Proceed cautiously
Pet owners considering Rover should be aware and ask tough questions before booking. Years ago, one sitter failed to show up for nine hours, forcing me to end a vacation early. I adopted a new dog recently and decided to give Rover another chance, thinking it might be a one-off. But another sitter, met in his lobby for a meet-and-greet where he said he was watching another dog and couldn’t show me his unit, refused to show his space on the booking day because his wife was working, acting defensively when I insisted. I couldn’t leave my dog with him. Rover apologized, mentioning background checks, but their vetting is unclear—how do they ensure professionalism? Their vague responses left me wanting answers. Don’t rely 100% on reviews; a sitter might seem fine but fail to communicate, so do your due diligence. I expected better from Rover. Proceed cautiously. —————— Rover’s reply here felt standard, urging me to reach out again. I’ve contacted support repeatedly, but they offer no real solutions or clear answers, which adds to my frustration.
