The course was very practical and covered a lot of topics to help me feel as prepared as possible to dive into the unknown of freelance proofreading. I feel it created a realistic picture of the challenges that lie ahead. The team communicated effectively and in a timely manner. They followed through on what they said they would do. I didn't fully understand, however, that there were two completely different courses available that would qualify me for different areas of proofreading. Perhaps communication about this could be improved upon. I felt like I only had one option but probably would have taken the other course had I known about it.

I'm not able to spend full time doing this, so I'm just taking my time and relearning a lot of things I've forgotten over the years. I graduated from high school in 1965; my favorite subjects included English and Creative Writing. I was in the Navy for 4 years and when I got out in 1969 I went to college for 2 years. I hired on with the Federal Government in 1971, and spent the next 9 years writing technical documents for my organization. I finally was able to return to college and got my MS with more English and Creative Writing minors. I spent the next 20 years writing more technical documents, and since retiring in 2000 have been working as a contractor -- for the government -- writing MORE technical documents! I feel that I've fallen into some bad habits along the way, so the ProofReadAnywhere study is reintroducing me to many of the things I've forgotten. Your lessons are very good, but I believe the presenter goes through the material a little fast and perhaps a little too high level. I found, during the exam, that it was difficult to recall the rules or CMOS references that applied in some cases, and in others I just couldn't determine what the problem was. So I'm still learning and trying to improve my base skills once again, which I hope will begin revealing themselves in short order. I may take several more weeks or even a couple months to complete this program. As I said before, I'm a full-time cyber security consultant and proof reading as a small business is for a future -- but not too far in the future -- endeavor once I retire once more.

Great course material. But, BUYER BEWARE: they make you wait ONE WEEK before the second set of modules unlock, and TWO WEEKS before the final set of modules unlock. Incredibly frustrating, especially if you need to find work ASAP. Kills all learning momentum too. Proofread Anywhere needs to change this.

At the conclusion of this course I feel as though I have many threads to pick up that may bare fruit. There is a sense that I have a community to be a part of now.

There was a lot of information to process. CMOS is pure confusion at first. Research and teaching options were very helpful. Kahn Academy was a frequently mentioned extra resource and proved to be very helpful. This is a very indepth course and isn't something to race through.

I loved that I could proceed with the course and complete the work and review at my own pace.

There was lots of information to consume so it took me a few months to get through it. Your suggestion to work on all the worksheets was a good idea. I went through sets one and two several times. Just a suggestion though, I thought the essays could have been written better. Now I'm learning about hosted and non-hosted gateways, reviewing FreshBooks accounting software, and designing my website, Thank you for your support during my training.

Pros - Once you buy their courses, you have them forever. They do not expire. - There's plenty of worksheets with answers to get a better grasp of what work will be like. - There's a variety of lessons for grammar and spelling. - Examples of work experience is also suggested. Cons - I feel there could be a few video documentaries mixed in to give a better feel for what to expect as a proofreader.
