TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Received our puppy and within 1 day she was terribly ill and then hospitalized shortly after. We have been trying to figure out what is wrong and have spent nearly 4K on her already (and we still do not know). PuppySpot is willing to refund us $30 as they say we gave her a vaccine within two days of getting her (we followed the timeline recommended by the American Veterinary Medical Association and every vet out there). Are you kidding me? We paid a premium to use their service to get a "happy and healthy puppy." What a joke. Now our puppy is going through kidney failure and we just spent another 12k trying to help her through it. And I don’t need support calling me to ask how the puppy is doing (as they stated in their response). I need them to reimburse me.

Jessica - We were deeply concerned to receive your feedback. As living breathing beings, as unfortunate as it is, puppies sometimes get sick, which is why we have a dedicated health team to provide ongoing support for our puppy parents. Since learning there might be an issue, a member of our Management team was quick to reach out to and see how we could help and have been working with you closely since. We hope that your little one feels better soon and we’ll continue to be here for you both until she is feeling better.

Puppy Mills Promised & Ill Health Guarantee
PuppySpot has no intention whatsoever of honoring either its No Puppy Mill Promise or 10 Year Health Guarantee. I highly recommend consumers take screenshots of their puppy’s details before and after purchase with timestamps as proof and record audio or log any calls you make or receive. Because if you are unlucky enough to purchase a sick dog from them you may need these things to file a consumer complaint with the state attorney general’s office or BBB, but also so you don’t feel like you are going insane when “health managers” claim they never received your calls, are still waiting on your email with vet records to process a claim, or that your current call is the first time they are hearing of this serious health issue. They may sound very sympathetic as they did with me, but ultimately they have no intention of honoring the health guarantee, even if you provide them legitimate documentation from every vet your puppy has ever seen, from regular vets to specialists with full clinical summaries & official diagnoses. Even if you do everything right, they will not help you. Purchase health insurance on day one--you WILL need it.
Before I purchased my goldendoodle, PuppySpot's “Puppy Concierge” assured me their breeders tested both parents for genetic diseases such as allergic skin disease or hip dysplasia, two hereditary diseases Goldendoodles are known to suffer if breeders are not vigilant. After reading very positive online reviews and then noting their page dedicated to reporting puppy mills by their consumers—I fell for all of it. I was gravely mistaken. I have spent thousands of dollars & made multiple attempts to file claims with PuppySpot within the first few months of purchase. After my dog’s paw pads began swelling and splitting open this April her vet referred her to a dermatologist who diagnosed my puppy with atopic dermatitis, an incurable skin disease in which a dog with a hereditary predisposition towards having an allergic reaction to certain environmental triggers is exposed to them and suffers symptoms that can become more severe with age if left untreated. Allergy testing confirmed my dog needs immunotherapy to treat over 20 common allergens in our region. Expensive allergy medications that only mask symptoms and carry their own health risks and side effects have so far been ineffective. Immunotherapy, which may not work, will take a year to complete and will cost over $1K. This is after spending approximately the same amount just getting a diagnosis. I am doing what I can to schedule outings at low allergen hours/days, taking extensive measures to remove possible triggers from my home, buying dog boots, medicated shampoos, and paw balms, but I can't protect her from inhaled allergens that can spread from over 400 miles away. PuppySpot’s health manager informed me after 5 months of processing my claim & repeatedly misplacing my paperwork that they do not consider atopic dermatitis to be a genetic condition & my claim is denied.
After doing research to see if I can perhaps limit my dog's suffering by knowing what else to expect, I found out her father was born in a puppy mill listed on the Humane Society's "Horrible Hundred" for keeping 81 adult breeding dogs & 78 puppies, multiple Animal Welfare Act citations, & an official USDA warning. This was easily discovered via Google search & the breeder's AKC registrations on their website. If PuppySpot cared to review and compare AKC documentation against known puppy mills this situation would have been so easy to prevent. While checking over my own screenshots and documentation I also noticed that my puppy's sire's weight was altered after purchase on PuppySpot.com. While fraudulent in terms of changing my puppy's expected weight, what really concerned me was that I had been told to feed my puppy small breed kibble, when she needed large breed nutrition.
Please give this business a pass. My puppy is my whole heart and I will do anything for her. I also deeply regret contributing to a situation in which other puppies like her may suffer horrible health problems due to a genetic heritage of animal cruelty. I have learned much about what a good breeder should be since this ordeal began, and PuppySpot is a front for inhumane puppy mills at worst & unprofessional indiscriminate breeders at best. Pay attention to PuppySpot's actions, not their words, and you will see what I mean. For example, you will not know the name of the breeder until you are holding the puppy in your arms. At that point PuppySpot says if you are unhappy you can pay to return her. And who would return a frightened wiggly puppy to a place that so obviously made her sick? I wish you all luck and hope your puppies are blessed with good health and long, happy lives. Thank you for reading.

