Hi Pamela, Sadly we don't do personal or title loans. We only do business to business lending. Your best bet would be through your local bank. I'd explain the situation and they would be able to advise you best. To shine some light on what the mechanic is doing. They are putting a lien on your vehicle to insure that they will get paid for the work they did on your vehicle. In the event you wish you sell your vehicle in the future you'd need to satisfy the lien of $1,700, owed to the mechanic, in order to transfer ownership of your vehicle. I'd Google : "Lien on my car" for more details. Hope this message finds you well, Colin Neumann-Kyle
