The owner is rude and arrogant. He's genuinely so full of himself. Let me explain, because this is a multi-year process. First, on customer service, Kevin (the owner) shows up when he wants and treats you depending on his mood. Sometimes he's nice, sometimes he's not. For example, when I tried to delete my account, like under my GDPR right in Pufferfish's OWN Terms of Service, he tried to combat it?! He didn't even let me delete my account! I had argue! This guy is just passive aggressive and rude in general. Just try opening a ticket. I would be surprised if no other review mentions this!! Second, on reliability, this guy is the biggest hypocrite. His claims of better DDoS protection never stack up. One provider to the next, every few months. After a period of time, there's ALWAYS MAJOR ISSUES, and the owner (Kevin) just blames anything but himself. He even tried to make his own DDoS protection, saying "he's smart" and can figure it out, but it failed HORRIBLY. Proof? My server had so many issues due to this! So, he switched BACK to Cosmicguard, after he blamed Cosmicguard for being "not good enough???" So he used Cosmic, switched to his own protection, then switching back after his own protection FAILED. ...And so much more problems. Why would someone want a service that is so unreliable AND with a horrible owner's attitude? Finally, I also just don't like the price. It's SO EXPENSIVE and not good value compared to other hosts I have seen and tried. You can get the hardware elsewhere for cheaper, and it'll come with better and kinder support too. I have wanted to say this for a while, but I just saw some people talking about Pufferfish's poor reliability, and finally decided to post this. Edit(s): They've just asked for more details to try and take my review offline. But I don't have an account with them anymore, so obviously I don't have any reference details for THEM (eg my "reference number"?). But I have plenty of screenshots. Or, you can just view the owner's own statements (just look at his announcements and you can tell all the network reliability issues for example). Second, replying to the GDPR point. Kevin, you say that, but I have screenshots + a very distinct memory of me having to fight for it. So no, I am afraid you are wrong. I'm frankly annoyed you would even lie through your teeth. Maybe the policies are different now, but I stand by what I said. Third, no, I did not use Pufferfish for years. The title is across years because that is how long I have seen the poor unreliability for/I asked for account deletion significantly after. The server itself I used it for a while and switched away (I won't advertise or mention another host because that is bad taste/I have no wish to). And third, make all the excuses you want, but the truth is, Pufferfish Host in my experience is unreliable. I know others who agree, but that is besides the point (this review is about my experiences). You saying that I leave "fake" reviews is again in poor taste. I mean what I said, I am telling the truth, and you can't discount it.

Hello, Your review doesn't really make any sense. First of all, we NEVER fight valid GDPR removal requests, though for US compliance reasons we are required to keep certain documentation about your account for a period of 7 years. We retain no personal data outside of what is required by those obligations. I'm not sure what you're referring to at all regarding that complaint. Second of all, if our service was so "TERRIBLE", why did you use it for multiple years as your review claimed? We don't lock in customers at all and customers are more than welcome to switch to any other host, at any time. If you have a bad experience, we even have a refund policy. I believe, in regards to your DDoS complaints, you are referring to when we were first beta-testing our new mitigation system back in 2024. Since the system went live, aside from some initial hiccups, we haven't experienced any issues as a result of the system and it has been remarkably stable. We have the highest, most reliable DDoS mitigation of any host in the Minecraft server hosting scene at the moment, and we pride ourselves on having an overwhelmingly positive reputation in the DDoS mitigation community. Looking at other reviews on your profile, it seems you have a pattern of posting false, negative reviews on random services. I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to accomplish with this. In any case, we thank you for your business. Kevin

I tried to downgrade my server’s RAM, and the host management wouldn’t allow it. That was already frustrating, but it got even worse when I tried to access and download my own server files so I could move them elsewhere—again, the host management wouldn’t allow it. I even reached out and asked them to provide the latest backup file, and I’m still waiting for any kind of helpful response. At this point, I’m seriously considering changing hosts because this experience has been terrible. The fact that I might have to completely remake around seven months of work in just one week because I can’t access my own files is honestly ridiculous. I would not recommend this host based on this experience.

We have no record of you having services with us. Can you please respond to our request for information so we can figure out what’s going on? Thank you, Kevin

Did a ton of research about hosts, ended up with pufferfish. Tried to buy a pack, got told I’m a fraud. Ofcourse that is not the case so i contacted them. Even with a high priority ticket it took a while to get an answer. I contacted them through discord and I got straight up told ‘just admit you’re using VPN or using fake information’. They’re not even trying to help, all u get is accusations thrown at you. Ended up getting an answer on my ticket and all Kevin once again said was ‘ you’re a fraud’. Not giving any help of maybe trying to prove I am not, or any other options. I don’t recommend using this host purely because of the rudeness of the team, specifically Kevin.

