The RY Medellin experience was great. It was awesome to have my accommodations and workspace taken care of plus sooo many amazing side trips already planned for us! The most unique and incredible part of the RY experience was having community leaders (Cata and Maria) and events planned by them. Their energy is infectious and it’s incredible to have people who really know the city running the show! I also enjoyed getting to meet the other group participants from all over the world.

Not to be dramatic - but Remote Year completely changed my outlook on life! I have completed three separate RY 1 month trips and each one I was afforded with new experiences and life lessons. Palermo September 2022, Lisbon October 2022, and Split June 2023. Each experience was unique in their own way but there truly is nothing like arriving in a new city and learning how to feel at home right away. That is the most important thing in my opinion with RY, and I can take a few times to know what you need to feel at home! For me, it is finding a good local grocery store, a gym/place to work out, and a good ice cream/gelato shop within walking distance! Palermo is no longer an option with RY, but if you have the chance to book Lisbon or Split - DO IT. Lisbon is an absolutely beautiful city (I went back again because I loved it so much!) and you will never regret having a month there - you will only wish you had more time! And I cannot speak more highly of Dado and Ivana in Split. They were the most helpful and caring CL’s I have had the pleasure to work with. There are so many places to see in Croatia and they might even join you on some adventures as well! Moral of the story - take the leap!! You won’t regret discovering what’s possible with remote work.

The accommodations were great, and while the location was not "Instagram" Bali, it had everything you could want or need.

the experience itself was really great. our hosts in medellin, cata and maria, were warm, responsive, and had great recommendations. the add on experiences also had a lot of variety from soccer games to shopping to hanging out and cooking together, so i think everyone had something to suit their preferences. definitely worth taking advantage of as many excursions as possible. i also liked that they weren’t too “corporate” - a lot of the meals we had were with local families, etc - you aren’t just going to chain restaurants. it was a more “authentic” live-there-for-a-month vibe than i expected. i’m taking off a star because i think RY has become excessively profit-driven since being acquired. for the cost of the trip, NOTHING is included and it became very tiring to constantly go purchase every add on and excursion in the marketplace. i started to feel very nickeled and dimed when we already paid thousands of dollars that functionally just went toward rent (in a building split between 3 people that would have cost around $1000 usd total). that is on remoteyear.

We’re thrilled to hear that you had a great time in Medellin! Our local teams work hard to make sure all our travelers feel welcomed and that our experiences feel truly local, and we’re happy this shone through. We appreciate your feedback regarding the cost of our program. We understand that our trips may be more expensive than traveling solo, and want to explain why. At Remote Year, we do our best to take care of all the details for our participants - including pre-trip Q&A sessions with our round the clock support team, accommodations, workspaces, 5 included community events & experiences, airport transfers, full time on-the-ground local teams, unofficial events, and access to our community and member events for alumni, as well as 24/7 external international health & safety support. Our goal is to make sure our trips our unforgettable, and above all, seamless, and we often hear that travelers find value in the additional support we provide, our community, and in time saved researching and vetting all of the logistics that go into planning a trip. We believe that offering add-on experiences individually ensures that our travelers have more flexibility and can choose the experiences that best align with their interests and schedules. We are constantly striving to make Remote Year trips more affordable and accessible for everyone and will take your feedback into consideration as we continue to evolve. Thank you for joining us in Medellin, we hope to see you on another trip soon! Happy travels, The Remote Year Team

The retreat in Pelion (Greece) experience was fantastic for me. Well organized and thought through. The activities were all well balanced, fresh local food and the location quite magical. The yoga and meditation teacher was really good and despite yoga was a bit too advanced for me I still enjoyed all the other activities. If you are looking for a week of head space and recharge this is the perfect thing!

This year has been nothing short of incredible. Remote Year does a fantastic job of getting people together to experience travel in ways that can only be done this way. Over the year the accommodations, co-working spaces, activities and team support have been top notch. There is still plenty of room for improvement, mainly on the IT backend of their platform and some experiences needing improvement but overall, for such an ambitious task of providing a year long journey, they're doing an excellent job. Eddie Jones has been a fantastic program leader, fostering a family bond between our group that few leaders could have. He's brought a group of complete strangers together and made them a family. Without him, this experience would have been radically different and not for the better. Eddie has been integral in making this the most legendary year of our lives. Great work. Overall, it's been an amazing journey with some room for improvement along the way. I'd recommend anyone thinking of doing RY to just go ahead and do it!
