Antarctic Peninsula - Dec. 6-16, 2018. Sheer perfection!
What more can I say but sheer perfection! From the luxurious pre cruise night at the Arakur, to the seamless boarding and the amazing crew and expedition team who treated us like family, this was truly a trip of a lifetime. The Sea Spirit was the perfect size ship for an Antarctica adventure with its luxury, roomy cabins, yet it was small and nimble enough to handle any zodiac landing opportunity. Anja and her outstanding expedition team were always ready to make sure everything was planned, coordinated and brilliantly executed. Even when we were delayed in leaving Ushuaia by a day due to high winds and surf in the Drake Passage, the team quickly put together a great program of tours and hikes to fill in. Once we set sail and arrived in the S. Shetlands, the rest was a nonstop orgy of spectacular scenery, penguin antics, whales, history, geology, ornithology and marine biology. And we were lucky enough to be kayakers as well! I will never forget our morning call to arms from our intrepid kayak master Ida "Good morning kayakers!" An epic paddle was sure to follow! Captain Oleg and his crew made midcourse corrections to maximize our opportunities, while Ruel and his staff provided amazing service in the dining room. We are vegetarians and there was always something prepared just for us. We even got to do two of the craziest things we've ever done on the same day! The Polar Plunge at Orne Harbor followed by camping out at Leith Cove out, exposed, in the open. I recommend Poseidon without hesitation to anyone who wants to visit the incredible, magnificent continent of Antarctica. Thank you Poseidon! We are already planning our 2020 trip to the Arctic with Poseidon and Sea Spirit!
