No matter how many dog walkers you reach out to, nobody is available to walk your dogs for you. The canned response is " I'm sorry but I cannot help you at this time" I got the same response from 19 dog walkers despite the fact that their booking calendars showed the time I requested was available in their booking calendars

Hi Ken, thank you so much for sharing your review with us. We're sorry to hear that the sitters you've reached out to have been unavailable. I had 15 great reviews and then I got a collie who took off twice. They ended my account. I’ve dog sat for 7 years and get taken off rover for the undisciplined dog. Just learned to never take care of one again. Took care of one before on medicine because of anxiety problems.

Let down, disappointed
I sent requests to five sitters, four said they were unavailable (almost all because they were watching other pets) but they had not updated their diaries.
I met with the fourth sitter to do an introduction with the dog a day before they're due to stay over and one hour afterwards the request was cancelled.
I've had to cancel my trip.
I called Rover and received an offer of a voucher but why would I realistically ever use this service again? I'm shocked that they felt that was a good enough offer of a resolution.
I've asked a manager to call back but we're almost at 24 hours and have had no response.
Please do not book with Rover, there is no support if like with me, the sitter decides last minute to change their mind.
Disgusting.

Poor customer support
I've been a Rover sitter for almost five years, and it has mostly been a happy experience. I've met lovely dogs and the wonderful people who entrust me with their care. I just had an experience that has ruptured my trust in the company and left me feeling disrespected, gaslit, and unvalued as someone who has brought a lot of revenue their way through attentive, detailed, and impassioned care for pets. Yesterday, a regular client of mine reached out to me to see if I could take her pet for doggy daycare today, so at very short notice. I thought this would be possible and wanted to help, so I created a booking, but I then determined that I had made a commitment to help my wife with her business. In not even the space of an hour, I got back in touch with my client and apologised, letting her know I would I have to cancel the booking. She had let me know that if I couldn't do it, she would be fine any way in the first instance. A late cancellation note was then placed above all my five star reviews. I contacted Rover to explain the situation and ask for the note to be removed given the circumstances. I was in touch with Jerome via the app and email, then with Jennika over the phone, and finally Angel via email. The responses from Jerome were heavily scripted, and when I spoke to Jennika I got more of the same. There was no understanding displayed and zero flexibility given based on the circumstances. I asked to speak to a manager and was told an investigation was in progress and someone would call. Angel, from the leadership team, never called but sent me a curt email explaining that the note wouldn't be removed and the decision was final (in boldface to enhance the alienating effect). I was told I could respond to the note, but to me this is like someone painting an "X" on your door and then you standing outside explaining that it's really not a bad "X" and won't you have a cup of tea and come inside. The damage is done by the insinuation that I am unreliable and prone to cancel close to a booking happening. There is a big difference between someone booking months, weeks, or days in advance, and a regular client contacting you the day before to see if you might be able to look after their dog, but no worries if not! But Rover has no room for nuance or distinction in these matters apparently. They say it's about transparency, but if it were, would pet parents not be accountable in this way too? I have waived cancellation fees many times for regular clients out of understanding and flexibility. They have no notes against their name for cancelling with no notice. Rover claims that its sitters are the cornerstone of its service, yet this now looks to me to be a very wonky building where all the weight ends up on the sitters by design, and the labour, expertise, and sensitivity that they necessarily embody is met with customer support that comes across more as AI hallucination than genuine care. Rover relies on humans to provide fantastic experiences for the pets of other humans, but their own customer support has proven to be faceless, algorithmic, and cold.

People in Rover’s back office will violate their companies policies if they see fit
I have been a Rover sitter for over 5 years and have had nothing but great things to say, until recently. Despite ample attempts to have a slanderous defamatory inaccurate dishonest review taken down. Some people in the back office, Erica, of Rover have turned a blind eye to evidence of the contrary of this review and have refused to follow their company’s policy in regards to dishonest reviews that are not an accurate reflection of the owner’s/sitter’s experience. Claiming this review is helpful in its delusion. This was a set up as clearly shown from the conversational evidence compared to the review that was left and unfortunately, Rover’s back office has refused to support me. The review is no more accurate than me saying that the sky is brown, and the grass is blue. I didn’t respond to the review because I didn’t know what to say so I reached out to Rover and by the time they came to their final decision of keeping the clearly dishonest review, my time window had passed and I wasn’t allowed to leave one. I don’t think Erica or her colleagues in the back office speak for Rover as they are going against their own companies policies. I think they’re just bad apples that I unfortunately got stuck with. I have five star reviews because I make a conscious effort to communicate with my clients and validate their needs, listen to and respect any concerns that they may have, and give their pups the same love and respect they do at home or better if I can. I am disappointed in this experience because the back office just willy-nilly decided to mess with my business. 🤦♀️❤️🐶
UPDATE: Please allow Elizabeth’s innocently ignorant response to be a reflection of Rover’s carelessness and lack of accountability towards its sitters, employees, and policies. The overwhelming evidence in contrary to the review, with its ad hominem attacks, should have been enough to take it down. Again, unfortunately Rover’s back office team had another agenda outside of their companies policies.

All the best, Elizabeth B.

I will not do business with an American company for a local, canadian service in view of the american turmoil. I received no constructive feedback from Anna as to Fluffy's stay. How did he get along with other dogs? What was his daily routine? How did he react to others in the household? Etc, etc.