We realize that it took much more time than everyone involved would have preferred, however, we are glad that we were able to connect with Sarah and reach a mutually agreeable resolution to her concerns. PuppySpot takes pride in our breeder programs and we hope our actions taken here provide Sarah with the comfort she has been seeking.

I am still waiting to have things made right. BUYER BEWARE!
I am still waiting to hear back from management. I ardently believe the dog sent to me is not the dog in the photos from the puppyspot website.
This dog while great looks nothing like the original photos that attracted us to purchase him.
We were supposed to receive weekly pictures, which never happened so there is no way to track the transformation to what was ultimately delivered to us 3 weeks later.
The excuse told to me after having a breeder and vet confirm this is likely not he same dog from the photo, is that the microchip matches? To which I say matches what???? the fake photo used to get me to purchase? Im sure the microchip in this dog is the same one that was in THIS dog as puppy. However this dog is no the puppy in the photo and I have no other photos (which were promised at point of sale) to reference to prove otherwise.
Very shady dog agency and i will never use again. I will be going ti take legal action soon if I don't hear back. At this point there is nothing to do but love and raise this puppy. Unfortunately, it is not the dog from the photo which reminded me of my last dog I just lost and thus I am very disappointed:( It is sad to deal with this as a dog lover and someone who has raised and fostered Husky's for over a decade! I was hoping to have this dog comfort the loss of my last Husky that made it to 17 and they looked identical in the photo. My wife and 2 young kids do ultimately love this dog and will give him the best life ever, no thanks to the scam to get him here. I guess I am just happy it happened to us and not someone who would take it out on the animal or send him back! NEVER WILL I BUY A DOG ONLINE AGAIN WITHOUT SEEING THE PUPPY IN PERSON FIRST!

Adam - Since receiving your review, our management team has been in communication with you and have addressed your concerns. While we cannot guarantee the size, weight or even adult coat markings of any of our puppies, as they are living, breathing beings, each with different genetic makeup, we could've done a better job of sending updated photos of your puppy, to avoid any confusion. We are happy that we were able to address your concerns directly and look forward to your everlasting journey with your new best friend.

Customer service poor but happy with our puppy
We waited for over a month the get our puppy. We were told it would be driven to us in the same state and after I was read a script every time I called to check on the delivery I finally got a phone call from a manager. We had asked for videos of our puppy to show proof of life after panicking with no new information after several weeks. Rachel from Puppy Spot was super helpful and got finally gave up updated information on the puppy. He was packed in a crate and put on a plane which I was not happy with but was finally glad to meet him. He was super cute and very smart. He was able to sit, stay and fetch after he warmed up at the house. We are happy with the puppy but not happy with the majority of the customer service.

AC - Welcoming home a furry family member should be full of joy and we're disappointed that you have negative feelings about your experience. We never want a puppy parent to feel they are unable to reach us for updates at any point of their experience as that is the exact opposite of what we strive to provide. Our relationship began when we matched you with your puppy and despite your frustrating experience, our team will continue to be here as you need us.

