Booked a dog sitter who appeared really nice, good reviews, none negative, and contacted me the same evening as the booking to confirm. Was going to meet dogs prior to staying with him, and dogs were going for two nights. Sitter then cancelled. These things happen. However Rovers policy means seven days later I still have yet to receive a refund of the £120.00 and no further communication. The site is not helpful for getting in contact with the company. Rover holds the money paid until after the service has been completed, so what’s the hold up on refunds so you can book another service elsewhere. Also I cannot leave a review for the sitter about the cancellation, which is in other comments on Trustpilot, as a user of this service you wouldn’t know if sitters did this regularly. In summation, it maybe better to book direct with a small business and cut out this intermediary. Honest review based on my first experience.

Rover calculation error
Rover charged rate based on transaction request date, not booked date nor service date, causing my dog to be given a puppy date since I requested a service 3 months in advance. This is a flaw, and rover informed me the only way to resolve was to ask the sitter for money back- rather than a credit from Rover. That seemed unfair to the sitter when they expected to receive a certain amount. I would have expected more from Rover since this is their logic error.

Getting Ghosted w/ No Consequences
I have had multiple sitters and dog walkers on Rover completely ghost us and/or not show up to the already booked appointment. Upon telling Rover customer support this, I did get my money back. However, I was unable to leave any type of review for the sitters and dog walkers because “the service ended up getting cancelled.” These Rover employees had zero consequences, and it is extremely misleading to other customers seeing only positive reviews on people they’re looking to hire. I don’t trust them at all and will not be using Rover again.

Used a sitter who gave my dog a bladder…
Used a sitter who gave my dog a bladder infection causing thousands in damages to my pet and property. The sitter started an electrical fire in one of my appliances and Rover has done nothing about it.

Scorrettezza e delusione

Bad experience
Bad experience. Got my puppy back 2 days late, because the sitter claimed she had to go out of town and wouldn’t be home. She said her daughter’s uncle would be there at the original return time. He was not there. She told me I could walk in her house and get my dog (as she lived in the country and the door would be unlocked). I told her I would not go into her home, as I did not feel comfortable. My dog was left alone for almost 2 days before she returned home, not fed or let out the cage. The sitter stopped responding at some point. I called Rover the next day to let them know what was going on, they said they would contact the sitter. Rover charged me for an extra day and wouldn’t give me a partial refund or anything. I almost had to get the police involved to get my dog back. My puppy was returned smelling horrible and his cage still had poop and pee in it.

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED
It really saddens me to have to make this review, being that I've been a Rover user for over 5 years. I have always recommended and referred other fur parents to utilize this platform. I decided to use Rover to find someone to board both of my pets for a vacation. The weekend of January 10th, to be specific. I found a profile, and her name is Renee. She was super kind and understanding that I was nervous to board my animals with her because they usually go with family when I travel for more than 2 days. I have a male senior dog who's going blind and deaf and a female dog who is barely 1 year old. I noticed that my female dog was still in heat. she had been in heat for at least two weeks. She was scheduled to be spayed the following week. I informed Renee that she was in heat and if it was OK or if I should board her elsewhere. She first informed me that she didn't have any other dogs on the schedule to come to her home, but she would keep her separated anyway. After I picked my dogs up, an hour or so went by, and she informed me that my female dog had diarrhea. My friend, who had also boarded her two female dogs with Renee, also had diarrhea. Renee finally admitted that she fed them all unauthorized treats. (treats that we don't give our dogs). My dogs had diarrhea for two weeks, almost three after leaving Renee house. I had to cancel her spay appointment. Two more weeks had passed, and I began to notice my female dog stomach area started getting larger. At first, I was in denial. I took her to the groomers, and they confirmed that my dog was, in fact, pregnant. I was in shock and really sad for my dog. At this moment, writing this, my dog has been crying, suffering, and uncomfortable. This, too, has taken a toll on me emotionally because I was not prepared financially or mentally for this. It's been sleepless nights because she is uncomfortable and unable to sleep. When I confronted Renee, at first, she was apologetic and surprised. She first stated that all dogs on her premises were fixed. Next, she stated that they were too big to mount her, and then finally, she said there was another small male dog present (a miniature pinscher). She also admitted negligence on her part when she stated that her grandmother may have let the dogs out for her at a point of time. I was super shocked to hear that because I boarded my dogs with her and not her grandmother. She is the one that was listed on Rover and who i expected to be caring for my pets. She never said anything after that. I reached out to Rover, and they informed me that they couldn't do anything for me. They could possibly do something for the diarrhea, but that was it. I was even more disappointed that Rover was not helpful. I submitted the claim and have not heard anything from any representatives. At this point, Renee's profile is still active. I have not received a refund or anything. It's unfortunate because I will incur way more than what I paid for the boarding of my pets. The only other solution I can forsee is reporting this to corporate because this is super unprofessional of Rover and Renee
