It was a daunting course because I was working and new to CMOS. I appreciate how comprehensive the course is and how supportive the PA General Proofreaders Facebook group.

In 2016 I made a major shift in my life and work and was preparing to move cross-country. I love working with words and was particularly attracted to the “anywhere” aspect of this work. I focused on the training and within 6 months had completed the course, set up my business and launched in October. Within a day, my first client contacted me via my website and then the second two days later. I was able to quickly earn back the investment in the course. Caitlin had shared something in the course about marketing, or this is what I took away from it which has worked to build and sustain my business over the last 5 years. It’s essentially a no-marketing approach where you do 110% for a few clients and from there the business grows through referrals. The only marketing I do is through my website, period. I am contacted by reporters regularly every week and then by email through direct referrals. I’ll also share that being immersed full-time in proofreading led me to move into copyediting and then copywriting. I took a couple of additional courses and then started a second editorial services business. Before I could even launch it, I started working with a client as communications director (which includes a wide range of editorial services), and this along with transcript proofreading provides a nice yearly income. I’d very much recommend the course but know this: it does take work and commitment. From there there the work will flow. I was forced to reevaluate things in November 2020 when I was six months pregnant and, due to Covid, my hours at work were being cut in half and I was losing my health insurance. That forced me to look at alternative ways to generate an income. I had researched ways to work from home, and I continued to come across Proofread Anywhere as I read different blogs and articles. Even though it cost money, I knew it was something I needed to look further into. Money was tight, but I viewed it as an investment that would pay off in the long run for my family. I decided to take the plunge and I have not looked back! I have learned so many valuable lessons within this course. Learning the fundamentals of proofreading is just part of the curriculum. It helps you work through your fears and addresses your mindset. It also provides tools to help with the logistics such as creating a website, how to do your taxes, billing your clients, etc. You really get everything you need from start to finish. In addition, I appreciate how Caitlin is completely candid and honest about the work that it takes to start your own business. She makes it very clear that this is not a “get rich quick” scheme. You have to put in the work to get the results you want.

July 1, 2021, was the last day of my day job after quitting two weeks prior. Did you know there could be office drama working remotely? Well, I don't like drama. So I decided that I didn't have to take it. Why? Because over 6 years ago I found Proofread Anywhere and Caitlin. Aside from being good at numbers and working in the accounting field for over 20 years, I've always had a love for words too. Reading has always been my thing. I remember finding errors and thinking, wouldn't it be nice to get paid to read and fix these things? Well, now I do get paid to read. Fast forward to 6 years ago, I was looking for a side gig to make extra money to pay off some debt. In my search, I found Proofread Anywhere which had just launched the previous month. After researching the PA course, taking the intro course, interacting with Cailtin by email, and finding that it was in fact legitimate, I bought the course. Who knew you could proofread for court reporters? I certainly didn't. But the course taught me everything I needed to know about working as a proofreader in this industry. And I found work right away. Although I had a full-time job at the time, I was still able to proofread on the side to help pay off all of my credit card debt, which took a few years. During this time I've built a lasting friendship with Cailtin and with several court reporters I work with. I knew that one day I wanted to just do this for work -- and it finally happened! Earlier this year I also finally decided to learn how to scope (edit) for court reporters too, which is more involved. And now I both proofread and scope as well which has increased my income. I now work for myself without any office drama at all. On top of that, it's a great career to have not only in general but during a pandemic too. I highly recommend the Proofread Anywhere course for anyone who's a word nerd and loves to read. It's not for everybody though. So be sure to take the intro course to either course -- transcript or general proofreading. Over the years Caitlin has added so much more valuable information to the course. It really is worth it. And remember, it's an investment in yourself. You will most definitely make back what you put into it and so much more. Believe me, I know. As one of Caitlin's earliest students, it's been such a pleasure to come to know her more and see how her courses have helped so many people find satisfying work they can do from home or anywhere in the world. I'm so thankful she shared this career with the world. I can't say enough about how the PA course changed my life. I'm so glad I found it because it's given me the freedom I've been wanting -- work whenever and however much I want and enjoy my own life too!

I had seen an advertisement for Proofread Anywhere a couple of years ago. But as my homeschooling days began to be less, I decided to take this course. I appreciated the ability to take it in my time frame, also I liked how as I went through the course I felt more knowledgeable and more confident that I would be able to eventually support myself if I followed some of the steps and suggestions throughout the course.

Proofread Anywhere gave me the courage to go out on my own and do something I love without having to work for someone else. Because I'm an English teacher, I already knew the grammar, usage, and punctuation rules, but I never thought I could actually be my own boss. Now I am extremely busy with proofreading and make more money than I did working for a large company.

Proofread Anywhere is legit and it's amazing! I lost my career when I moved to the US and was left floundering trying to keep my head above water working at low-paying jobs. I came across this on Facebook one day and started investigating. I took the plunge, worked hard, and couldn't be happier that I did. I've been doing transcript proofreading now for almost five months, and in that time I've matched what I earn at my regular job and have cut back my hours there to part time. I also made in the first three weeks the financial cost of what I put into the course. I love being at home doing the things I enjoy. When I take time off my regular job, (no vacation pay!)
