This was my first time using Rover. I am very disappointed with services. My sitter quit the second day I was on vacation. They managed to get me another sitter (hours later) but I was CHARGED more MONEY so I paid twice for services I paid for! I do not recommend this company. Also there customer service is very slow.

The app is not bad but my experience with the sitter was bad which is the reason for 1 star. I will never use Rover again. The sitter Khawal Rafik. She had my 2 cats for a week. If you are a true cat person you know that cats in a new environment will go into hiding and come out when no one is around until they get a lil comfortable. On day 1 my cat was fine they were napping together...Day 2 all of a sudden my cat is dying. My cat ponyo is a scarry cat. She will hide and only come out while no one is around. This girl took my cat from her hiding spot and locked her in the room with her causing her to be even more stressed. Then had the audacity to say she is deteriorating after 1 day and took my cat to the emergency vet...which incurred a $317 bill..mind you I told her my cats vet is at Banfield.... The sitter didn't give my cat time to adjust to the new environment. She said she called 4 vets....but she didn't call Banfield... She over reacted. The vet gave my cat meds w/o checking to see if she was allergic to any of them...I honestly feel she is dishonest and trying to get more money. She already said she is studying to be a Vet....so she should have known that was normal cat behavior in a new environment. I personally believe the vet was her friend. I had both my cats since there were kittens and for her to say my cat was dying after 1 day blows my mind!!!!!. She said I don't want to pay the bill bc i was cheap🤔.No I dont want to pay a bill after I explained to her my cat's behavior and she will need timeto adjust. I feel she used my words against me and saw it as a opportunity to get more money from via Vet bill.

Pet service was fine. But the absolute unrelenting number of messages and emails I’ve gotten begging for me for feedback is just absurd.

Customer Service Response I have looked after many dogs through Rover and never had an issue before two weeks ago when it comes to been paid. This time, a booking was quoted as 'cut short' without my input as to facts of the case. The first I hear about it is when I look after another dog a week later and was waiting to be paid and I'm yet to receive the payment. I have tried customer service several times via email and just to get a stupid repeat of how they process payment and payment 'will be in due time'. As others have said 'how long does it take to get paid'. It is 10 days now. It seems as dog sitters you are powerless to do anything about it especially in the UK It is an awful waste of time to chase payment via a small claim court, but feel there is no other option! The response I get from Rover later in the day just proves my point - did not read the review. It is a UK based issue, why would I be trying to ring a US number which costs a fortune. Also checked the bank this morning and still no payment. So even though you have done the dog/cat sitting, the individual pays, you are not always guaranteed to be paid. Wonder how many pet owners know this!

I am extremely disappointed with how Rover handled a very difficult situation with one of its sitters. The sitter, A.J., turned out to have allergies and decided she could no longer care for my dog in the middle of our booking. Instead of taking responsibility for her own limitations, she blamed my dog and then spent days sending me repeated messages that I found bullying, pressuring, and gaslighting while I was desperately trying to arrange replacement care from far away. What is even more troubling is that Rover had access to the entire chat history and allowed this behavior to continue. Rather than protecting a customer whose dog was already in a vulnerable situation, Rover put me under enormous pressure to solve a problem created by a sitter they allowed on their platform. What is even more concerning is that Rover did not allow me to leave a review for A.J. after the booking ended. This means other pet owners are unable to see my experience when deciding whether to trust this sitter with their pets. I ultimately found another wonderful sitter who took Milo immediately and had no such issues with him. What I still do not understand is why A.J. is allowed to continue sitting dogs and maintain a profile on Rover after this experience. Rover should seriously review both the sitter's conduct and how its own team handled this situation. This experience completely changed the way I view Rover and the protection it claims to provide to pet owners.

Was let down 48hrs before we flew. These sitters should not be allowed to go the Rover book if they have other commitments. Would never use again!
