Outrageously Expensive Rover Fees
We have used Rover several times with 4 different sitters: 1 house sitter for 3 occasions, 2 sitters for drop in visits, and 1 boarding in the sitters home. Three of the sitters were fabulous! Took great care of our 3 dogs, sent regular updates and pictures, and the dogs were healthy and happy when we arrived home. On the 3rd house sitting service, The house sitter, Theo, left our home filthy and left dirty dishes everywhere (even in bedrooms), the house had a terrible body odor stench, and the bathroom was a disaster and biohazard. They tried to say that is how they found the house, which is absolutely untrue as our home is spotlessly clean and our housekeeper had even visited that day. Needless to say, we did not use Theo ever again. Rover is getting a 1 star review because of their exorbitant change penalty ($147) and them also charging another $50 Rover fee even though I had already paid that fee for my most recent booking. I had been in constant communication with the sitter that this change may need to occur and she was completely fine with it. I will not use Rover ever again nor can I recommend their services because of their outrageous fees and poorly vetted in house sitter, Theo.
