First sitter backed out after taking my money(eventually got a refund). Took a chance on the second even after he showed up late for scheduled meeting. Then had to chase him down hours before I left to confirm he was still coming. The only way I can verify he ever checked on the dogs are the times I contacted him! Now getting in touch with a real human at the parent company Rover has been impossible!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Horrible American company that doesn't care about their pet sitters. Our long-time pet sitter just got shut down because she was honest with Rover. Some of the dogs she cares for get seasonal/ environmental illnesses, & she was honest with Rover & pet parents. Most of the dogs are seniors who are more susceptible to getting sick. If a dog was sick, she took it to the vet & paid for medication. Rover canceled her sitter account because of dogs having illnesses in her care. She cares immensely for animals! Value your employees!!!

Company lacks honesty, integrity and accountability. They not only did not apologize for all the behaviors and accusations made by the sitter but continued to escalate the situation in every way possible during the transfer of care and even following the stays. I have yet to even receive a response to any messages I sent complaining about the sitter. Then rover then had the audacity to randomly message me one day with recommendations that contradict my complaints and were unbecoming of the situation. My response to this was again left with no reply.

I returned home unexpectedly early and contacted Chelsea to let her know that I would be there to pick up my dog. It was 3 o’clock in the afternoon. It took a very long time for anyone to answer the door. When my dog greeted me, it was with a tiny little lick on the nose. this is a puppy. This is uncommon. When I carried my dog, he seemed rather limp. And then we got into the car. I would talk to him, but he had a daised look on his face. He layed on the seat and did not move. When we got home I had to carry him in the house because he was disoriented. Still not responding when I would talk to him. He curled up in his bed and slept for 4 hours at 3 in the afternoon. Without question he had been drugged.

We booked a sitter through Rover. Unfortunately, the sitter did not provide a safe space for our two 7 pound yorkies. She sent videos where it was obvious that she antagonized out dogs and agitated them until one of them nipped her. We were already out of town and had to reach out to friends in the area to retrieve the dogs and move them to a different sitter. This was super stressful given we were out of town for a family wedding. Upon return, we reached out to Rover. It took them over a month for Rover to resolve the issue and they provided us a refund of the service fees in the form of Rover credit. They also promised to provide a courtesy credit for the inconveniece. We were never informed that the credits would expire in a few months and tried to use the credits on a recent booking. After spending half the day speaking to different representatives, we were told that all the credits expired and were no longer available for use. I explained our initial situation and they refused to acknowledge the promises previously made and provide any resolution.

Contacted one sitter who was keen to look after my dog. I arranged that we could meet and the sitter was running late and couldn’t manage to meet that night. Arranged for several days later and no show again. Apparently sitter was ill but did not inform me. Contacted another sitter who, again, was keen. Made an arrangement to meet and awaited details of home address. Despite a reminder, no further contact received from the sitter. Over three weeks attempting to find a suitable sitter through this site and absolutely no further forward. May need to cancel holiday. Hugely disappointing and seems to be no ‘management’ by Rover apart from providing the App

We've had two bad experiences with Rover.com. We hired a lady to house sit for our dog for a week while we were on vacation. She ended up drinking heavily and abandoned our dog while we were gone. Our poor dog was wandering around, alone and we don't know the last time she ate. ROVER.COM REFUSED TO REMOVE HER FROM THEIR LIST. This time, a lady committed to stay for the week and canceled just days before our trip. She decided to go out of town and now there are no other sitters available. ROVER WILL NOT LET ME LEAVE AN HONEST REVIEW TO WARN OTHER PET OWNERS THAT THIS SITTER IS UNRELIABLE. We might have to cancel a trip that has been planned for eight months. ROVER.COM DOES NOT CARE.

1. The pet sitter I hired proved to be unreliable, failing to arrive at the agreed time and neglecting to administer medication to my elderly cat at the times instructed. This jeopardized my cats' well-being, prompting me to lodge a complaint with Rover's Trust and Safety department. To my dismay, they decided to retain the sitter on their platform despite my concerns. I have decided to discontinue using their services due to the subpar standard of care they find acceptable. I would urge others not to use their services.
