Remote Year was an indescribable experience.
I never thought you could work and travel the world at the same time. What t RY gave me a few years ago is something I’ll never forget. They are a very well organized company that takes care of all: housing, coworking, flights activities and interesting tracks. I really enjoyed living a year of my life traveling the world with international friends, despite I was the only Mexican (latinan) in the group, SONDER’S made me fill always welcomed. If you have the chance to travel with RY don’t doubt about it, you will never regret about this experience and specially about how well organized they are!

100% recommend Remote Year
100% recommend Remote Year. I was the yoga facilitator hired by the facility for a RY retreat in Costa Rica in March 2021. I got to see both sides of one of their programs from behind the scenes coordination, to customer facing activities, to witnessing their respectful, hardworking yet playful teamwork. They were a pleasure to work with and support during this retreat. They truly care about their customers as family and try to ensure every detail is cared for. I had the experience to be with many of the RY staff as this was their first one week retreat and first program since covid. All of them are wonderful people putting their all into creating meaningful experiences.

Highly recommend
Remote Year is more than a trip- it’s experiencing new countries, learning about other cultures and connecting with other travelers. I’ve done a monthlong trip and a retreat. Loved both experiences. Remote Year does all the work and sets up great accommodations, food and quality experiences.

It's All In the Community
I joined their week-long retreat without knowing much about Remote Year and coming out the other end completely different. The retreat, accommodations, culture, and most important the people is what makes the experience worth it.
The retreat workshops push you to look inward and connect with yourself, while balancing the activities that helps you build connections and relationships with others. You will surprise yourself the depth of connections you can make with the RY community even in a week's time.
Without a doubt, Remote Year offers something priceless.

A Priceless Community
Let me share with you the reality of Remote Year – this is not a glamorous remote year program; it is a program that pushes you to explore the edges of what you know and what is familiar. It shines a light on your truest self while providing you with once in a lifetime, unforgettable experiences to live, love, learn, and work. RY is the concurrence of life and work –the Remote Year environment supports you in your career growth with stimulating and exciting cultural activities that guide new ways of thinking and understanding, teachings led by fellow remotes and local teams, and building of interpersonal – global – relationships that encourage broader application of work and life.
The accommodations are anything but ordinary. They give you a taste of what it is like to live in each location, what typical apartments and housing looks and feels like for each city, and wonderfully capture the beauty of each place. Imagine listening to the wind carry soft saxophone melodies while sitting on a Lisbon apartment rooftop at sunset or picking fresh mango from trees lining a RY retreat property in Costa Rica.
It takes a leap of faith to pick up, pack up, and create a life traveling around the world, but there is no company I would trust more than RY to facilitate everything I could possibly imagine I need with ease and unwavering support. I am grateful for the establishment and growth of this company, which has allowed me to curate a life of curiosity and adventure.
Every RY staff member is congenial, knowledgeable about the cities and travel, and indisputably amazing people and friends. The have a genuine interest in each RY member and will stop at nothing to make sure everyone is included, safe, successful, and contented in their experience with RY.
Without any question, RY is worth the cost. It is a life changing experience that continues to give back. The global network and friendships gained through RY are priceless.

Remote Year: People Over Places
I've been staring at this review box for the last few minutes trying to come up with the words to sum up my experience with Remote Year. It's impossibly difficult to explain how much I walked away with, how much I gained, even with my program being interrupted by Covid-19. If you're on this site trying to decide if this experience is worth it, it is. Do it!
Obviously RY is not a perfect company, I can guarantee you'll have months where you don't particularly like your housing, your roommate or the city you're living in BUT that's part of the experience and some of my favorite stories to retell are the ones where things didn't seem to be going my way in the moment.
I think it's also important to remember what RY as a company is responsible for and what we as members are responsible for. RY exists because the founders wanted to encourage people to travel in community. Most participants cite the community as the reason they signed up for RY. And it's important to keep in mind that although RY creates the community initially, it is up to the individual members of that community to encourage, support and advocate for one another.
The travel is amazing and it will change your life, but the community is the thing that will challenge and grow you the most. Lean in to that process, limit your expectations and open yourself up to all that a year of rigorous travel, deep friendship and constant change can do for you!
