I went with Rover to give my pet more attention than standard boarding. The sitter was deceiving, gave little attention, and ended up costing us a fortune in vet bills and a groomer.

Hi, very hit and miss service with Rover. I had a very good first experience but I’ve now had a terrible 2nd one. It just shows me that Rover has no control over their sitters . Our dog was meant to stay with a carer who called us within 2 hours saying she could not handle him . He was supposedly aggressive to her partner. We later discovered the carer spent the whole weekend caring for another animal at somebody else’s house , someone the carer had booked through Rover . They obviously had no intention of ever taking care of our dog at her house or was hoping to leave him at a third party . This Carer was double booking (though Rover) and maximising profits. Their profile states «only takes one booking a time » - complete lie. Both bookings went through Rover for the same time and their was no control or diligence. That ruined our holiday as we had to make alternative arrangements and worry about the care for our lovely dog. Do not trust this site without triple checking !

Not very helpful in getting refund back.

I would give a zero if I could. Very bad experience. Had a sedate concern with my sitter, wasn’t addressed at all. Customer service doesn’t exist. I told all the friends to avoid at all costs and obviously would never use it again.

Pet sitter was a “no show” and all Rover did to help me with the situation was a $20 credit and told me that I’d have to just find another sitter that was available that day. Keep in mind, I traveled out of town for the day to an event. I was late and couldn’t just simply take my dog with me since this sitter was MIA. Rover had zero support in helping me find a replacement sitter. I waited an hour outside of the sitters apartment building while on the phone with Rover’s customer service to find out they will cancel the booking for me (thanks, that’s quick & easy) but I would have to find another sitter manually (ie submitting requests and waiting for a response) when I’m already an hour late to my event!!! Rover should have called their dog sitters as a courtesy due to the situation and made the resolution for a replacement much more efficient and effective for me as their customer. That would have been great customer service. I will not be out in this position again and will not use Rover again. I understand things come up but River should be more assisting in those situations. I shouldn’t have to spell out how horrible this experience was either.

Sitter cancelled the booking whilst we were thousands of miles away leaving us in the lurch! The sitter couldn’t settle our dog who is absolutely fine staying with friends, family and at the kennels, so cancelled despite us being overseas. Better off using a kennel!

I'm an experienced dog sitter and only recently started using Rover. Unfortunately one of the first dogs booked in using the service attacked and bit my own dog. The dog's owner left me a one star review packed with accusations and false statements as they weren't happy that they had to find an alternative sitter. Frustratingly Rover wouldn't remove the owner's review from my profile. The alternative sitter was booked through Rover but, even though the new sitter also had a dog of their own, they were unaware of the biting incident. What's even more concerning is that, whilst Rover agree that the incident happened, the owner continues to be able to book their dog with other sitters on Rover. I did ask Rover to review their decision before posting this review. However their response to my request to remove the deliberately false review was "Please note that we won't take into account any further request to remove this review." In relation to the dog bite this is a young dog who has now learnt to bite to get what they want. They are highly likely to bite again particularly as their owner denies there is an issue. However Rover is still taking bookings for the dog and has merely proposed "due coaching and modifications of the pet profile". So profits seem to be taking priority over safety.

My sitter lied, my dogs weren’t taken out. I came home to multiple piles of poop in a kennel. The sitter made a mess in my kitchen and brought fleas into my home, she also lost part of a $70 prong collar. I brought all of this up to Rover and they refunded one day worth of sitting ($50). That’s not nearly enough for what it’s going to cost me to replace the collar piece that was lost, deflea my home, and replace the blanket that was soiled. Not to mention the time spent cleaning up the messes the sitter left then contacting Rover and the sitter.
