I went to the store in Boulder, CO and was helped by a gentleman named "Smudge". He was incredibly helpful, kind and patient and made sure I got all the gear I needed for my camping trip. He took his time and wasn't rushing to the make the sale. He explained the various features of certain products so that I could make a well-informed purchasing decision.

I adore my new hiking boots! I love the high quality of every item my family has purchased over the years.

Recently bought an expensive new pair of hiking boots here. Impressed with the level of help provided and knowledge of the staff. Good stuff.

We had a pair of Women's North Face Cold Weather boots fail after 14 years of light use. The plastic used became brittle over time and shattered on the toe. North Face was aware of the problem based on online reviews, but they were unwilling to warranty the boots. REI stepped up on 5/20/17 and refunded us in full!!!! This is the ultimate test of a quality retailer. I commend REI on their commitment to excellence and support of their loyal customer base. We purchased over $500 of additional gear today at REI without any reservations about continuing to buy there. Russell Iida

Been a member for years and absolutely love REI. Bit surprised at your other reviewers who had bad service as that has not been my experience. Particularly impressive for me has been their return policy on digital items, like watches. I had a Garmin watch for 6months when one of the monitors stopped working. Both Garmin and REI offered to trade it in, but REI basically refunded the purchase price allowing me to buy a newer model. As I say, been a member for years and absolutely love REI!

Order some boots online that were out of stock at my local REI. The tracking info said they would be delivered in time for my honeymoon, but when my package came with all my other winter gear the boots were not there. I immediately went into my email to check & it said they were processing! Ah! (Honeymoon less than a week away) I called customer service & got transferred to JoAnne. She located my order & said that my boots were coming from a store rather than the warehouse & they ran out of the boots. She then took my phone # & said she would check into it for me, 10 minutes later she called me back saying that she canceled my previous order & reordered my boots...not only that but she put a rush order on my boots (FREE of charge!!!) in order to get them in time for my honeymoon! She offically made my day & I couldn't thank her enough for her amazing customer service & taking such GREAT care of me! YOU ROCK JOANNE!!! Thanks again! =)

I had ordered a jacket for hiking but when I received the package it had been opened by someone and taped back up. When I opened the package there was no jacket to be found just a ton of crinkled up and opened mail inside. I was furious that this happened so I called the non emergency number and also contacted REI about it. Luckily I was able to get another jacket mailed to me (but this time I'll be picking it up at the post office). I am beyond happy and thankful that they were nice enough to mail me another one. I most definitely will be shopping here again and highly recommend shopping at REI. Thank you so much for making my night better!

Every time I visit an REI store I feel welcome and surrounded by knowledgeable staff. No it's not the cheapest store with racks full of clearance items, but the quality of products is top notch. The staff has helped me with finding the right hiking and bike gear for years. Love REI!
