Easy toEasy to book. Frustratingly hard to cancel. book
Easy to book. Frustratingly hard to cancel. My dog has issues. booked a sitter and meet up before to make sure it was OK. Both agreed it would not be a good match. I cancelled on Rover. "Rover needs to review this request before we cancel and refund." 6 days later, no response. No option to see status in my dashboard. No live chat to ask. No phone number listed. Googled phone number for human and called. Bad automated responses and a transfer before I got it cancelled.
Do better with issues/refunds Rover. Please.

My first and last time using Rover
My first and last time using Rover. I am in complete shock of their lack of intelligence, common sense, and zero customer service. Our experience with our sitter was a nightmare, but I won’t even get into that. I called the day our booking ended because a ROVER representative told me to call back to make sure the person that referred me got her $20 credit. Long story short, the person that referred me sent me a link to the person she uses. They were not available, so they sent me a link to someone else who was not available, this happened about 4 times and finally I just picked someone. Now Rover is giving me a problem because it was not booked through their link??? I spoke with a ROVER representative the date I booked, that told me they noted my chart and just call back when my booking was over and they would give my friend her $20 credit. Now that is all a lie and now I spoke with 2 incompetent employees that sound like the call is being sent out of the country and are robots. They both interrupted me talked over me and just kept repeatedly talking about the link. Like a script. I asked them is it worth $20 to ROVER to receive a bad review? And to lose multiple customers??? No response, Be assured I will never use ROVER again, nor will my friend that referred me. She used to use ROVER monthly. I see/talk to about 20 patients a day, I will make sure they know about my experience and never even think of using ROVER. I think it is extremely sad and pathetic your company is run so poorly. It is not even about the money. Hopefully, one day you will comprehend what you are doing wrong, and if not I will make sure to let the world know.

NEVER use Rover nor recommend their service
I confirmed Rover service with Sandi in Houston Texas. She came over for a meet and greet, and at that time she met my 4 dogs and I gave her keys to my home so that she could come and go as necessary during her in-home pet sitting stay.
I requested that she be at my home at 12:30pm on 6/26 as I had to leave for the airport by 1pm. I wanted her in my home before I left.
At approximately 12pm on 6/26, I received a text from her, telling me that her phone had died, and she would have to communicate with me through her laptop and did she still need to come over at 1230pm.
I responded with yes, I need you to be here at 12:30 because I am leaving at 1pm.
Needless to say, 1pm came and she never arrived. I continued to text her after I arrived at the airport. She did not respond.
She finally responded, she stated she was at my house, knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell, but no one was answering.
I responded back to her with, you have a set of keys. What’s going on? She didn’t respond.
I called Rover security and safety. They took the information offered to have someone else pick of the pet sitting stay. I said that is not possible as I am at the airport, and they will not have keys to get into my house. They took the information and said I would receive a phone call within 24 hours.
Concerned about my pets, I did not get on my flight, left the airport, and returned home. I see Sandi’s vehicle parked 1/2 in the driveway and 1/2 in the street. I asked her why didn’t she go in and where were my keys?
She was heavily crying, and stated that the keys were at her house and that she had left in a hurry and forgot them. I asked her to please go get them. She proceeded to continue crying, and apologizing for ruining our trip.
I told her not to worry, as her state seemed quite fragile. I asked her to go get my keys and get them back to me. She did return with my keys within 20-30 minutes.
I made alternate (last minute) arrangements for the dogs. They ended up being kenneled at my vets office ($620) and we had to purchase two more tickets ($1200) to catch a later flight in order to meet out 9am appointment on 6/27 at the attorneys office in Florida.
I never received the 24 hour response phone call back from Rover. Had I left my pets, unattended, they would still be locked in their crates for greater than 48 hours later.
I reached out a second time on 6/28 to Rover and they said ( again) there wasn’t a manager available to speak with me. They would start the 24 hour response time again.
At 330 (EST) a Rover supervisor finally returned my Safety Concern phone call. He said we are very sorry for your experience, and will give you a $50 Rover credit. I said, I am seeking assistance with the subsequent money I had to pay ($1800+) for the emergency pet care and 2 more plane tickets. He apologized and said, we will not offer any financial restitution.
I honestly can’t believe this, I am so very disappointed at this level of service especially when we are talking about living, breathing creatures. Had I left on that earlier flight my pets could have severely suffered maybe even died (one has a severe heart murmur).
I found this entire situation absolutely unacceptable.
Hello Rover, Thank you for responding. I did call the number you mentioned below. I was told "we will not offer any financial restitution", nor would the supervisor let me speak to his mgr. Basically, completely dismissed my concerns with an apathetic apology.

