I want to set my availability for Mondays and Wednesdays from 2–5 p.m. and be able to change it later if needed. The app/desktop only allows to book an hour drop-in. But I needed a 3hr drop in and that isn't available.

Long-time sitter left unsupported and underpaid due to Rover’s system and support failure
I’ve been a Rover sitter for over 3 years, always managing my own bookings with ease—until recently. A client needed to shorten their booking by one day, and I attempted to make this change over 24 hours in advance. I was surprised to find I could no longer modify the booking myself. I contacted Rover support, explained what was needed (change the dates, recalculate the discount, remove penalties), and expected clear communication.
Instead, I got a rushed adjustment that was never reviewed with me. A penalty was added without my consent. I was underpaid, my client over-refunded, and Rover refuses to fix the $10 error—even though I provided every detail they needed.
The worst part? I had to explain the issue over and over again to different agents. Hours of my time wasted, and the response I got boiled down to “too bad.”
As a sitter, this leaves me feeling unsupported, unheard, and penalized for things outside of my control. I love my clients and take pride in what I do, but this experience has made me seriously reconsider using Rover as a platform.

My first and last time using a dog sitter.
There was no introduction or look around. The yard was overgrown and unkempt. She had a lean to shed with unkempt looking kennels underneath. She did not follow feeding instructions because she just stuck peanut in a crate on the inside of the house ( right on the other side of the door. ) and probably tossed the dry in with him. Yes, he is spoiled and won’t eat unless you mic wet and dry together. When I showed up to get him, she barely let me into the doorway where I told her to let him out of the crate. She had spent most of the time with another dog she said she was training….. I could have put Peanut in his crate and not have him seeming to be scared and trying to get past her once she let him out like she was afraid of her. I didn’t see any fenced clean yard, what I saw of the inside of the house ( which she didn’t seem to want me to step inside ) didn’t look very hot either.
This is snake country! She returned the wet dog food and the baggie with the 6 little treats in it back to me unused. I was only gone about 3 hours, but I don’t think she even took peanut out to potty. I had to text her to ask how things were going and she said she was busy with the dog she was training and she would text me some photos later. Which she didn’t do because she kept him in a crate. I gave her 2 stars because she accommodated my change in schedule, but of your just crating the pet you really aren’t dog sitting, are you?

Susan
Untrustworthy Sitter
Sitter did not have transportation. She lied to us and didn’t show up on the first day until I contacted her and told her she had to. That was 10:30 pm. She quit on us after 3 days of a 6 day commitment.

Moving on soon…
I like Rover and I've used them for many years, but you can tell that after their acquisition by Blackstone, they are focused on increasing profits. Not only do they take a percentage of the sitting fees, they now charge a new administrative fee "to provide customer service." Their customer services is largely automated so this is doublespeak for adding charges. Looking down the road, using Rover will be cost prohibitive. It is only a matter of time until people start moving to cheaper competitors. I am.

The app is sort of a pain
The app is sort of a pain. It seemed like I had to reenter data every other time I wanted to find information. Having to confirm, then the sitter confirm so many times was frustrating.

Love Rover HATE New Inbox
I use Rover often and the new inbox sorting system is terrible! I need to be able to see only my upcoming bookings sorted by date of booking without seeing completed bookings. I also don’t want them only sorted based on which booking I messaged in last. So for me to give 5 stars, as I would have before you changed your inbox look, you need to have the option to make it look like it did previously and have the option to only see upcoming bookings by date. Most people don’t need to see bookings that already happened unless they’re very recent and definitely don’t need to see ones from years ago on a daily basis.

The app was good but needs better support
The app was easy to use and I like that. But, I had a big problem with my pet sitter after I was already out of town and it was mid-trip (mid-booking), where I called Rover support. I was very disappointed at how unhelpful they were. It was a complete waste of my time. They did not resolve anything and did nothing to help put my mind at ease.