Fly puppies in cargo???
I am very disappointed in Puppy Spots policy that allows puppies to be flown in the cargo hold of a plane. This is unconscionable. I would not allow my puppies to be traumatized that way. I only use road transportation and this is not an option with them

Sharon - Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. First and foremost, we appreciate your stance on your preferred method of transportation for your puppies. While we do offer several travel options for our puppies, our dedicated team, vetted breeders, and travel partners, always put the health and well-being of our puppies first. That said, there are many factors to consider when making travel decisions and our entire community, will always choose the safest, most comfortable way to get your new puppy home, as quickly as possible. Which depending on distance may rule out ground transportation. Our team takes great care of our puppies during travel whether it be via Ground or Air, and to that end, we invite you visit our website to learn more about our travel practices and safety precautions. https://www.puppyspot.com/dog-travel

Horrible company
Horrible company. Do not trust them! I saw some bad reviews and I thought to myself, “no way. Maybe they’ve changed or maybe there was a misunderstanding”. Definitely not. I paid for a puppy, let’s call her L. She was supposed to come to us two weeks and one day after I paid. I asked if I could pick her up from the breeder and they said no. So we had to pay 899 just for her to be flown and driven to our home. I was fine with that. We paid over 400 dollars in taxes. I was fine with that as well. But the thing is, I paid 4,436.09 dollars on a puppy that was listed for 3,199 dollars. Very decepting.
About three days before she was scheduled to arrive at our home, we get a call saying that she is suddenly sick and cannot be sold to us. WHAT. So we had a choice between getting a refund or choosing a new puppy.
We chose another puppy that was listed for $3,649. I asked before we made the choice if it had to be the same breed and price because when I had looked on their site, there weren’t any available in the same breed or even the same price. So I asked if it was maybe 200-300 more, what would we need to do. The customer service agent said that should be fine, but anything more, we would have to pay. I was fine with that. When I called to let them know we had chosen another puppy, they wanted us to pay up the full difference. When I told that person what I had been told, that’s when they offered a 200 dollar discount.
I paid the remaining difference, which came to the total price if $4,706.71. The listing price was $3,649, so that’s over a $1000 difference just there.
I had a nagging feeling so I looked into puppy L and it said, “this puppy is already playing with their new family”. So that didn’t sit right with me. I think that she was not sick and that the breeder just sold her to someone else. I let that go since we had already decided on the second puppy, let’s call her C.
I still had this nagging feeling so I did a reverse image search and found her on another site! I reached out to them and it turns out it was the breeder. They were selling her for $2600 and having her brought to our doorsteps was 350. I asked if she was available and they said yes. So that just further backs my suspicions that puppy L was not really sick and that she was sold to another family.
When I had originally asked why it was more than two weeks when they had initially told me it would take 1-2 weeks, most likely just a week for the puppies to be brought to your doorstep. I was told it was because she needed more time to bond with the breeder, which I was completely understanding of and actually liked. After some investigation, it turns out thw reason it takes so long is because their planes operate once every two weeks, which is why the dates are all messed up. When I had paid for the second puppy C, I was told she would arrive two and a half weeks later because again, she needed time to bond more with the breeder. I talked to the breeder and they informed me that that was not the case at all. She was ready to go whenever I was ready. The dates in which puppy L and puppy C were supposed to come were exactly two weeks apart on a Saturday. Pretty convenient for “more time for bonding”.
We decided to cancel our order and tried reaching out to customer service and was told that a different department handled cancellations and that they would relay the message and that team would reach out to me within 47-72 hours. But when you look at their cancellation policy online, it says that if plane arrangements have already been made, you have to pay a fee of 495 dollars. With my previous experience with puppy L, it was about 48 hours after the tenative travel proposal was accepted when I got the travel arrangements confirmed. So I knew that they were trying to get around losing all that money and try and get that 495 dollar fee. I tried reaching out all day only to be told that the person handling my case was busy. I then resorted to having to seek legal advice in which I was told I could take legal action. So I reached out via chat and informed them that I wanted a peaceful resolution to this problem, however since it is such a time sensitive issue, if I did not hear back from them by the end of the day, I would be seeking third party assistance. Behold a miracle. Suddenly the head of department was available and contacted me right away. They said because it had not been 48 hours since I had made the last additional payment, I was able to cancel and receive a refund for full payment, which would be confirmed on Monday.
Long story short, do not trust this company. There were several times where I asked about both puppies and were given different answers from customer service agents. They clearly do not know much about the puppies and go by a script. They overcharge by a lot and they cannot be trusted. They lie about a lot. Do not trust them. If you find a puppy you like, find the breeder and contact

