I am about to begin the 7th month of a 12 month program. We are half way there. The experience was everything I expected and more. The program leaders are well suited for their roles, along with each cities’ support team make this the trip of my lifetime. It is a great value for the cost!

I found out about this platform from my sister that invited to go with her and it was amazing to show up and all planned options to choose from! I’m looking forward to doing more trips!

I knew of Remote Year for about 7 years before I finally had the real opportunity to use them in November 2021 to go to Lisbon, Portugal. I fully recommend Remote Year as an international remote work/travel programme to make working abroad as easy as possible. It is absolutely possible to do remote work/travel on your own but if you want to leave the heavy lifting to someone else so you can hop a flight and enjoy your experience then Remote Year is likely for you. I haven't done other remote work/travel programmes but I found RY to be a good balance between finding community but also finding yourself. You aren't living in communal spaces - you can opt to pay extra for a solo apartment. Events are available but you don't have to join. You can choose to participate as much or as little as you like. I like the array of side trips and events that they offer, all through a single site making event planning easy. In terms of value, I was happy to pay the premium to have someone else do the research, book accommodations, plan events, provide support and more. As mentioned - you could do all this on your own. I opted for their one-month programme and have already signed up for two other one-month programmes. They're really flexible and easy to join. One of my biggest concerns going into RY, especially in 2021, was safety as a single Asian female. I wanted to ensure that both the country and the programme were diverse, open-minded, safe, and COVID-aware. RY does make an effort to note and promote their prioritization of diversity and cultural awareness and do what they can to ensure all participants abide by their policies. COVID scares did happen, as one can and should expect with international travel during a pandemic but RY handled professionally. One of the highlights of my experience with RY was with our program leader and city manager - they really do what they can to ensure you have a positive experience. It wouldn't have been the same month without them. EDIT: One other highlight - the social network of Remote Year is invaluable. From my month experience, I met a friend who eventually joined my team at my company. From social network to professional network - Remote Year at its best.

I did a one-month trip to Cape Town South Africa. The local support staff was super friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. Two of us in our group had birthdays and the group treated us to dinner with a birthday cake. It was great to have others to go on excursions with, but there is no pressure to be part of the group, one is free to explore on one's own, so you have the best of both worlds. The apartment in Cape Town was world-class with excellent amenities and in a great location.

My month in Cape Town far exceeded my expectations. Awesome community of people, activities to do with them, and environment to live, work, and play in.

I enjoyed the positive impact that I attended with Florencia and the team out there. Would do it again!

Loved, loved, loved my month in Lisbon. I've been traveling alone for 7+ months and enjoyed every second of it. Until, I tried my first RY program in Lisbon this past month. I felt like such an idiot for not doing it sooner. For me, it was the perfect combination of solo and partner travel. You are able to completely do your own thing if you choose, but your community is always doing something fun if you're looking for inspiration or company. It was such a diverse group of travelers in every way. I learned so much & am aching for my next RY trip (which my group is already trying to coordinate together)