Hello, I understand that you tried to purchase from us. Unfortunately, due to a number of factors, your order was flagged for a manual fraud review, as it looked suspicious. People try to use stolen credit cards on our platform all the time, as well as obscure information that, if we knew it, would make us not want to sell to them. I can’t go into specifics, and I’m not directly accusing you of doing any of these things, but your order matched too many similarities with these other fraudulent orders, and as a result we are unable to sell a server to you. This is NOT personal, and again, I’m not accusing you of doing this, it’s just our policy. I wish you luck in finding another hosting company. Kevin

Modpack installer not working out of the box and the clunky and outdated UI was useless. Help support unhelpful and gave me into trouble for contacting them on December 29th as they were all on holiday. If you're willing to take new orders during the holiday, you must be able to service them. Went to another host, wasn't treated as an inconvenience, and it was cheaper. Full refund requested, but told it was the holidays and nobody was able to do it until after the New Year. Avoid this company.

Hello, Shortly after you made your support request, you cancelled your server and as a result we were unable to diagnose the issue. In almost all cases where a server won’t start, it happens because you attempted to install something and the installation went wrong. These situations are very easy and quick for support to resolve. Had you waited a few minutes longer, we would have been able to solve this for you. I’m sorry you had a bad experience with our service and I hope you will re-consider. If you would like a refund or to re-activate and give it another try, please make a support ticket, we would be happy to help you in either case. Kevin

I have had the worst experience in both downloading a mod and trying to run the server and getting billed for purchases that shouldnt have been billed to begin with. This starts off with trying to download atm10 and trying for days to even try get the server running however apparently because its a type of forge (neoforge) it gets really buggy so with that information i wanted to just put it all behind me and just play a different game so i just requested a refund however because of the rules i wasnt allowed to get a refund because of the 3 day policy WHICH HAD BEEN CHANGED TO 24 HOURS (other hosting servers offer 1 week at least) moreover because of the fact that not a single account was logged into that server due to the problems in downloading. This means i couldnt even get a refund on a server that i havent even played on and by the time it was fixed it had already been a week and me and my friends didnt even want to play atm10. Secondly i had received an email saying that the account had been suspended due to "the failure to pay balance" so with that infomation i obviously assumed that the payments had been canceled BUT of course it hadnt and payments was still being made to the account EVEN THOUGH THE ACCOUNT HADNT BEEN LOGGED INTO FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS. This company, service and server had been one of the worst pain staking problems ive had to deal with. I would heavily not recommend this company if you want to play a modded server as problems will mostlikly occur as my experience with Pufferfish host was exactly as i described it as.

Hello, This review is not what actually happened. I’d like to set the record straight a bit. You first contacted us for help with your modpack on January 17, and we responded within minutes and set the entire modpack up for you. You confirmed that it was set up properly, thanked us for the prompt support, and we closed the ticket. 2 months later on March 17, you became irate and requested a refund of all service, stating that we shouldn’t be auto-billing you when you haven’t logged in. We send multiple reminders per month that you have a bill coming due. You may be confused as our refund policy was never 3 days, since the inception of the company it has always been 24 hours and nowhere in any communication would you have ever seen a 3 day refund policy anywhere on any of our promotional materials. You weren’t refused a refund because the refund policy “changed”. It has never changed. You were refused a refund because your purchase was nowhere close to being within our refund policy. I’m sorry you had a bad experience. Kevin

Your billing cancelation process is archaic. An employee attempted to reconcile this by stating "we don't bad actors to get access and easily cancel services that would wipe server date with worlds on it." But you'll take money in a heart beat, without a second thought, and no similar process to the one mentioned above? What if a bad actor just as easily wanted to set up their own server with someone else's money? A professional organization would deal with this and create a solution. Although this organization seems to lack the moral compass or innovation required to come up with a better process. Have a great day.

Hello, As we have previously stated, we CANNOT delete a server without confirmation that you actually own the server you are requesting that we delete. You have repeatedly refused to log into your account or provide us with any kind of proof that you actually own the server you are intending to delete. If you were able to provide a copy of an invoice and the last 4 digits of the credit card that you used to purchase the service, we would be able to help you in that case even if you are not able to access your billing account anymore. But, again, to reiterate, we cannot delete servers at random just because "somebody" made a ticket requesting that we do so. If a malicious actor made a ticket requesting that we immediately shut down a paying customer's services, and we actually followed through with that, that would be a VERY bad thing. We have these policies in place to protect our users. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience but we have these policies for a reason. Please contact support for help. We are happy to help you. But when you refuse to provide the basic information that we request to verify your identity, there is very little we can do for you. We have strict fraud checks in place that verify every transaction with 3D Secure. This, along with other fraud prevention measures that we have in place, prevents almost all situations where stolen credit cards may be used to purchase services. I can assure you, it would not be profitable for us to sell to people who are using stolen credit cards or other fraudulent means of payment. Thank you, Kevin Edit: I checked your email provided by Trustpilot. You sent us a valid support request on Saturday 26th October at 15:18 requesting a cancellation, and we responded confirming your cancellation on Sunday 27th October at 06:10. You were only billed once, and your service did not recur a single time.
