I have been building my own computers for the past 15 years. For the past 10 years or so I have been using PortaTech for all my needs. They have the best prices, let you customize your system, and have been 100% on all their equipment so far. Sometimes I like to build a system from scratch so I'll get the essentials here and a HDD/ video card from somewhere else since theyre cheaper that way. On occasion you don't want to build everything from scratch so PortaTech will let you customize your tower, specs, etc... I wish they would get an eastern location to so us Eastern guys don't have to wait a lot for shipping from California.

The worst customer service and online company I've ever dealt with. Just needed a barebones PC, motherboard, processor, case, and a powersupply. Received the first computer in 2 weeks, and motherboard was DOA. I thought they were supposed to test them? It was one of the reasons we went this route. So that was fine, we took it in stride, things happen. Shipped back everything, case, powersupply, the whole thing, paid $60 in shipping to do it, we didn't want to mess anything up by just returning the motherboard. Received it back. SECOND MOBO was defective. Worked for a few days and then nothing. This time we shipped back just the motherboard to avoid the high shipping charges, and I was looking for a simple refund because I'd bought a new motherboard on newegg.com NOW THEY WON'T PROVIDE A REFUND because they're claiming WE did something wrong and bent the pins. I'm sorry, but bent pins happen when you're installing a CPU, not removing one, and that's all we did. The installation of the CPU took place at Portatech because remember, I paid $60 in shipping so we wouldn't mess anything up. On top of that, they wanted me to return the I/O shield because I mistakenly forgot to include it. I promptly sent it back, and then got an email saying they were returning the entire motherboard back. NO ONE CALLED ME PRIOR TO THIS to let me know they'd found issues with the motherboard, I had to call and ask what was going on. Communication was extremely poor and we were left in the dark about any issues. In fact, everything sounded like it would be fine because they were asking for the I/O shield. Of course I wouldn't have sent it had they told me they had found problems with the mobo. Customer service was extremely short bad tempered and interrupted me frequently. It's mid April and I've been dealing with these guys since early February. Filing with the BBB, worst experience ever.

So it was time to get another computer, so i went to Tigerdirect like I had for the past 10 years. Tigerdirect really went downhill....Ill leave it at that. I only bring them up because I was mortified and had no idea where else to go and noticed others felt the same way. So I was worried, newegg didnt really have the barebones i wanted and was kinda high (as usual). I found Portatech and did a "build your own" and the price was perfect for what I would get. And they test/build it and put it in a protected box. There was a billing issue which they resolved that day and called me a couple times and was resolved immediately. By an American in California, which is hard to find nowadays. Actually she sounded like someone's grandma. Very knowledgeable and helpful. So about a week later my shiny new computer came and its awesome with windows 10 already loaded. All I did is plug it in and hit the button and works perfectly! (Im writing to you on it right now). Portatech is where I will be getting all my computers and other things from now on for (hopefully) years to come! Definitely recommend.

This is the third computer I have ordered from Portatech. The first two are still working flawlessly. One is a media PC and the other is a office PC. They answered all my questions and did not pressure me in any way for the upsale.

Order process was smooth, called in to ask for assistance selecting between choices and received prompt, courteous support. Liked the level of customization that seems to have gone to the wayside with other online purchase options.

Awesome service, lots of options, easy to navigate website. Any way you want it built and reasonable prices, in line with most others.

I have used Portatech 2 times prior to this purchase. The first purchase went fine--I was very pleased. The second purchase was very bad. My purchase was received damaged. When I called to inform Portatech of the condition of my purchase, I spoke with the rudest person I have ever talked to in my life. Aside from his behavior, there was no acknowledgement, apology or resolution of any kind. I can understand the occasional damaged merchandise, if there is an effort to correct the problem, but his attitude and behavior were unacceptable. As a result, I have not made a purchase from Portatech in many years, but due to other considerations, I decided to try them again. I can only hope that the male representative I spoke to has long since been fired and that he was an anomaly in the company.

I had zero problems ordering what I wanted.
