Returning student
Entering kindergarten was amazing. My daughter enjoyed the online activities and the classroom. Entering 1st grade went a little downhill but still helpful for me as a parent and her as a student. Classroom time was great but the online portion was not as engaging. She enjoyed Wordy, but the interactive teacher was very dry and hard to keep watching. Overall, the courses are designed well and very helpful for the upcoming school year. That's why we are returning for the 3rd time. It has been proven for two years to be very very helpful.

Parents might think that not much can…
Parents might think that not much can be accomplished in 5 weeks. Let me be the first to say, I was that parent and I was completely wrong. My child not only has better reading skills but a better understanding of what he’s reading. I was really impressed with the program and had not hesitations in re-signing him up again.

Hello Ashley, thank you reviewing the program. We enjoy teaching the programs so much we wish each one could last all summer long! Happily, the habit of reading for pleasure that kids get from the program lasts well beyond the end of the program. We appreciate that your child benefited from enrolling and we hope to see you this summer. - Tara, Customer Care Specialist

Internal disruptions and yelling answers
In the middle of the course, a special needs student (much older than the other kids) joined and sat in a front seat. I am all for including special needs students into "regular" classes, although this student was very disruptive and out of control, at times. It was hard for the rest of the students behind him to hear what the teacher was saying or to contribute because he would blurt out the answer. I just think this took from the rest of the kids and this may not have been the best place for him. Also, I did not appreciate that one way the teacher got students involved was to yell an answer "as loud as possible". The room was very small which made it even louder. I don't understand what this would teach the children except disrespect and to yell in class, which is usually not what they are taught in school. I do appreciate that the teacher was enthusiastic and tried to learn the students' names in a short time. And the make-up sessions were not concurrent with that week's assignments.

Thank you for your review, MB. I'm happy to hear that your child's teacher was enthusiastic and warm, but it sounds like other parts of your program experience did not live up to expectations. While we train our teachers in appropriate classroom management techniques and how to include every student, we do not allow students to enroll in a program as far below their age as you describe. Obviously, we missed something here and will learn from it. We hope to see you back for a future class. - John Boyd, Director of Instruction
