It’s handy for storing receipts electronically however if you’re looking for an app that rewards you in return for your spending habits data this may not be the one for you. I have been using Receipt Hog for 11 months now and have only reached enough ‘coins’ to exchange for £10s worth of rewards. This is after uploading consistently every week and reaching the full 100 coins weekly. A lot of the receipts are not eligible for coin rewards and are entered into a sweepstake or exchanged for ‘slots’ which are poorly paid too - on average 2-5 coins. The goalposts change a lot. For example, one merchant will be accepted on one occasion but not the next. Customer service is very poor and takes a ridiculous amount of time to respond. Sometimes I have no response at all, other times I have waited 4 months until I have heard back, yes 4 months!! The app also has lots of technical issues regularly and every few receipt uploads you are forced to take part in a survey.

Submitted 12 receipts, all with the European date format of DD/MM, and had all of them rejected stating they are old receipts. I sent them back to be checked again and have now had them all rejected for a different reason. I'm a level 10 and was fully expecting this to happen once I started reaching the levels with decent rewards (I've been uploading receipts for nearly a year!), I'm convinced they'll try anything to reject a receipt if you are over a certain level. Useless and a huge waste of time. I've made less than a fiver if I cash out now.

Been using this app for a while now and have received quite a bit of money since using it. The app is easy to use and register with as you can register with your email address or social media and doesn't take ages. They accept all sorts of receipts and with each photo of a receipt that you take you are given a certain number of points and once you have reached 1500 points you can choose your reward of £5 cash or amazon vouchers. To give you extra points to help you towards reaching 1500 points they also give you spins on the slot machine where you can win a range of prices from 10 points to £60. If you are looking for a way to earn money off your shopping then I would recommend not chucking away your receipts and instead load them onto this app where you will be able to turn them into cash and money off your weekly shop

The app is quick and easy to use, and ideal to make some cash on the side with receipts that you have anyway. Don’t expect to make lots of money fast, but it’ll take seconds of your time and the coins will stack up!
