I was an administrator for reputable breeders in the state of Indiana for 5 years (NOT puppy mills), and this is my honest review of PuppySpot.com. Note: I have never listed a puppy on PuppySpot as a breeder, so I have nothing to gain/lose by giving this review. I merely want to give an insider's perspective. 1) Communication: Unless you managed to get in touch with someone in management, communication with the regular puppy managers was always hit or miss and often frustrating. They hound breeders for updated photos and information but take weeks to respond to time-sensitive emails (i.e. when is my puppy traveling so I know when to take them to the vet, did the photos I sent make it to the new puppy family?...etc). 3) Outrageous costs: Whatever amount you're paying PuppySpot for your new puppy, please know that the breeder who raised those beautiful parent dogs, trained them, feed them, love them, and helped them bring that beautiful puppy into the world...that breeder is only getting about 1/3 of what you're paying PuppySpot. "Well, it's worth it for the Health Guarantee," you may say. That's fair. Except that those expenses are ALSO paid by the breeder, not PuppySpot. Just something to keep in mind. 3) Transparency: Never once have I seen someone from PuppySpot actually go to visit any of the breeders I worked with or meet the puppies they're selling to you. So, if puppy managers are telling you all about the personality and home environment of the puppy you want, they are 100% lying to you. They don't know that puppy at all. 4) Exclisivity: Breeders who list puppies on PuppySpot are not allowed to list their puppies anywhere else, period. If they find listings on other sites with the same puppy name and photos being used, it counts as a strike against the breeders' profile and their account is disabled until all other listings are taken down. Three strikes, and a breeder is banned from PuppySpot for life. This is unfair to both the breeder, the families looking for a new puppy, and the puppy itself, as not everyone can afford PuppySpots outrageous prices and breeders often would rather talk directly to a prospective puppy family than go through a PS rep. My advice: If you'd like to find a new fur-ever friend without breaking the bank or supporting businesses like PuppySpot, I recommend looking on Puppies.com and AKC.com, where you will deal directly with the breeders. Here are some things to look for in a good, honest dog breeder: They have been raising the same breed of dog for at least 5 years, preferably more, and know a lot about that particular breed. They welcome prospective families to their home to meet the new puppies and parents. They have well-behaved and socialized parent dogs. They can show you parent pedigrees and OFA documents. They do health check-ups at 6 weeks and can provide that information to you. TALK to them on the phone, don't just email.

Puppy Spot helped get our Yorkie puppy just as planned, on time and was brought to us via very efficiently planning Unfortunately, she became very ill with an apparent rare liver shunt condition and we lost her 2 weeks after we had her We are waiting for Puppy Spot to honor their guarantee and refund our money

Please read this FULLY before supporting this company! Over a year ago I purchased a beautiful German Shepherd from this website, I did tons of research on the breed that I wanted and on the perfect place to buy my puppy. I wanted to make sure it was completely safe, no scams, no puppy mills, and proper temperament tests on these pups. After researching, PuppySpot seemed like a very reputable and safe space to purchase Pure Bred dogs who were AKC registered and the supposed “puppy promise” for health guarantee and protection from “backyard breeders”. They lure you in with this amazing communication, pictures, and so on but the reality is you have NO idea what you’re getting. I’ve been working with working line shepherds and high quality dogs and been in the community so I know remotely what is expected. They are not TRANSPARENT about who there breeders are, what temperament these dogs are, what their background or experience are and give you no way of contacting the breeder yourself to make sure they’re not puppy mills or ill-experienced breeders. Being pure bred does not mean, being a QUALITY purebred dog especially for working line breeds like Dobermans, German Shepherds, or Belgian Malis. My beautiful girl is named Nanichi and she supposedly came from purebred, amazing parents and I even asked for information about the parents and pictures to be sure I was getting the right dog for me. Everything seemed so perfect. There was a mix up and they nearly sent me the wrong dog, her sister, luckily I corrected it. But after having my girl for over a year, spending over $10k on training, working her like the working breed that she is, it is undeniable that she is not GENETICALLY sound. She’s extremely reactive, dog aggressive, and people reactive even though she’s fully obedience trained. Inherently she is genetically flawed and is very nervous. The breeders are extremely irresponsible and are just making puppies out of no coordination or behavior desired results. I paid $4000 for this puppy through the website. After hours of searching, I found the same Sire used for her, under a different persons name, selling puppies for $800 with a different Dam at a farm in Missouri (which is where she originally came from under the name of Byrn) called Cajun Hideaway Farms. I called them and they told me they had only been breeding for about a year or two and that they had borrowed the Dam for the litter and did not know her personally. It is so disappointing and disgusting to see how I (and hundreds of other people) was scammed out of $3000 and got a wrongfully bred dog. Don’t get me wrong, I love her to death and she is my everything but I cannot express enough please do not waste your money on this company. I reached out many times, tried calling PuppySpot, emailing them, chatting them but they NEVER responded, in fact, they would hang up on me before I even got in contact with a representative because they only “care” before the puppy gets to you but not after, not even for open communication. This is the reason I chose to write this. I have screenshots and proof of everything I’m saying, so I can honestly say it was such a facade and there are so many better reputable breeders out there who want pure bred, genetically solid and stable dogs and strive for perfection-not just making money off our hearts. She’s an amazing dog because of all the work I put in to make up for the terrible breeding!

We have connected with Ms Garcia to discuss her concerns. We have shared that we take her concerns seriously and have put a plan in place together to address them. We hope to help Ms Garcia with this going forward - and while we are disappointed that we were unable to help earlier, it was in no way us intentionally ignoring her needs. We hope to be able to resolve some of her concerns as we review with her in greater detail.

After we were told our puppy was on the way to us, we got a call that our puppy had died before he traveled. After that, they promise to be in communication all the time for finding a new puppy… They were very helpful the first two days and then never returned phone calls after. We also continued to get app notifications about things we should be training our puppy to do flung after he had already died with photos of him and his name. They were very hard to see. I am not impressed with how this company does business.

I purchased a puppy and was guaranteed the puppy was healthy. Later to find out the puppy underwent surgery to repair an umbilical hernia and had parasites in her stool. None of the above was shared until after I took possession of the puppy. Puppy Spot is coming across as a puppy mill

Do not buy from Puppyspot. They are a basically a scam. I ordered my dog Irwin from Puppyspot for $3700 which at the time was worth it. Fast forward I was 2 days away from getting him to get a call from Puppyspot saying my payment bounced, to find out my bank gave me the money back. So I called to see if I could use another source of payment, lady told me she would talk to her supervisor but to have her hang up on me. So fast forward an hour I call back not hearing anything. To find out she cancelled my order. After that I tried to order him again with my girlfriends name, my mom's name but to no prevail. All hope was lost until my girlfriend found THE SAME EXACT DOG Irwin on another site called Lancaster Puppies for only $495(plus $300 delivery) which they just delivered him to me just yesterday. Puppyspot is never the recommended choice for me. So in summary do your research.
