I’ve been a sitter for Rover for the past 7 years last week I received a pittbull we did meet and greet not my first one and I’ve had pittbulls my self I’ve also own German shepherd’s corsos Pomeranian Chihuahuas Rottweilers wheaten doodles and many more breeds this dog Bella, the second day bit my friends, dog, a much smaller dog. This pitbull did not like smaller dogs the owner didn’t specify nor Rover I had to take my friends dog to the vet. The bill was $1700 thinking rover was gonna reimburse me. They said no because my friend dog didn’t belong to rover even though a rover dog bit my friends dog at my house Rover does not care about your dog. Very disappointed and frustrated and at the same time traumatize

Hi Irma. We sincerely apologize for the distress and financial burden this situation has caused you. While Rover, and the independent sitters who use our service, has the Rover Guarantee in place for dogs booked through the site, it does not extend for dogs staying with sitters by other means. This includes when sitters choose to dog-sit for friends, family, neighbors or using a service anywhere outside of the Rover platform. The Rover Guarantee does, in some cases, extend to a true third party (for example, a rover dog biting another dog at the park). A true third party must have no ties to the sitter or have knowingly entered an agreement for the interaction. We consider sitters to be independent small business owners, and it is understood by choosing to book under Rover and use it as a tool for their business, that the Rover Guarantee that Rover includes with each stay only covers the sitter's personal dogs and dogs booked through the website. While we understand that many sitters continue to dog sit independently or run successful small businesses outside of our platform, other dogs they choose to allow into their home or otherwise interact with are not reimbursable by the Rover Guarantee Rover provides and are their responsibility. While we understand your expectations for reimbursement, it's important to note that our policies do not cover incidents involving non-Rover dogs. This is because we have no direct relationship or responsibility for dogs that are not under our care. We take the safety and well-being of all dogs very seriously, and we have strict guidelines in place to ensure that our sitters are equipped to handle different breeds and temperaments. However, it's crucial for dog owners to provide accurate information about their pets' behavior and preferences during the meet-and-greet process. We genuinely regret that this unfortunate incident occurred, and we understand the emotional impact it has had on you. We will take your feedback into consideration as we continuously strive to improve our services and ensure the safety of all dogs in our care.
