After we paid for our puppy we had many questions. We couldn't reach our initial contact.. we left messages and he never bothered to return our call. We finally spoke to someone who was insulting and left us feeling terrible. It was really a terrible experience. Also we received absolutely no information on the travel plans other than where to pick her up. She was locked in a van for days with no fresh air or running around time. Not impressed.

Know Before You Buy
While the puppy I got is wonderful with a great temperament, there is so much that went wrong with my experience post-sale:
1) The sales process was great and probably the only part of the process I think went smoothly. The sales rep was super responsive and I was always auto-transferred to him somehow with each and every phone call. He was very patient with my indecisiveness and placed temporary holds on a couple of puppies while I decided one to take home. That said, once I finalized the sale I had zero contact with him. My phone number was routed to a general customer service number with long wait times, and getting a response timely via email was inconsistent (sometimes within a day, sometimes a few to several days later). Basically, it’s very apparent you don’t matter as much and enter some sort of customer queue once you’ve paid for a puppy.
2) I added a star for PuppySpot’s transparency about the umbilical hernia my puppy had prior to transport and appreciated the honesty. They allowed me to think it over before replying via email that I’d still accept the puppy in spite of the hernia.
3) Transportation: I was told by the sales rep that my puppy would arrive by plane from Indiana to California likely into the first week of January, but they ended up transporting her via Premiere Pet on a 3-day road trip to a meeting place about 45 mins from me along with several other puppies. I was also told by at least three reps in writing and via phone that I didn’t need to bring a crate with me for pick-up (even though the app and all pickup reminders I received said I needed to), but it turned out I *did* need to have a crate. I ended up just holding her in the back seat with a towel while a friend drove us home.
4) When I saw the breeder name and looked it up, it was on a list of USDA-certified puppy mills with something like 30+ breeding dogs (which clearly contradicts PuppySpot’s “no puppy mill promise”).
5) Last but not least (and worst of all), she came with Giardia. I’m 8 weeks into having her and $1K+ into treatments, appointments, and fecal tests with no sign of improvement. This has been by far the most stressful puppy experience I’ve had where nothing I’m trying (including the incessant cleaning) seems to work. There’s no telling how much longer she will carry it, but for as long as she does, I can’t properly house-train (she needs to stay in a confined area that I clean daily) or socialize her with other dogs. Vacations/out-of-town trips are out of the question since no daycare will take her until she is parasite free. PuppySpot covers a measly $150 for parasites, which is only a fraction of my out of pocket expenses, and insurance covers nothing since she came with it and it’s therefore considered a pre-existing condition. My puppy was also found to have bilateral luxating patellas, so it remains to be seen if PuppySpot will cover anything in the future should something happen related to this condition. Insurance won’t because again, it’s pre-existing. Hopefully, it doesn’t impact her in the long run.
My advice to anyone considering using PuppySpot is to make sure to request the “nose to tail checkup” to include a fecal test. Ask for a copy of the test result proving the puppy is clean prior to delivery, and expect communication issues post-sale. If PuppySpot refuses a fecal test, don’t move forward unless you’re OK dealing with the hell that is Giardia or some other stubborn parasite. Know what you’re getting into and consider other better-rated sites like Pawrade or Good Dog, both of which have better overall ratings than PuppySpot. Or better yet, ask around for referral or research quality breeders near you who don’t actually need to go through a broker to sell their pups. Just know that with PuppySpot, know that it’s possible you’ll purchase from a puppy mill, you’re definitely paying AT LEAST twice the cost of the actual puppy if you were to purchase directly from the breeder itself, and you’re not necessarily guaranteed a healthy pup (in spite of what they advertise) upon receipt. Finally - get a fecal test, get a fecal test, get a fecal test. Get that clean fecal test or pass. I can’t emphasize that enough.

Travel Arrangement Problems
I was told that I would be able to change the travel arrangements without a fee by my puppy concierge but later had to pay a fee to change it. I was not told of the location my puppy was in and therefore selected the pick up near home option. Later the Concierge told me the location was in Ohio and when I immediately asked for the meet the breeder option he said we would get refunded the difference. I don't understand how I was supposed to select the meet up option without them telling me the approximate location I would have to travel. This is more than 200 dollars wasted.

