Deeply Disappointed by the Lack of Flexibility and Customer Care
I would like to share my recent experience with Prezi's billing and customer support process. I signed up for a trial period to evaluate the platform. On the very day the trial was due to expire, I logged into my account with the intention of cancelling the subscription before moving to a paid plan. However, when I attempted to do so, I discovered that the annual Premium subscription had already been activated and charged, and the only cancellation option available was for the following renewal period in 2027. As soon as I realized this, I contacted Prezi (some emails, chat on the website...) and requested both cancellation and a refund. My intention had always been to cancel before entering into a paid annual subscription. While Prezi promptly cancelled future renewals, my refund request was denied based on their Terms of Service. What disappointed me most was not only the decision itself, but also the way it was handled. Despite taking the time to explain the specific circumstances of my case, the response I received appeared to be a standard, automated template that did not address any of the facts I had provided. The reply simply referred to the Terms of Service, stated that refunds were not possible, and indicated that all decisions were final. There was no indication that my individual situation had been reviewed or considered on its own merits. I fully understand that companies need clear policies. However, I also believe that good customer service requires the ability to assess exceptional situations and exercise reasonable judgement when a customer acts in good faith. In this case, I attempted to cancel on the very day the trial expired, contacted support immediately after discovering the charge, did not use the paid annual subscription, and requested a refund straight away. Under those circumstances, I would have expected at least a genuine review of the case rather than what felt like a generic policy response. Prezi is a powerful presentation tool, and my feedback is not about the product itself. It is about the customer experience when an honest mistake occurs. Unfortunately, I was left with the impression that strict adherence to policy took precedence over listening to and supporting a customer acting in good faith. I hope Prezi reviews its approach to situations like this in the future, as a more customer-focused resolution would have left a very different impression. Olarizu Olabarrieta
