I have to review on here to share some major concerns I have for a sitter based in Normandy, Guildford, Surrey (Amanda G) as Rover will not take the issue seriously. If you are looking for a sitter DO NOT take your dogs to this person as your dogs will be shut outside barking all hours of the day and left unsupervised for hours whilst the sitter is out. I have evidence of this. Multiple people have now complained to the council and the situation is currently being investigated. There may be stockpiled photos of the sitter appearing like she walks them each day but I would urge anyone engaging with her services to investigate the exact timestamp of the photos as it seems the dogs aren't walked regularly instead, they're left in the garden, usually shut out.

Not responsive to client concerns

Becoming more expensive and unreliable! I’ve used Rover for a while, but it’s becoming more and more expensive, and it feels like prices keep going up without much improvement in service. On top of that, I’ve had multiple sitters drop me at the last minute, leaving me scrambling to find a replacement. It’s really frustrating to feel like you can’t rely on a service you’re paying a premium for, especially when you need consistent care for your pets. I hope Rover does something to improve reliability because right now, it’s just not as dependable as it used to be.

I had a negative experience with a dog sitter and the dog sitter has other negative reviews. I feel Rover should screen out the poor dog sitters so others do not have sitters that neglect their pets. I thought Rover was a reliable app to find reliable dog sitters. I now find that Rover does not screen their reviews or sitters.

I have been over charged, charged for services my dog walker did not provide. I sent an inquiry was asked to confirm dates which I did and no one has responded to me. I paid like 580 for 6 walks when I was supposed to be charged 20 per walk. There is no one to call, no one to get help from and the person who originally emailed me is not responding, nor is the dog walker herslef. I feel ripped off.

There is no vetting of boarding services for cleanliness. I was hoping that boarding at sitters home would have some standards but there is no minimum standard. The assumption that a higher fee, sitters bio/experience would give better, cleaner services is incorrect to assume. Even a pre-meet and greet is not going to give you this information. I no longer see this option as preferable to boarding at a boarding company. After several bookings, I will avoid using this service again.

Giving one star - they deserve zero We had a deeply disappointing experience using Rover UK. We found a sitter on the platform who initially seemed like a good match. She claimed to be experienced, and we had a meet-and-greet that went smoothly. However, once we dropped off our dog for a short stay in June, things went downhill fast. If you are looking for a sitter in Hampstead, London, please look around for all reviews!! Within 10 minutes of leaving, the sitter messaged saying our dog was unsettled and crying. She seemed anxious and more worried about her neighbours than the dog’s well-being. Despite claiming to be a seasoned sitter, she didn’t seem to have the confidence or skills to handle a dog who just needed a little time to adjust. A short while later, she messaged again saying he was still whining occasionally and wanted reassurance he wouldn’t disturb the neighbours — and even hinted at wanting to leave the house. At that point, we no longer felt confident leaving our dog in her care. We picked him up early, and he was completely calm when we arrived. The sitter insisted “he was before,” but showed little warmth or engagement with our pet. She blamed the situation on the dog, rather than acknowledging her own inability to handle it. As a result, we had to cancel our holiday, including non-refundable flights, because we couldn’t secure another sitter in time. To make matters worse, when we raised the issue with Rover support, they responded initially but then stopped replying altogether. We’re still awaiting a proper resolution or follow-up. This experience has seriously damaged our trust in the Rover platform. We expected better screening of sitters and more accountability in customer support. Be cautious if you plan to rely on Rover for important travel plans.

The sitter I had for my dog and my baby kitten didn't feed my dog for the entire day and fed my baby kitten dog food. My dog came home and she was distant and acting unlike herself. I provided everything he needed to properly care for my animals. Everything was unopened except for 1 pouch of Caesars shredded chicken and when I picked my animals up he stated I fed the cat some chicken and I was confused until I got home and checked. When I realized I confronted him and he made excuse after excuse and said he didn't know who ate what that he just laid it out and thought they would know what food they were supposed to eat. My kitten is 3 months old! He will eat anything! He is a kitten! I also specifically said my kitten cannot be left alone which is why I hired the sitter for a day. He put them in a room unsupervised! I will NEVER trust this app or anyone to take care of my animals again. My kitten had diarrhea for 24 hours after I got him home. I trusted this app to find a safe place for my pets and I got anything but a safe place. Never again!!
