I had to read the complaints for myself when I got their UNSOLICITED USPS spam today. Nearly every one of their replies quote how they've been in business for 102 years, blah blah blah. Then they go on to quote how they have an "A+ rating with A.M. Best and Weiss Ratings...." Yes those are independent companies, but they only look at a company's financials and grade them on how well off they are financially in order to actually PAY claims. Those ratings have NOTHING to do with the quality of the actual coverage, their customer service department, speed of claim payments, etc. as others have mentioned, BUYER BEWARE. .....also, as with ANY company, if they won't let you read the contract you're signing....word for word....BEFORE they make you sign it....RUN AWAY VERY FAR AND VERY FAST.
Response from Physicians MutualAug 18, 2026
Thank you for sharing your concerns, Brian. We understand that consumers want to know exactly what they are purchasing and have access to the details of their coverage. Physicians Mutual offers a variety of health, life, and retirement products designed for people from all walks of life, including coverage for pets. For our dental products, schedules of benefits are available on our website so customers can review covered services and benefits. Additionally, all of our policies include a 30-day right-to-examine period. This gives you an opportunity to carefully review your policy and coverage after receiving it. If you decide the coverage isn't right for you during that period, you can cancel and receive a full refund of premiums paid. We appreciate your feedback and encourage anyone considering coverage to review the policy documents carefully so they can make an informed decision.
