The company was recommended by a neighbor when I arrived home after a month away and my 20 year old Liftmaster garage door opener didn’t work.
The tech was very professional and asked about what features I wanted, which was just basic. He installed a basic Genie unit which costs about $400 retail so the charge for labor was $1800 for an hour and a half work.Because we’re too old to be lifting the door by hand, we paid through the nose.

300% Price Gouging!
My technician was fine. He was quick, professional, and efficient. Unfortunately, the pricing is the BIG issue.
I wish I had researched the cost of the materials before agreeing to the work. I completely understand that companies need to mark up materials, but the markup I was charged was excessive.
Here are some examples from my invoice compared with prices I found from local hardware stores:
Garage door hinges: I was charged $20 each and needed six. The same/similar hinges are available locally for under $5 each. That is roughly a 300% markup.
16' reinforcement struts: I was charged $140 each for two. I found comparable pricing online for approximately $80 each.
End bearing plates: I was charged $90 each for two. I found pricing of approximately $65 for two.
T-Rail Bottom Seal, 3.5" (16 ft): I was charged $143.49 total, or $8.99 each. I found comparable pricing for approximately $5 each, which would have been about $80 for 16.
I understand that businesses have overhead and need to make a profit, and I expect some markup on materials. But there is a significant difference between a reasonable markup and charging several times the readily available retail price.
The technician himself was not the problem. My concern is the material pricing, and I feel customers should be made aware of these costs before the work is performed.
Unfortunately, after seeing the pricing and doing my own research afterward, I would not use this company again. I also intend to share my experience with friends and family so they can research pricing before agreeing to similar work.
My advice to anyone considering using this company: get an itemized estimate and compare the material prices with local retailers before authorizing the work.

Poor workmanship, pressured to spend thousands
Technician diagnosed wiring short for garage door after painter's disturbed the wiring. He told me I need a complete rewire for $350 (2 yr old opener). I asked for repair and he quoted $160; I agreed to. Wiring was different color, left hanging from ceiling, looks bad. I complained and he said I got the nice wiring and staples for the $350 job. He spent a long time telling me I needed $4000+ in spring, rollers, track and repair to keep door from falling and that it was a danger. High pressure sales push with scare tactics that I finally asked him to stop. Had door checked by another firm. OK. Poor workmanship, pressure to spent 4K that is obviously company training. Will never use them again.

I learned something new today
I learned something new today, so I get to stay home! I had a spring on my garage door break, so needless to say the door wouldn’t open.
I took to the internet, first provider to pop up was Precision Door. High reviews, easy to schedule online, the service guy that showed up was very professional. Explained everything he was going to do, let me know there were 3 options he was going to quote, spring replacement, cable replacement and rollers.
The spring only quote was $945.00, add the other parts, close to $1600.00. I passed and told him I was going to get another quote. I was aware when I signed up there was an $89.00 dispatch fee. I had to pay if I declined service. I paid without reservation. I called another provider, Garage Doors by George. Service guy showed up, told be it would be about $300.00 to replace both springs. Deal! 20 minutes later, door works great. So, this is what I learned, start a service company, let the prospect know upfront that they will charged a dispatch.Being I saved over $600.00 by not biting on the first
price, the dispatch fee doesn’t bother me. If I would spent the $945, then learned I could have gotten it at a better price, I would not have felt to good! Hopefully my experience will help someone in need of garage door service in the Cedar Rapids area.

We had a problem with the strip under the door and the weather stripping on the side of the door
They came and fixed the strip under the door but not the weather stripping we called back and no return call would not recommend this company

Way overpriced!!!!
Bobby was an excellent technician! He was patient and thorough with the rebuild of the garage door parts. Bobby explained why more than just the springs needed replacement. The issue that I have is with the final price. I felt like I had to get ALL of the work done. There was no option given to me. That said, I guess I could have spent time getting additional estimates, and looking back I should have, but Precision was there and I authorized the work. After review of the final invoice, I was taken back as to how many items are between $200 and $300. And for parts that, after looking them up on line, were 1/2 the price. Then there was the garage door opener that cost $1,000! On line, it was less than 1/2 that amount, and the on-line prices also included the bar that the opener is attached to. Bobby said that, and the belt, were ok. After spending $3,500 because I had a broken spring, I would think I would have been offered a battery back-up opener.
I feel that I have been ripped off. I also requested a call from the owner, which has not happened. I am thinking of disputing part of the charges and show what the parts should have cost with a little internet research.

They told me in the chat box one spring…
They told me in the chat box one spring would be about $145, when the techs arrived they gave me three quotes, the lowest $880 for two cables and two springs. I know I agreed to the price buy but if I did not I would have to pay a $69 service charge. I found out later I could have another company do it for $495. They have rave reviews on their webpage but there is no place to post my review? Seniors be careful.

Disappointed This Time
I have used Precision Garage Door twice in the past, but I have an old door with springs; so the spring on one side came out. I called to get the springs repaired and the technician came out and gave me a shocking estimate of 776.00 for the replacement and repair of ALL the springs and cords of the door- stating preventing problems later. I was in shock because this is the 3rd time coming out and I am just wanting the one side repaired, thinking I will replace the door later. No matter what I said he insist that all this work needed to be done. I declined the work and signed as such and he shut the door and left. Immediately after I could not open the door, I could not get it to budge not even move a little bit. I called the office and they say he would come back and I never heard from him or the office and I can no longer open my garage door.
