Went on the first retreat in Costa Rica and it legit changed my life. After that, I decided to pack up my apartment and put everything in storage so that I’m free to travel as much as I please! Did a second retreat in Lake Atitlan and it was just as awesome as the first. (The retreat leader Elena is the BEST!) Planning on doing two more retreats this year and a month long program. I guess you could say I’m obsessed?

Lake Atitlan Retreat
A few months ago I was in need of a break when I got an email about Remote Year’s retreats. I traveled with Remote Year as part of a 4 month program in 2019 so I knew it would be well organized and well planned. With little hesitation I booked the retreat. As expected, accommodations were lovely, transportation was well organized and the itinerary was well thought out. Elena, who led the retreat is a rock star. There were some activities that didn’t float my boat, but absolutely no expectation or pressure to attend them. The cultural events (cacao ceremony, Mayan fire ceremony and sweat lodge) were highlights. If you’re a fan of retests, I would absolutely recommend Remote Year.

Life changing experience
I've gone on two 4-month trips with Remote Year and both were some of the best experiences of my life. Remote Year takes all of the hassles out of working while traveling and organizes unique activities in each location. Their programs also foster an incredible family-like community where you'll form life-long connections.

Great experience from start to finish
Great experience from start to finish! Everything was well organized and executed. I love that I was able to enjoy a new country while feeling safe. Our host, Elena, was amazing! She was welcoming, organized, fun, and accommodating.

Forever grateful!
Wow-what a month! I am so grateful and feel so relaxed following my one-month trip to CDMX. Not only was the RY staff amazing (Cata, Omar, Paco - we love you!), but the other RYers were truly remarkable people. Sharing this experience with others who are so curious, optimistic, and adventurous was truly a gift. The range of RYers backgrounds was surprisingly diverse, creating a wonderful melting pot of personalities. The activities were fantastically curated and expertly executed, and the accommodations were comfortable. I won't forget the friendships I've made, and I can't wait for my next RY trip.

A true 5 stars!
A true 5 stars!! The Remote Year staff far exceeded my expectations; they took care of all of the details for this trip with intention and love. What stood out to me the most was their ability to make sure each individual on this trip felt included, and had a great experience that felt authentic to them. Highly recommended this one month stay in Mexico City, I promise you'll leave feeling changed in some way- for the better.

I’m a new me.
Lush hot springs, mouth watering mole, salsa dancing in a packed restaurant, the list goes on. My one month experience in Mexico City more than scratched the itch I had to travel throughout the pandemic. What I discovered is that I’m capable of living any where and connecting with any human being at any time.

Life Changing Trip - Live a Year in One Month!
I had the wonderful opportunity to go with RY to CDMX, the largest city on the continent. I will be honest, when I chose to go to Mexico City, I came with a whole slew of biases and challenges to the idea of what Mexico had to offer. I have traveled and lived in 24 different countries, but have never explored the one just south of where I grew up. I am happy to announce to the planet how wrong and off those ideas of Mexico were. I have now fallen in love with the country, its people and the way of life that Mexico and CDMX have to offer. All of that is specifically thanks to RY and their amazing team on the ground: Omar and Paco (City Leaders), Catalina (Community Leader) and Rodolfo (The Merida side-trip Leader). These four individuals have changed my life in ways I doubt they will ever know, they have shifted my perspective on LATEM and on the beauty that exists there.
During our month, we had the opportunity to see so many different lifestyles within the city. RY had us in a more hipster, cool, international part of the 30 million person city, but they were open to make sure we were able to experience other parts of the city and country as well. We went to some of the most awesome roof-top bars and restaurants, got to volunteer at a dog shelter and LGBTQ shelter, went to the worlds most amazing Cabaret show ever, got to go to Tolantongo hot springs, Hot air balloon over ancient pyramids, take spiritual retreats in Magic towns where we got to experience the true El Dorado (temazcal), and have the best supports as we worked our day jobs and found fun ways to explore the city after we were done. The teams on the ground knew all the best spots, organized opportunities for our group to get to know one another and made the challenges of dealing with living in a foreign country easier than dealing with them at home. All in all I could not be more impressed with this organization and the community that they have fostered. My biggest regret is that my life is not currently designed to continue traveling with them and I would pay a subscription just to stay connected with this amazing community. Thanks RY. Until we meet again!
