but different dogs !! They where using it as a cash cow milking it which is awful and I believe a dog bording licence should be used. I could hear one dog locked out the back away from the others !!!

I can't believe this platform has excellent reviews. They MUST be paid for. I tried to find a dog sitter through it and it was a terrible experience. 1st, they show different price from what they charge you at the end, for example I chose among sitters for $18 a day since the rover showed a few of those in the area, but when clicking on booking button it gives you completely different total, and breaks down to $35 a day. That was the first "what?" Then it gets even worse, uppon messaging one sitter I get response from three different ones, for example I message John and then get a response from Pam. What? again. I message Pam back (whos rate is three times more then what i was looking for and whos profile i didnt even look at or got any idea who that person is) and say sorry I never messaged you, idk why you are messaging me. Pam of course gets offended. Turns out Rover automatically sends out requests to different sitters in the area on your behalf. Without your knowledge or consent. Sitters that are completely different prices for what you were initially looking for, thus trying to sell you more expensive ones. Such a creepy business model, and who does it help at the end? Not the dog owners, not the sitters and definitely not dogs. Those sitters get confused and mad at you for sending them requests and then declining them. At the end, you end up with a bunch of angree inboxes from those sitters, close your Rover account completely disappointed and go to free craigslist community for finding a dog sitter. This is just one of those tech bros getting capital of off people's disconnection and lack of community. They did not create anything helpful even, not for my personal experience at least. Dog owners, Avoid at all cost.

Our pet sitter is as totally in experienced to handle the dog . She dropped off the pet back . Ruined our travel plans leaving us without back up . Unacceptable experience and will not trust sitters on rover as they are not vetted
