It's all what you make of it.
I met one of my best friends ever, and also met my girlfriend (who is wonderful) from going on Remote Year. I also learned a ton of new skills, and actually got a bunch of work done. Before that I was a digital nomad, but I lacked structure so I barely worked and just partied a lot.
Remote Year was a great change of pace from that lifestyle, blending my partying ways with actually working. Highly recommend.

Thanks Sean! Congrats on meeting your girlfriend on Remote Year, we've had quite a few relationships and even weddings come out of a Remote Year community which is fantastic. Really appreciate the kind words and hope to see you on the road again soon!

Never want it to end!
I spent 3 years trying to make Remote Year happen, before the stars finally aligned and I was able to leave on my year long program. Remote Year is exactly what I expected it to be - and I never want it to end! Remote Year has made so many changes over the years that have improved the platform and the experience, and overall I think the experience now is the best it's ever been. I'd make this decision again and again if given the choice!

So glad to hear that Lindsey! We know it's hard sometimes to get those stars to align but when they do it really can be something beautiful. All the best and hope to see you on the road soon.

The best decision I've ever made
Remote Year was hands down the best year of my life! I am extremely grateful for the friendships I developed and the life changing experiences I had as a result of the program. I'm happy to be a member of this community, and continue to benefit from it through the extensive alumni programming that Remote Year offers.
I would highly recommend Remote Year to anyone that's ready for the best year of their life :-)

Thanks Chelsea. So great to hear that not only was your year awesome but that you're making the most of Citizenship (alumni program). Remote Year is way more than just the year so happy to see that's been the case for you!

RY exceeded every expectation
If I could give Remote Year ten stars out of five, I wouldn't think twice about doing so: it is honestly that great.
When I left for my year-long program, I was excited about all of the incredible places that I would get to experience. Living in places like Thailand, Morocco, Croatia, and Colombia for a month each seemed like a dream, and I saw Remote Year as the vessel that would allow me to do so. However, I was about to be completely blown away by how much Remote Year would go above and beyond in every way: catalyzing relationships with fellow travelers, planning once in a lifetime cultural immersion experiences, and flawlessly executing on logistics. It is so much more than a work and travel program, and I can honestly say that it was the absolute best year of my life. I cannot possibly recommend Remote Year any higher.

Remote Year is the best decision I've ever made
Remote Year is one of the best decisions I've made and here's why.
1. $2,000/month is not too expensive if you consider the convenience and the community side of the benefit
- Yes, for some people $2,000 a month is a lot of money and you can definitely do it cheaper. However, there are a lot of things that you're not counting for, like countless support hours you get from the RY staff, all the connections you make along the way with the community and having somewhere to ask any questions you may have about ANY country, because most of the times, someone from the community has been there. You can't really quantify those benefits and they should definitely not be considered free.
2. They make you grow, if you're open for it
- I see a lot of bad reviews here and I have met some of them in person. From my experience, they have certain expectation of the program or certain world view that they do not wish to change or accept any other views. If you have negative attitude, you can't expect to have a good time or good experience. Yes, you're traveling the world, yes you're with 50 people. You cannot possibly expect everything to go 100% perfect and all of them to be your best friend. It's our nature to find ourselves closer to people we get along with better, if you're just complaining, no one will want to grow with you.
When I joined RY, I was a conservative person with different perspective from most of RY participants who are more on liberal side, but I joined telling myself no matter what happen, I will stay open minded and hear people's story, and by the end of the program I was happy that I decided to do so -- I got to meet and become friends with people that I would've never thought that I would become friends with when I was back in Texas.
3. It's a lot of fun!!!
- Come on, I traveled with more than 40 people who all love travel and trying new things. We jumped off the boats in Santorini together, hiked Machu Picchu together, and even ride horses through the vineyards in Argentina together. This is something people dream of in their life, and you get to do it within a year. I gained loads of friends who I will connect with for rest of my life (4 of them getting married this year) and I still tell the stories from my year.
Lastly, I just want to tell RY team that they are doing great. Sam and Greg started something beautiful that gets people together and really promote the future of work, keep it up!!

Remotely interested? Do it NOW!
I am just finishing up month 4 in Asia. Hanoi, Chiang Mai, Kyoto and Kuala Lumpur have pushed me out of my comfort zone and into new territories. In my early sixties, I didn't think I would be having a mud bath with elephants, riding a cable car over rice paddies, and zip lining through a canyon. But then why not? Every day I am more active and happier and I have been re-thinking work. Life in a cubicle won't cut it for me now!

When leaving your comfortzone becomes the best decision in your life!
When I saw the RY ad the first time at Facebook I was sure that this model works for a lot of people but not for me. But somehow the thought of living the life of a digital nomad never let me go and so I applied first at RY and after their positive answer I started the negotiation with my company (8months long fight). To support me, as I am from Germany, was kind of a challenge for my admission consultant as processes, guidelines and the whole way of accepting a digital nomad was impressively different from the American approach. However, he was always their with smart advises whom to contact and motivating me to not give up. When I finally received the approval from my company I could not believe that I will truly live my dream. The whole on-boarding at RY was full of love and support and even before the program kicked off I was already 100% convinced that this was the best decision in my entire life - and so were my friends and family. Thanks to communities and collaboration platforms I met with one of my future remotee at the airport and we overcame our layover together. (By the way 4 months in, he is still one of my best friends ;) ) When we arrived we were welcomed with open arms and lovely greetings. Everything was seamlessly organized and we could all together celebrate the New Year - our New Year on the 31st of December in Buenos Aires.
Till then the organization, passion and the overall commitment of our Program Leads, Local Teams as well as the Travel Team has not become less. If there is help needed you will always find support in a reasonable time.
The only thing to be mentioned is that RY is not a program with exclusively full-time / part-time participants. In our program we do have a bunch of people not having a job and living based on their savings, what sometimes leads to frustration by full-time workers.
So if you are eager to travel with approx. 50 interesting, inspiring and motivating people from all over the world, while exploring the hidden corners of the planet - RY IT IS!
