Never Trust Rover
Do not trust Rover. The company assumes no responsibility for anything that might happen to your pet. Rover does not vet their sitters. No fingerprinting or background check is involved. Pick a name from a classified ad. It's precisely the same but with the convenience of a glossy online website. Research on the internet will recount countless horror stories of lost and dead pets. Rover takes no responsibility and repeats countless times, "Rover does not employ the sitters." If you love your dog or cat, do not use Rover to find a pet sitter. As per Rover's response below, they do not vet the sitters professionally. No fingerprints are taken. Rover asks some cursory questions as dictated by their legal team. Please research all the times Rover has been taken to court. The company accepts no responsibility for the actions of the sitters who are available for employment. Again, it's akin to responding to a classified ad.
Response from Rover.com | Pet SittingJan 10, 2024
Hi Philip, thank you for sharing this feedback. Rover is intended to be an online platform where independent business owners (pet care providers) can list their services, and connect with pet owners in need of services. Each new sitter does go through and pass a background check in order to list their services on our platform. If we are made aware of any issues related to pet or human health, safety, or sitter professionalism, we take these reports very seriously, and conduct a review in order to take appropriate action. If you have further questions about the process or have details to share about a booking, we encourage you to reach back out to our 24/7 Trust and Safety team at 888-727-1140.
