It's a Promising Service for the Future
Really Wireless promises a ton of cool features for their subscribers (Many of which aren't functional just yet) and their early joining rates are reasonable. I purchased a service plan with them but unfortunately things didn't work out, here's why. Before purchasing their service I had contacted them via email to make sure my phone would be esim compatable (As that is currently the only way to get their service) and they assured me it was. After purchasing their service, I discovered that wasn't accurate. I got the onboarding email and tried to scan the QR code to download the esim profile multiple times to no avail. Really Wireless doesn't have customer support like most carriers do. They call it 'concierge' and you'll need to book an appointment to have someone reach out to you. There is a phone number to call, but it seems to be a cell phone, and in my experience they didn't answer. Booking for an appointment with concierge was several days out and 30 minutes before my appointment, they emailed me asking to reschedule for later that day (Which I was unable to accommodate that day). At this point I had discovered my phone was not esim compatable and had ordered an esim.me card, which claims to grant you the ability to load esim profiles onto a physical sim card. After attempting to download the esim profile several more times with no luck, I booked another appointment with Really's concierge. This time, they never reached out to me on my appointment date. So I tried booking yet another concierge call, only to have the same thing happen yet again. At this point I was extremely frustrated and feeling quite doubtful about any future success in being able to utilize Really's service. So, I decided to stay with my old carrier instead. I attempted to cancel my billing with Really, only to find that they're billing is run through Stripe (An awful payment processor in my experience as a customer and as a Doordasher and Instacart shopper). Within Stripe's dashboard your only option is to view billing statements or add another payment card. I then emailed Really's concierge, requesting that they cancel any future billing (As it was almost into the next billing month at this point) and refund me for the month of service I was completely unable to use, and wouldn't be able to. A couple days of back and forth later, and they assured me my billing would be cancelled and they would refund me for the month. After the 10 business days required to receive my refund had expired, I realized that I had no clue where the refund was being sent. I reached out to concierge again, and after a couple days a very helpful agent reached out to me to assist me in locating my refund. It was during this process I discovered it had been processed to one of my cards that I rarely use (Which was the original payment method that I forgot I had used, but I was unable to see the vital information needed to figure that out on my end within Stripe (Did I mention how much I hate Stripe?)). Boy did I feel stupid. After assisting me with this in a very professional and accommodating manner, he then asked for my input as to why I felt Really Wireless wasn't the service I signed up for. I obliged and provided the screenshots to prove it. This agent took this very seriously, and I believe he/they genuinely want to improve in every way as they are growing. In conclusion, Really Wireless promises to offer an amazing experience and service to their customers. While they don't hide the fact that many of their more advanced features aren't "up and running" just yet, their price and current features are tempting to say the least. They dropped the ball in terms of their customer service a bit in my experience initially, but after-the-fact they made things right and to my satisfaction. I only wish that things could've worked out between us. In the end they're clearly trying very hard to expand and change the game of cellular service for the better, though they currently seem to be stretched a bit thin. If you have the time to spare, they may be worth giving it a go. If not, I'm hopeful they will become wildly successful in the very near future and maybe then I'll give them another shot. For now, I'm stuck with my old carrier (Which I must admit is pretty awful). Seriously though, go check out their website. If they can hammer out the issues I experienced, then they could potentially be one of (if not the-) best cellular service providers on the market. Only time will tell.
