I bought two portals last year. They have now both stopped working. FB not responsive at all to complaints and their help email mysteriously just doesn't send. The FB live chat holds you in a queue and never picks up. It seems impossible to contact them to get them to honour the warranty. I have DM them but again no response. Would not recommend Portal

Specifically bought as saw the adverts saying portal could be used for zoom calls. Amd it can. But not the portal TV. Waste of money. And how do you contact complaints?

Bought a portal which after a couple of months had technical problems. I spoke to support and after numerous conversations we couldn’t resolve the issues, turning to a black screen and not working at all. Returned for a refund and after 4 weeks and endless chats on the Facebook portal I received an email to say they were issuing a replacement, despite the fact I had requested a refund as I had agreed with them i would purchase a replacement in the interim. I now have to go through the whole process again and wait another few weeks for a refund. There is no phone contact and the chat frequently cuts off. Having asked to raise a complaint I was informed there is no complaints procedure, which for a huge organisation such as Facebook (I purchased directly), I found terrible. I would not purchase from them again.

Anything with Facebook is trash! I blame it on racism!@ shut it down

And another negative review of Facebook or Facebook affiliation. Absolutely nothing is as promised. No traffic, no sales, nothing works. I am happy we could get out of Facebook portal fast. They don’t care about you they want to steal your money. Don’t be ingenuous about that. Terrible, terrible company

Promised Zoom and YouTube with the promise of Alexa voice control integrating with a TV Portal with WhatsApp and Messenger I thought this would be ideal for the grandmother. Finally something she could use to be online. I'm sad to say this isn't what I find at all. The integration should really be described as separation. It's clear the lawyers had their hands on this and Amazon and Facebook each cut capability to avoid data sharing. Firstly Alexa thinks she's in an Echo show. Thus Facebook have stuck a better camera on an echo show and taken away the touchscreen. With no mouse control or touch screen the device is impossible to use to sign in to any website service. Alexa is confused and cannot open Facebook or make calls on messenger. The Alexa mic button doesn't allow you to type in search fields, for this you will need to use the fiddly remote. The circle button is too small and too close to the surrounding direction buttons so it's very easy to make a typo. When you ask Alexa to make a call WhatsApp it can't. You can only call favourite contacts. YouTube is a basic web browser. But as described before there's no way to control the thing and the Google sign in page comes up and you cannot proceed. Without another portal you can't make calls direct to another device. Even Amazon calling features are disabled. The device having Alexa makes you want to subscribe to Prime to get better experience. This is because Alexa cannot even control the inbuilt Netflix App. There is no access to Amazon app store. A Firestick with calling it certainly is not. But you can cast to Portal, although for this feature your better off with a cast device at a third of the price. If your used to your smart phone stick to it. If you want a cast device with calling then get a TV box with the full App store or Play store access and buy a USB webcam that's compatible. This could have been so good, but it's so poor. It's like having a Tesla car without AI. It's not going anywhere except back to the store I got it from. Don't accept being forced to deal with Facebook team. They will point you to the service agreement which says they can remove apps at any time without notice. It's false advertising saying it has features that don't work and the contract isn't valid until after you bought the device so at the point of sale all your consumer rights apply. This should really be withdrawn and re-released with Google integration or Amazon app integration as currently it's a webcam with Alexa that says "sorry there is a problem", a bit like the customer service team.
