I like what Rover does and I'm happy with the service. The issue I have is with the app. It's very difficult to see upcoming appointments and to book appointments.

All revenue originates from pet owners, please prioritise us.
There are too many calendars that have not been updated. I also had a sitter accept a booking for March and cancel 2 weeks later.
This is disorganised, unbusinesslike and childish behaviour. An adult takes commitments seriously, and keeps their word.
I suggest you prominently publish all cancellations (short or long notice) to the sitters’ profiles.
I also suggest that you remove sitters from the site if they cancel repeatedly or if they are not competent enough to update their calendars.
I further suggest that you allow customers to leave a review on canceled bookings.

Hi Sushama, thank you for taking the time to provide us with your review. Pet sitters and dog walkers are the cornerstones of our business. We're here to provide ongoing support and to help each individual grow their business—and we’re in it for the long haul. These fees help us do that, along with facilitating Rover’s customer support, 24/7 trust and safety coverage, essential site maintenance, and product improvements. They also help cover benefits for sitters, including the costs of processing payments and ongoing promotion of sitters on Rover. Lastly, our service fees cover our Rover Guarantee reimbursement program, which provides peace of mind in case of unexpected injuries or damages. We appreciate your feedback and hear your concerns. If there is anything we can help clarify for you, don’t hesitate to reach out. Rover Support is available to you 24/7 at 888-453-7889. -Lexie

Mixed experiences
We’ve had two very different experiences. Our first was horrible whereby we met up with a lady & her partner at the local park, within 30 seconds of her Vizsla (2 years old) meeting our Vizsla (7 months at the time), he attacked him quite badly for no apparent reason. He latched on my V’s ear & drew blood. Even after this she still requested to look after our V - I reported this to Rover, I’ve had no updates after being asked for a statement & still to this day she is advertising her V on her profile as friendly with all dogs🤷🏼♀️
That aside our second experience was amazing! She’s a part time veterinary nurse & our V now loves staying with her & her golden retriever ‘Quaver’.
I think it really depends on the person, I’m glad I didn’t completely score off Rover, but also glad I took caution with meet ups beforehand & that you need to see how they react with your pets on multiple meet ups prior to the stay/arrangement.

Hi Emma, thank you for taking the time to share both of these experiences. We’re sorry to hear about the frightening incident during your first meet and greet, and we understand how concerning that must have been. Situations like that are taken seriously, and reports are reviewed by our Trust and Safety team to help assess what happened and determine next steps. We’re also glad to hear your second experience was such a positive one and that you found a sitter your dog feels comfortable with. If you're interested, our Trust and Safety team is available to discuss your first experience, open a case if not done already, and answer any questions you have. You can reach them 24/7 at (888) 727-1140. -Brittney

Over A Decade Of Using Rover: A Review
This review contains my overall experience using Rover for over a decade up to this point. Recently, I had a good experience with a boarder. But just prior to that, We had an experience with a sitter who had created a sanitation issue where the dogs were kept. Unfortunately, over the past few years I’ve been running into more inconsistency and more neglectful sitters than I used to. And Rover’s platform doesn’t seem to be doing a great job weeding this out lately or taking proper responsibility after the fact. It’s not that I can’t sometimes find a great sitter… It’s that something has caused the consistency in quality experiences I’ve had to decline. I’ve mentioned this to others and heard similar things from friends. Unfortunately, that decrease in quality has also come with an increase in cost to use Rover as well. Rover is taking larger percentages, without improving the quality of my experiences. In fact, they’ve gotten worse. And when they are bad, Rover has done a poor job of taking their share of the responsibility if something goes wrong. I’m guessing it’s due to both to a pandemic related expansion and Rover becoming publicly traded in 2021 which inherently comes with shareholder pressure to increase profits no matter what. Before that, I had many less bad experiences finding good sitters, and honestly just better follow through if I did have a poor experience. For anyone looking to use Rover, I would highly recommend not relying purely on Rover’s ratings. At the very least, meet the sitter and inspect the location the animal will be before you confirm a booking. And check in regularly with the sitter. From my experience, the platform itself is ok, but they could implement more safety precautions. Also the fees are much higher than they should be, given the actual services provided and responsibility Rover is currently taking. If Rover is going to take what is currently nearly a 30% cut, I would expect them to act much more responsibly to prevent a bad experience and do much more if someone has one.

Greedy Rover!
I do not like that you already take 15-20% from the sitters and then charge an extra fee on top of that to people using the services. That is greed!

It was easy to contact someone, but the website could have been more useful.Because it made it seem like I had to hire someone every day. When in reality I only needed every other day.