Snowflakes and snobs in abundance. Most are interested more in money and passing judgment on disadvantaged people, all the while thinking that their own faeces doesn't stink.
There are multiple other options available other than using SNOWFLAKE CENTRAL

Worst customer service
Worst customor service!
The pet sitter was totally irrsponsible and I complained to Rover customer service and they could not care less! Do not trust them with your furbabies!

Hi Dhruva, we're sorry to hear this was your experience. After looking into your stay, I would like to remind you that when looking for a pet sitter to check the boarding rate under the calendar on the sitter's profile- this will tell you how many pets the sitter can host per night! Additionally, in your search parameters you can always select 'no other pets' for a more personalized experience. If you have any questions, please give our 24/7 Support Team a call at 1-888-453-7889.

Where to even start
Where to start? First of all, people don't properly fill out their petsitting profiles and the app doesn't have a way for you to report that to Rover, so you get all kinds of crap results when you do a search. Like searching for a household with NO DOGS and they show two German Shepherds in their profile. Next, when my reservation got cancelled, they couldn't tell me why or how it happened. The sitter acted surprised about it (in dealing with the person they were picking the dog up from in my absence) but I'm sure it turned out she cancelled it since she ghosted me -- three hours before she was supposed to pick up the dog. Again, no way to report that to them PLUS they can't tell on their end how the reservation got cancelled and refunded. Lastly, I'm looking for boarding and it kept giving me housesitters who don't board. Lastly, I couldn't figure out how to cancel a request once submitted, and the sitters who messaged me to say they declined didn't go through the process of declining so that I could archive them and manage only the contacts that were still open. An absolute WASTE OF MY FREAKING TIME!

Honesty is a punishment
From the beginning when I found rover it was life changing for me and thats why I'm really sorry to have to write this review but I feel extremely let down.
I've been using rovers services for my own dog since August last year, after a couple of month I decided to become a sitter myself as I work self employed and can decide my own hours and also my dog loves the company so I felt it was a great fit for me. Ive cared for dog through rover since January, both boarding and doggy daycare. I've had great reviews and feedback from the owners, never any issues. Always gone by the book despite a lot of people wanting to take things outside of rover I never felt comfortable doing it without rovers backup. However, yesterday my whole view of rover changed and I discovered I'd be better off without them. Which I'm very sad about.
I had two dogs from the same household overnight last weekend. This is all my fault as I also informed rover about when it happened. I misunderstood the owner and thought the dog I was caring for could be off the lead, we went to the park to play frisbee. Once I took the dog off the lead she was first hanging around me and then starting walking back to my flat, she came back at first when I called her but second time she ran away from me. I then understood she probably looking for her owner and wanted to get back home. The chase for her started, having multiple people helping me to bring her back going different directions. I called the owner after 10 minutes to tell him what have happened, luckily the dog was wearing an air tag so he could send me her locations. about 2,5h looking the owner had come back to the city and could join in on the search. we had been circulating around one big hill, luckily it was a Sunday and the roads were closed. We tracked her down and once she realized her owner was there she willingly came back with him.
During the search I had called Rover to inform them what have happened, they gave me good tips on what to do meanwhile but they couldn't help me further as the UK office was closed. I called rover back the same day to inform them that we found the dog and that i wanted him to get a refund even though he said he didn't want it. (the owner was very good about the situation, telling me it had happened before etc, and still wanted me to care for them again) Anyways the day after I had an email from rover asking me about all details. I was as honest as I could and told them this was my fault. The day after, I noticed all my future bookings had been cancelled. My profile was gone and I had an email from rover saying :
Hi Sofie,
My name is Damien,
We're writing to inform you that the incident with Casey has made you ineligible to keep offering your services as a sitter on Rover. We’ve decided to deactivate your Rover account pursuant to Terms of Service section 4. We're sorry, but safety is our top priority and this decision is final and cannot be appealed.
Please let us know if we can answer any questions.
Sincerely,
--
Damien
I don't feel this has been dealt with the right way, I get punished for being honest. Doing everything I could think off to make this right. And this is how they react back... People make mistakes. I feel like rover never saw how I handled the incident by being honest, keeping them in the loop , spending 3 hours looking for her and refunding the dog owner.
Deeply disappointed :(
