Why spend more money
I bought Emily when she was 2 1/2 months old from PS. I bought Winston from different third party. Emily cost $1000 more than Winston. I could not speak with the breeder of PS’s puppy, but I did speak to Winston’s breeder, many times, and was able to ask questions about Winston. She even sent me a video of Winston😊 Now, PS offers that 10yr Health Commitment, which is a marketing deploy to give the consumer peace of mind, which helps you justify spending much more money on the pup. BUT when something happens they wiggle out of it just as an insurance company does. Example. Emily (from PS) is the perfect dog by far, she does not get table scraps nor does she get treats. Which are things you do not do. When Emily turned 1yr old a week later get got sick and had to go to the ER. Her blood tests showed her Amylase and Lipase were off the charts, the ER said her results are most consistent with gastrointestinal upset or mild pancreatitis. Now Emily has never been sick, eaten table food or treats. And now she will have to eat prescribed low-fat food for the rest of her life, at 1yr old. And if you do not know prescription food is three times more than other foods. A responsible breeder performs blood tests and removes those dogs with undesirable traits. I wasn’t asking PS to pay the full amount of the ER bill, or the fact she has to eat prescribed food for life, I only asked for $500.But after several emails back and forth I’m told, they want a veterinary to make a confirmed diagnosis that Emily does have pancreatitis. The blood levels were enough for the ER veterinarian to make the call, but not enough for PS?! I asked PS if they were going to pay the extra $1000’s for those extra tests to get that ‘confirmed’ diagnosis? And they would not answer that. So, decide for yourself. Is it worth spending an extra $1000 and more with PS? There are other third parties where you get more…
