The sitter left early and the dogs tore our house apart. Dried up pee EVERYWHERE
The sitter left early, the dogs tore the house apart. There were multiple puddles of dried up pee all over the basement because she didn’t let the dogs outside more than twice a day. After she left early the dogs ate the front door mat the living room rug and the xxl dog bed and tore apart a laundry detergent bottle. Our house was a mess there were piles of dirt everywhere and our sink was disgusting with mushy slop wet food left in the sink and on the sponge. We will not be using rover again. We are very angry and disappointed

Had to take my dog to an emergency vet…
Had to take my dog to an emergency vet after picking her up. Gave Kathy all vet information but she did nothing. My dog had to be treated for congestive heart failure and remains on medication. Vet warned me that she may not last a week. She is doing MUCH better. My dog’s illness was obvious but Kathy did and said nothing.

Terrible Rover Customer Service
This isn’t a review of the sitters at Rover who have all been very good (aside from one who was absolutely mad and the dog came back in a state but that’s our fault for poor due diligence), this is a review of the company and their dreadful customer service. I have a dog walker through them who comes in four days a week and it’s $18 per walk. For some reason this year the dog walker booked our walks as ongoing monthly bookings rather than weekly walks like last year. Today I realized that Rover had charged me $22 per walk for every walk through January and February. I get online chat and they tell me that’s because my booking (that the sitter set up and I have no control over) covers a holiday period of 4 days in February and because of that the holiday rate applies every walk. Instead of realising this is quite clearly an admin error and apologizing and trying to resolve it they simply said sitters are busy over holiday periods which is why they charge higher rates. So users beware if you do book through Rover ensure your sitter sets it up properly otherwise you will be scammed and Rover will not help you resolve at all.

Hi Rachel,
Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for any frustration you've experienced with your recent booking. We appreciate your detailed explanation, as it helps us identify areas for improvement.
Our goal at Rover is to provide seamless experiences for both pet owners and sitters, and we regret that this was not the case for you. When it comes to the rate of a booking Sitter's have complete control over their rates and the final price of a booking, including if they want to use their holiday rate. If you how questions about a Sitter's rate ask them and they may be willing to change it.
Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we genuinely appreciate your patience as we work to improve our services. If there's anything else you'd like to share or if you have additional details to provide, please feel free to reach out to our dedicated support team at 1-888-453-7889.

Rover is the biggest scam
Rover is the biggest scam. They wanted 800.00 for 2 dogs and a cat for 5 days two visits a day. What the he n these people are usually people that cant do anything else and they charge that kind of money. I must say though the first lady was great because I paid her on the side and not with rover lol
Response from Rover.com | Pet SittingFeb 7, 2024
Hi Taryn. Our team received your feedback and we’re sorry about any difficulties. We require all sitters to complete and pass a background check and we also offer educational resources on pet care. While we do review and approve every sitter’s profile before they can offer services through Rover, they operate as independent business owners managing their own small businesses. This means they manage their own rates, cancellation policies, and more. Next time you’re looking for a sitter that fits you and your pet's needs, feel free to give our Rover Support team a call at 888-453-7889 and we’d be happy to help.

Our dog sitter was horrendous
Our dog sitter was horrendous! She neglected our dogs; locked them in bedrooms to the point where they scratched up our doors. She didn’t take them out enough to the point where they urinated and defaecated multiple times in our house all the while communicating (only when we asked, wouldn’t give any updates unprompted) that everything was “fine.” We suspect that the walker was also double dipping and babysitting other dogs as well as ours and using our home as a base (the found dried dog feces in our basement, a place our dogs refuse to go, plus we saw other reviews on Rover from dog owners during the same time she was supposed to be exclusively taking care of ours). Our house still smells like urine and the only response Rover gave us was “you must be thorough in the choosing of your sitter.” Rover is the Uber of the dog business; they take your money but don’t actually have the sitters as employees, so when they’re petty background check and minor dog sitter resources fail and the sitter abuses and neglects your fur baby, they say “well you should have picked better, it’s not our fault (we interviewed the sitter in person prior, we invited her over to meet the dogs prior, we let her stay in our home that was left in a disastrous state with the smell of urine, damaged doors, dried fecal matter stains and poor cleaning as there were still blue dish soap stains from the Dawn she used, we did everything right and trusted Rover in its selection process, they FAILED) Our dogs were abused and Rover did not care (our dogs still seem skiddish around strangers now), our home was neglected and destroyed and Rover didn’t care. I suspect if our dogs had been injured or worse, Rover still would have given their “not our problem, wash-my-hands-of-it response cause no one actually works for Rover, and that to me (and I think most people) when it involves the lives of loved ones and loved creatures, is a disgusting response. Call a neighbor, a friend or even a local service over this company to watch your precious fur babies, otherwise you could end up like me: neglected dogs, violated home and broken in trust.

I left my dear baby girl with some mad…
I left my dear baby girl with some mad Australian woman from Rover. Who bathed my dog without my permission and used HUMAN shampoo and conditioner and blow dried her fur with a human hairdryer!! Then I noticed in the photo she sent that she had her tied to a chair so she couldn't move around the property of the mad Australian. My dog is a mini wire haired dachshund super loving and wonderful. Mad sitters on this website!