Since the submission of this review, a member of our leadership team reached out to Ms Lee and we had a positive discussion regarding her experience with PuppySpot. We are grateful that Ms Lee took the time to discuss her concerns with us. There were a number of expectations that were not clearly communicated to Ms Lee, leading her experience to be not what she, and PuppySpot, expected nor wanted. While we regret the circumstances that led her to leave this review, we believe we have addressed her concerns in a positive manner and have wished her and her family the best of luck adding a puppy to their family in the future.

Totally uses puppy mills
Despite the no puppy milk promise, I believe my puppy came from one. The transport process was also ridiculous - she came from a breeder in Indiana, I live outside of Cincinnati. She was in a small RV (I’m assuming in a crate the whole time) and taken to Alabama and Tennessee for other puppy deliveries before delivered to me. She was handed to me with a envelope of paperwork, no ID check, no confirmation that I was the owner. I asked when she had last eaten, the man and a young boy who was carrying her looked at each other confused and the man said “she’s probably due”. She then proceeded to inhale the entire bowl of food I gave her (and knowing her eating habits now, that is NOT like her) - so she was very hungry. When I took her to the vet, he said she was underweight and within 3 weeks of regular feeding with the same food the breeder recommended she’s gained 3 lbs and at a good weight now. I’m thankful for her because she is a joy and a wonderful addition to my home but she absolutely came from a puppy mill and I feel the delivery service that was mandated was inadequate bordering on animal abuse.
** I also looked up the breeder after receiving my puppy based off the name on the paperwork (which I had no opportunity to do prior to receiving her) and there are multiple articles citing that he runs a puppy mill and has been cited before. So despite protestations otherwise, it is a puppy mill.

As discussed by a member of our management team with Ms Carpenter, our breeder review program ensures that we do not work with puppy mills. Our standards, as developed with our Scientific Advisory Board, ensure that only quality breeders are part of our community. As a community of dog lovers, we are saddened to learn of her belief that this is otherwise. That said, we are glad that her puppy is doing well and is a loving member of her family. We wish her the best.

Do not believe the positive reviews
Do not believe the positive reviews - they fake these. This was a horrific experience. These people use lies & puppy mills to provide low-quality, unhealthy puppies.
First, the puppy came late, was poorly communicated when he was going to arrive, and kept shifting his arrival around. When he arrived, he arrived with testicle medical problems.
Here's where it gets sketchy: Not long after they called me and made me CHANGE the review to something positive. Shortly after this, the puppy spontaneously died (heart attack? Stroke? Seizure? I don't know). They would not let me leave an honest review, supplied a puppy that died, and supplied him so late with existing medical conditions. This was a horrendous experience and I would not recommend them.
Plus, they only coerce people to leave positive reviews by changing the negative; when I asked to further amend it they found themselves "unable to change" them.

We have had significant and meaningful conversations with Evan regarding their experience and believe we have reached a resolution that satisfies all involved. We are truly saddened by the events with Evan's puppy and hope that the future holds new joy.
