I was a Proper Insurance customer for over 12 months paying $100/month for my airbnb business. The website and sales rep stated that they cover revenue loss if something in your property gets damaged. My AC unit broke and was out of business for a few weeks since it was record high heat in california during the time. They denied my claim over a technicality of how the ac unit broke. Scam artists, just like the rest of the insurance industry. Stay away at all cost

They didn’t send the proper documentation to my mortgage lender for proof of insurance. The mortgage lender contacted me and said that they had called multiple times and reached out via other communication methods and did not receive a response back. I called and also could not reach someone at the company that could help, just an answering service…during their business hours. I reached out via email and they were very confused by this and defensive about having shared proof of insurance. The mortgage lender contacted me and sent written letters in the mail alerting me that the proof of insurance wasn’t provided. So, if the mortgage lender is saying that they need the proof of insurance, why did Proper just want to argue with me and not just send the proof of insurance again? It was pretty easy to solve once I did the work. I sent the documents myself and the mortgage lender replied with a confirmation of receipt. I asked for their confirmation of receipt and they just sent a fax report showing that they sent something to someone in July, which isn’t at all a confirmation of receipt from the mortgage lender. I have this document when I sent it but Proper just wanted to argue and act confused without taking any action…such as resending it. Update: An employee that I’m not usually working with emailed me that they are cancelling my policy after this review published, backdating to when my review was published, when I’ve clearly communicated that I am still working on the new policies with another provider. I had called the lender at the end of July and they confirmed that they still did not have proof of insurance from Proper. I sent proof of insurance on 8/1 and the lender processed it, sent me confirmation and paid Proper. Proper says they sent proof of insurance. Something went wrong and they didn’t make sure it processed successfully. It was pretty easy but the issue became more clear when speaking with them. Very argumentative and defensive without just contacting the lender and resolving the issue. Makes me really wonder how ethical and competent the claims department is.

I had delays on listing my property because of some structural issues of the property that had to be fixed and impacted by long construction delay. I have informed them several times that the house was still not ready and they cancelled my insurance. when I am now ready to list the property they offered me the same insurance with 27% increase for the same policy, and blaming the inflation when in 2023 the inflation has nothing to do with it because all other companies I talked with gave me a much lower quote at the same conditions. they do not care about their clients, just want to make every penny out of you

We have had proper insurance for 2 years. They have asked us to complete tasks to make our lane home insurable. We have completed all. Now they want us to block off top dock at lake house(deep water dock). We have to install gate so people won’t jump off. That’s why people have double deckers. People will now just jump over railing or stand on it to jump off. This is so ridiculous. They have now dropped us because we argued that this was very unsafe request. It’s a lake house with dock. People are going to jump off dock into water.

I was very excited to find this company. They were responsive and came up with a policy that was very good. I was assured - beyond any shadow of a doubt - by my agent, Dayne, that coverage was locked in, that he had done all of the necessary research, and that I would be just fine in cancelling my current insurance the same day I bonded with Proper. So...I cancelled the insurance that I had. A few days later, I was contacted by Dayne and told that the underwriters would not approve the policy. Many email conversations ensued with Dayne avoiding my phone calls until I asked to speak to his supervisor. At that time, Dayne suddenly became available to speak to me. He promised to contact another company, promised to get back to me within a day - and then I never heard from him again. This has obviously left me in a very bad position. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Avoid this company at all costs. They will make you jump through hoops if you want to switch out from them. Tagged me with $100 policy fee, $25 misc fee, and another 3% on my annual premium by calling it credit card fees. Slick. Went w/ State Farm. Worked w/ this Taylor lady and she was a nightmare know-it-all. Refused to cancel my policy until I shared w/ her what her competitor was charging. 40% cheaper on their rates. What a nightmare experience! I asked for explanation on the $320 that they stole and it took 5 people and 15 emails so I just gave up.

cant rate their insurance, but their quote process was bait and switch. they say 5 minute online quote and then decide you need to call them. The agent Wyatt there seems quite dickish. dont deal with him.