Puppymill and thoroughbred
I was in search of a Yorkie and I found a little guy who was 6 months old and just looked like he needed a home. I called PuppySpot on a Saturday where I was told that I would have him in 2 weeks and that a customer service rep would call me on Monday to get everything scheduled. She said that the breeder was very reputable and that he was tiny. I gave her the $4700 for the dog without hesitation. Monday rolls around and I don’t hear anything, tuesday rolls around still nothing so I try to reach out. The process of communication is absolutely terrible so it took quite awhile. I used the app to ask about his weight, why his ears didn’t stand up, and just some other questions. I was told his ears weren’t up bc of the weight of his hair. I’m starting to get a bad feeling bc there was absolutely no communication of puppy spots end unless I reached out to them first and then waited hours for them to return my call. Finally about 4 weeks later we have a date set for me to pick up my new puppy but puppyspot says they need to finalize the details with the breeder. The night before my flight to pick him up they still haven’t confirmed the meet. When I land the next day, it was like pulling teeth to find out where to meet the breeder. Finally we meet and he is definitely not full
Yorkie. However I already loved him so I kept him. We believe he is maybe a Havashire.
Anyways he is skin and bones when we get him. The breeder said she tried to trim his ears (I think hoping they’d stand up which they didn’t but she cut his ear in the process). We were planning to drive him back to our home state bc we didn’t want to scare him with the airport. We stopped at a rest area to allow him to go potty and we thought he was lame. When setting him down in the grass, he just fell over, he wouldn’t get up. We finally figured out that he just didn’t know what grass was. He was fine when we put him on the sidewalk and just used the sidewalk to potty. We quickly realized that he was a puppy mill dog. Roscoe won our hearts immediately and he is the most kind and gentle dog. However he lacks instincts that normal dogs have and it has definitely been a struggle to train him. He is so full of love and we believe that’s bc he didn’t receive any attention in the mill. He’s safe now and surrounded by people who shower him with love. I’m thankful to puppyspot that I found Roscoe but do not give your money to this place.

Very unpleasant experience
Very unpleasant experience. With so many scams on the internet, I found it highly suspect that puppy spot was unable to provide me with current pictures of the puppy and pictures/videos of the parents. I was about to drop over 7k on this puppy. As a professional dog trainer, my advice is to use another service. Proceed with caution with this company. 🐶

Lack of communication
Lack of communication. Not sure what Covid has to do with the phone message. Delay in answers, lack of transparency with the breeder. Multiple pups died and necropsy's were being performed. Our puppy had ear mites. Sounds like a puppy mill to us. We received a call that she wasn't going to come home the date planned and a shoulder shrug because of our plane reservations, car reservations and hotel. The willingness on your part to put a 2.5 pound puppy on a plane by herself with a layover ....unconscionable. Especially in the winter. When we got her her, nails had not been clipped nor her pads trimmed. Picking her up in a parking lot at a hotel was again suspect of a puppy mill.

We love our new puppy.
We love our new puppy. He has been renamed Little Cooper. We have not followed up with your messages or AKC stuff as we have had our hands full since Cooper got here with his health problems.
He showed up with a hacking cough that his new Vet, Pet Wellness Center has him on medications for. Our first choice of dogs was a dog named Emmet that passed away before delivery from an upper raspatory infection. This has us extremely worried about Cooper. We are waiting to see if his cough gets better. If not, the Pet Wellness Center will be changing the medication.
Our second item of importance is that Cooper showed up with Giardia. We are also treating him for the parasite. We use a local vet Pet Wellness Center, that is much better than Banfield. The vet says both of these items are curable, but very dangerous to a brand-new puppy. How did he ever pass the vet checkup in Kansas before being transported to California?
We are asking what procedures are in place for these types of breeder issues and problems? Can we expect the breeder and Puppyspot to cover these expenses since the dog showed up with them? We are very tired of staying up all hours with a very sick dog and having to administer medications 24/7. We would just like to enjoy our new dog without all the problems and bills.

Would NEVER use Puppy Spot again
Process of buying the puppy was easy. Once purchased, it became insanely frustrating and I wouldn’t recommend to ANYONE. Once purchased all call get routed to a puppy manager team. After being on hold for 30-45+ minutes multiple times, we simply gave up. I had to dial *67 to reach someone in sales then try to extract info from them but they claim only the person selling the pup has info. The sales person was helpful and nice and responsive by email but I received multiple pieces of conflicting info from most everyone I spoke to.
Re: the breeder whom we communicated with after the puppies arrival, they were very lovely and sweet people. Very helpful and responsive BUT our 5 month old puppy had NEVER been on a walk, only defecates on concrete or sidewalk leading me to believe it had rarely been on grass and my guess is it was never trained in the slightest. While I wouldn’t expect a puppy to be trained by a breeder, I would expect a modicum of effort.
