Roost & RootReviews of roostandroot.com

This is my second coop that I have gotten from them. The quality and customer service is outstanding.

This coop is so well designed. The A-frame structure causes the sun to sweep and disinfect the floor each day. When it was over 110 degrees and the shaded door handle was hot to the touch, inside the coop it’s as cool and breezy as sitting under your favorite shade tree. (That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take extra precautions for the girls in the heat.) The waterer and feeders are excellent and allow me to leave for one or two nights without worry. Whereas cleaning my coop used to be a stinky hour-long chore, cleaning the coop each week takes me no more than 10 minutes. And there’s no smell. I use about two cups of PDZ stall freshener a week, but I’m amazed at how fresh and clean this coop keeps itself. My chickens are so happy. Everyone gets along, takes dust baths together and shares the same two (corner) nest boxes. We couldn’t be any happier. I installed the “best” predator protection (CMUs below and at grade), which in our hard, dry and rocky Napa soils took a jackhammer; but it is incredibly secure. Installing the coop in a sloped part of the yard was a bit challenging; but that’s on me. Roost and Root did a great job. While it took longer than I’d have hoped, it was worth the wait.

We get our chicken feed here and our chickens love it. They are fat, sassy, and healthy on H and H Feed. The service is always prompt, and delivery timely. Anytime I have had an issue, I get a response within 24 hours and everything is resolved. I wouldn’t buy my feed anywhere else.

We truly can’t give a more positive review about Roost and Root. First time chicken owners, living in LI/NY and the staff was fantastic with providing their insight to prepare us for our flock of 12! We have the Round-Top Backyard with 2 extensions/ 2 sets of waterers/feeders. In addition we purchased the winterized package that includes the panels and freeze proof waterer nipples, and let us just say WOW! The coops craftsmanship is outstanding, and who doesn’t love the smell of cedar wood. The kit arrived as promised for the ETA of delivery. Instructions are very easy to follow along with color coordinated supplies to match with the instructions. Definitely takes two people, and prepare for 3 hrs of assembly. It went smoothly during this process. This arrived in the dead of the summer heat so the “tin” rooftop kept our flock cool! As the cooler temps are approaching we’re already prepared with our panels to keep the snow/ice/brisk winds out of this area as well. The waterers are PVC and we will be placing a heater inside to keep it from freezing. Filling the waterers and feeders are a breeze if using pellets food. Crumbled food can clump up inside once humidity rises, something to consider. They adapted well from their cups to the nipples now. Just takes one in the flock to show the rest what to do. Let’s talk cleaning! Well as I’m sure most chicken owners will relate these feathered friends poop A LOT! However the ventilation system is just perfect to dry out their droppings making it super easy to use a BBQ bristled brush to scrap the galvanized screened bottoms clean. Their drooping’s land into the dirt below and it’s just a few latches to detach our extensions (which are light in weight) to rake it all out and toss. We do this weekly for the health of our flock. And lastly, but most importantly the safety features are the best as we want to ensure our babies are safe from predators. The latches are great and keeps the doors highly secured from pests. We have a Corgi that had tested the outter galvanized screening and holds up from her jumping about. We placed 12x12 pavers around the entire outside perimeter of the coop to keep predators from digging under. We added some cute decor to our coop to give it some cute personality and appeal. We certainly are happy to see our flock loving their new home for years to come. However we’re going to be a lifetime client for any future needs with this company.

This was a really great experience. Customer service was very personal and helpful when I was ordering and had a question - not outsourced (the rep had many chickens of her own!). The coop arrived in three boxes with clear, concise markings and EXCELLENT directions. I am neither a farmer nor a builder and was able to follow them without difficulty, although slowly. My only uncertainty was about whether I could change the orientation of the coop on top of the run and that turned out fine. Our town (in NJ) has a strict chicken ordinance (who knew?) and we got a visit from a health inspector a couple of months after the chicks arrived. In a pandemic, hysterical. Turns out, the coop is perfectly compliant with the ordinance and got high marks for solidity and keeping out pests like squirrels, mice and racoons. Apparently, lots of other coop options are flimsy (can get chewed through), don't do well in rain or after cleaning, and/or are too small to be humane. We chose a Roost & Root coop because another family in town has had one for years. They moved here from CA with the coop and it's still solid and providing a good home for their chickens. I recommend R&R highly.

Package arrived on time and it was easy to assembly took me and my son 4 hours. Our chickens love their house it is so convinient to have some storage within the coop and it is super easy to feed them. Thank you

We absolutely love our coop. It took my dad and me about a day to completely build. The directions were easy to follow, and it turned out perfect. Our 4 hens live in luxury, and we think it’s beautiful. The wood is at the highest quality, and we know we will have this coop for a long time. When we have to buy another coop down the road (most likely not for a long time), we will come back to Roost and Root. Thank you so much!

We got our order several days ahead of what they suggested which was a very nice surprise! The order was complete and neatly organized. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for quality backyard chicken coops and supplies.
