Poetry.comReviews of poetry.com

With nearly 900 poems in the website and designated a platinum member, I find it appalling to report someone costs me money. Asking question costs me money. I am so disgusted with this website. I’m about to publish my 28th and 29th books of poetry. This is the worst poetry website on the entire internet. Epilogue: after this review was posted the website wrote to me basically threatening to delete my account if I didn’t change my review. I standby everything I’ve said. This website monetizes other people’s poetry and uses micro transactions for everything from questions to poetry contests and limits people to only using PayPal despite having a debit or credit card and a credit score above 750 such as what I have. I have been disappointed so often. I finally chose to close my account and have all 920 poems deleted. He who can destroy a thing controls a thing and since I am the author and poet, I have resumed control over my work. I will never allow myself to be controlled and I advise everyone to never post on this poetry website.

No exposure. Poems are chosen based on monetary reasons and the BBB gives them an F. I'd never share another poem here or join another contest. They're about money not good literature

I absolutely love poetry.com. I entered one of my poems, it's been a while. I won a trophy and some other things. I was supposed to go to Florida to accept my award, which was given to us by Florence Henderson ( Carol Brady R.I.P.). I didn't have the money to go to Florida, but my poem was entered into a poem book. So cool. I enter these contests, here and there. I am entered in the July 2025 contest. I love having an avenue where I can share my poems with other poets. Everything I write is true stories, of people in my life. The poem I entered for July is about my Best and closet friend. We were like sisters. She passed away March 20, 2015. 5 days before my birthday. I will truly miss her.

If you want to improve your site, you’ll have to get people excited about poetry. To do that, improve engagement. Daily competitions will get your members engaged. Chatrooms will get your members engaged. A ranking system will make it interesting for members to take poetry more seriously. Eliminate the monthly contest. Rather, build up a contest with a higher prize pool. And, “all” of the buy-in money should go to the contestants. I know your company thinks it’s okay to use that money, but you’ll have to make sacrifices in order for a bigger prize pool. Do away with members voting; they’re not reading the poems, at least most aren’t. Rather, they’re picking the poems closest to the top. That system doesn’t work. Maybe have a panel of judges, including an AI? Set the AI to judge on most original and creative. In the daily contests, not all prizes are cash. Rather, some of those prizes are buy-ins into the contest where the prize pool is much bigger. Answering question: I stopped participating in the contests because out of 250 participants, only 34 actively read my poem. I’m assuming those numbers were mostly the staff. It would be safe to say that over 200 contestants are not reading every poem presented, but randomly choosing three poems.

Until you can restore the archived poetry lost on this site before you took over and make it available to the previous incarnation of poetry.com's authors and poets i will have nothing to do with it. Let me know, Jason Jerome, jasondrinksalot, the only reason you're messaging me at all is because I've enquired previously though you've failed to respond.

My name is Charles Edward York and I am an American author and poet of 27 books of poetry. I realize this poetry.com doesn’t like to be criticized or held accountable for its ongoing mistake of greed over poetry. It’s pretty clear to me whoever runs this thing is not a poetry lover. They are in fact, more concerned about making money at the expense of exploiting others. I’m writing this because it doesn’t matter to me whether I am a platinum member or not. The simple truth is that I have to pay to send a comment and I am denied any comment directed towards poetry.com as well as an allowance to pay by any other means other than PayPal. They censor critical comments about them! I have the feeling foreign interests are at work here. I am an American author and poet of 27 books and this website won’t even allow me to pay with my own debit card to enter any contest. I am not even allowed. If this website kicks me off, I will know that it’s because they are more concerned with making money than they are honoring the good work of a very humble poet who is prolific profound and actually cares about other people.

I paid them $10 to promote a poem. They did not promote it. Furthermore, there seems to be no help, or support. I emailed them and received no reply. They have three accounts for me and I want them all merged. Do not deal with these folks.
