Why choose Pimsleur.
What makes the experience great is the vast amounts of information, and different types of content to choose from. I love the listening exercises followed by the readings it gives after. The readings (marked by an open book in the corner), gives focus to the grammar and useful vocabulary to use in the daily world. It has really helped me to not only use those phrases, but know how and why they are structured. There are numerous other useful tools, and I wish to see only more in the future. Since living in Spain, Pimsleur has helped me significantly in my confidence to use Spanish within the communities. The Bonus cards are incredibly useful because they give you slang and colloquials to use in your speaking. If one truly wants to learn, and puts in the time correctly, I guarantee you’ll start to pick up on any language quickly. One thing I will say though is that some of the sentences they use, or instructed, are quite random. For starters and then intermediate, I think it would be best to do exercises or activities based on government, health, school, and over the phone communication. It is great learning how to causally speak or ask people what they love to do, but for me the most important is going to the hospital, or calling to make an appointment, and perhaps speaking with someone about your immigration papers. I understand that an app can’t do everything and provide every single detail, but something along those lines is what would put Pimsleur above others. Again, this app has helped me significantly and I will continue to use it in the future.
